"You’re the worst!" Zhao Xiao’an tried to struggle, but she couldn’t break free from Wang Chenning’s clutches.

As she struggled, Wang Chenning pressed several acupoints on her waist, and she instantly went limp, all her strength gone.

"Stay still!" Wang Chenning patted Zhao Xiao’an’s leg before starting to massage the acupoints on her head.

Zhao Xiao’an had no choice but to lie still; it wasn’t as if she could move anyway.

Seeing Zhao Xiao’an lying there obediently, Wang Chenning began performing acupuncture on several points on her head.

A little while earlier, Zhao Xiao’an had mentioned that she’d worked too long today and felt a bit dizzy, asking Wang Chenning to help treat her.

And Wang Chenning was doing just as she asked.

"You two rest for a bit. I’m going to grab a late-night snack, I’m starving!" After packing up his equipment, Wang Chenning took the food Zhao Xiao’an had brought out to the living room and dug right in.

"Rest up! Once you get your strength back, come out and eat with me!" he called back into the room between bites. "This stuff Xiao’an brought is pretty good!"

Zhao Xiao’an had arrived over ten minutes later than Wang Chenning had expected.

It turned out she had gone to buy them a late-night snack.

Wang Chenning sighed inwardly. ’Xiao’an really is something else.’

Then again, he couldn’t rule out the possibility that she was deliberately testing them.

By the time Wang Chenning was almost full, the two women finally emerged from the room.

They both gave Wang Chenning a resentful look, but still sat down on either side of him without hesitation.

"It’s not often the three of us are all together, so let’s talk about a few things while we eat." Ignoring their resentful glares, Wang Chenning got up and sat down across from them. "I’m not planning on getting married anytime soon. Whichever one of you wants to marry me will have to wait many years. I’ll marry whoever is willing to wait. Or maybe I’ll be dead at someone else’s hand before long—a lot of people want my life right now. And I won’t hide this from you: most of the things that have happened in Yandu during my absence were orchestrated by me."

Wang Chenning’s abrupt declaration stunned the two women.

They stopped eating completely, staring at Wang Chenning in astonishment.

They had suspected Wang Chenning was involved in these incidents and believed he was responsible for a few of them, but they never imagined he had masterminded most of it.

In fact, the shock was so great they almost automatically disregarded his infuriating words from moments before.

"While I was in Tokyo, I subdued two women whom you’ve probably seen around: Wang Liqing and Wang Liyu. For now, I’m using drugs to control them. After a year or two of being controlled like this, they should submit willingly, and their loyalty will only increase." Ignoring the two women’s surprise, Wang Chenning continued, "I’ve said before that I want to achieve great things. Of course, this wasn’t always my plan—it’s an ambition I only developed after coming to Yandu."

Zhao Xiao’an and Yang Xiaofei both froze, staring at Wang Chenning with wide eyes.

Wang Chenning smiled and went on, "My goal is to stir up conflict among the great families of Yandu, fish in the troubled waters to reap the benefits, further elevate my own status, and acquire more resources to achieve my grand ambition. I know the situation in our country; many of my ideas can’t succeed domestically, so I’ve set my sights abroad. I want to acquire enough territory to slowly build my influence on a global scale."

After saying all this, he fixed his gaze on Zhao Xiao’an. "I’ve told your grandfather about these plans, and he’s willing to support me. With his backing, I have a much stronger foundation, and I can be much bolder in my actions. I can’t guarantee I’ll succeed, but I believe I have a better chance than anyone else."

"What’s your point in telling us all this?" Yang Xiaofei cut in. "Don’t think we’ll forgive you just because you spouted a bunch of nonsense!"

The more she thought about how Wang Chenning had treated her earlier, the angrier she became. She had the sudden urge to tell Zhao Xiao’an everything, right then and there.

"I’m not spouting nonsense!" Wang Chenning waved a dismissive hand. "The reason I’m telling you all this is because I want your help. I believe that you will help me, and that together, we will accomplish something truly great!"

"Not interested!" Yang Xiaofei retorted angrily.

Wang Chenning paid her no mind and continued, "When I clashed with Li Mingchao, I used a drug to control him. The effects still haven’t worn off. By the time they do, he shouldn’t be causing any more trouble for me. And if he’s still defiant, well, I have other ways to make him submit."

Zhao Xiao’an raised an eyebrow and asked bluntly, "And if we don’t listen to you? Are you planning to use the same methods to make us submit?"

"Never," Wang Chenning said, shaking his head. "I would never use such methods on the people I care about. The drugs I develop are only for my enemies. I’ve laid all my cards on the table for you. If you’re not interested, I won’t force you. And if you want to tell anyone else, I won’t stop you."

Yang Xiaofei’s expression changed instantly. "Is that a threat?"
