When Zheng Qiuhang slowly regained consciousness, it was already the middle of the night.

She had been woken by thirst.

She opened her eyes and thought blankly for a moment before realizing something was wrong.

’Oh god, did I lose my virginity?’ She shot up from the bed.

She quickly checked her body and found nothing amiss. Her clothes were even neatly arranged.

Her throat was parched. Spotting a teapot not far away, she scrambled off the bed, grabbed it, and drained every last drop of water inside.

After drinking, she gazed blankly around the room again. Suddenly, she saw there was someone else there.

A man was sitting quietly on the sofa, watching her in silence.

Zheng Qiuhang jumped, startled. Her voice trembled as she asked, "Who are you?"

"Finally awake?" Wang Chenning, who had been silent all this time, stood up with a smile. "You’ve been out for hours!"

"Oh, it’s you. Thank you for saving me!" Zheng Qiuhang forced herself to calm down. "If it weren’t for you, I can’t imagine what would have happened tonight."

Wang Chenning smiled and said, "That vice president from your company and your boyfriend were taken away by the police. They’ll get the punishment they deserve. Though, they’re probably in the hospital right now."

The drug those two bastards had prepared was incredibly potent. Even Wang Chenning found what happened in the private room hard to believe after he learned about it.

In any case, those men would be laid up for a very long time.

Right now, the two of them were probably in an operating room.

Zheng Qiuhang assumed Zhou Jieyang and Wang Jianyong were in the hospital because Wang Chenning had beaten them up; she didn’t consider what other methods Wang Chenning might have used afterward.

She was utterly disgusted by those two men and didn’t want to talk about them anymore.

"What... what happened earlier?" she asked Wang Chenning, her face flushing. "I don’t even remember how I fell asleep!"

She only vaguely remembered Wang Chenning coming in when the drug was taking effect and she was in agony.

For some reason, she didn’t feel the slightest bit of revulsion toward Wang Chenning.

If Wang Chenning really had been the one to help her with the drug, she could accept that. After all, he was handsome and masculine.

’I’ll just think of it as my way of repaying Wang Chenning!’

"They gave you a potent drug. I used my Acupuncture Skill to force it out of your system, then gave you an antidote," Wang Chenning said, looking at Zheng Qiuhang with a smile. "How do you feel now?"

Zheng Qiuhang was dressed beautifully today. That, combined with her tall, curvy figure and a face that would mesmerize any man, made her the very definition of alluring. Wang Chenning truly couldn’t understand how that Zhou Jieyang could bear to offer up a girlfriend like her to someone else.

"I don’t feel anything unusual anymore. Thank you!" Zheng Qiuhang thanked him again before asking hesitantly, "Are you a doctor?"

"My name is Wang Chenning. On February nineteenth, Central TV aired a special interview with me. I think the host also posted about me on their Weibo!"

"Ah?! You’re *that* Wang Chenning!" Zheng Qiuhang looked stunned. "You’re Zhao Xiao’an’s rumored boyfriend?"

"There’s a rumor like that?" Wang Chenning laughed heartily. "I only met Zhao Xiao’an during that interview. How could I possibly be her rumored boyfriend?"

"I’m so lucky to have run into a doctor with such outstanding skills and ethics!" Zheng Qiuhang seemed a little emotional. "Sir, this great debt I owe you..."

"’Thank you for saving me, young master. This humble servant has no way to repay you, other than to offer myself to you.’" Wang Chenning cut her off with a grin. "Or is it, ’Thank you for saving me, young master. This humble servant has no way to repay you, so I shall serve you as an ox and horse in my next life to repay this great kindness’?"

Zheng Qiuhang burst out laughing with a "Pfft!" "You already have a beauty like Zhao Xiao’an by your side; of course you wouldn’t be interested in a little maidservant like me. If you need me to do anything in the future, just ask."

Wang Chenning thought for a moment, then said, "Tell me about your ex-boyfriend."

Hearing Wang Chenning’s question, Zheng Qiuhang’s expression fell.

She hesitated for a moment but didn’t hide anything.

Zhou Jieyang was her senior. Both of them were economics majors at the University of Finance and Economics.

They were both good-looking and talented students, and after spending more time together, they developed feelings for each other.

Zhou Jieyang graduated two years ago and used his connections to get into Chaoyun Group, a Fortune 500 company.

Last year, he caught the eye of Wang Jianyong and was promoted to a junior manager in one of the departments. They were both very happy at the time.

But she never expected that he would do something like this just for his own career and for more opportunities to get promoted.

After explaining, Zheng Qiuhang gave a bitter smile. "Actually, some of the things he said made sense. Society really is this pragmatic."

Wang Chenning chuckled. "It’s all in the past, so don’t dwell on it. You didn’t lose anything. Besides, I heard that in the two years you were dating, he never got anything from you."

Zheng Qiuhang’s face instantly turned red, but after a brief moment of bashfulness, she spoke frankly. "Actually, I’m not a particularly conservative woman. It’s just that I’ve always lacked a sense of security. I grew up in a single-parent home. My dad left my mom and me for another woman when I was in elementary school. So, without an absolute sense of security, there are just some things I won’t do."

Wang Chenning didn’t dwell on the issue and changed the subject. "What are your plans for the future?"

"I don’t know what to do!" Zheng Qiuhang’s face was crestfallen. "I had originally planned to join Chaoyun Group after graduation, since Zhou Jieyang was there. But I have no desire to do that now. Plus, my internship isn’t even over yet. After something like this, I don’t even know if I’ll be able to get my internship evaluation approved!"

"You’re an economics major. There are plenty of places you can go after graduation," Wang Chenning said with a smile. "I just took over Li Garden Hall today, and I happen to be short a manager. If you’re interested, you could give it a try. I’ll pay you well."

Zheng Qiuhang froze. "Are you... Are you trying to make me your mistress?"
