Chapter 77: Will You Fulfill Your Duties as a Fiancée?
Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Will You Fulfill Your Duties as a Fiancée?
Everyone was stunned, including Wang Chenning.
Wang Chenning had hugged Yang Xiaofei in public specifically to put these people in their place.
But he never expected that not only would Yang Xiaofei obediently play along, she’d even land a killer blow of her own!
’A woman’s heart is a needle at the bottom of the sea!’
In the end, Li Mingchao, Lin Annian, and the others left with their tails between their legs.
Lin Annian was certainly not willing to let go of the humiliating beatdown he had suffered at the hands of Wang Chenning and Luo Yuqing.
When he ran into Wang Chenning at the airport, he had planned to thoroughly humiliate the arrogant bastard, which would have also been a way to win back some face for Li Mingchao. But to his surprise, after Wang Chenning said just one sentence, Li Mingchao had signaled for his entourage to leave.
"Eldest Young Master Li, don’t forget our appointment tomorrow night!"
Tomorrow night was when Wang Chenning was scheduled to give him the antidote again. Over sixty hours had already passed since he had last taken it.
The last dose Wang Chenning had given him was effective for ninety-six hours. This would be the third time Li Mingchao received the antidote from Wang Chenning.
He didn’t dare question the timeline Wang Chenning had set.
As the deadline approached, he could feel a growing discomfort in his body. By the time the hour was almost up, he would be in pure agony. The infuriating part was that Wang Chenning deliberately waited until the last possible moment to give him the antidote.
Wang Chenning’s goal in doing this was, of course, to make Li Mingchao fully aware of the consequences of not taking the antidote, as well as the accuracy of his timing.
With the poison in his system unresolved, Li Mingchao had his vital weakness held in Wang Chenning’s grasp, rendering him unable to resist in any way.
He hadn’t told Lin Annian about this; it was too humiliating.
Lin Annian naturally found it strange that the normally fearless Li Mingchao would be so timid in front of Wang Chenning, but he followed him out anyway.
On the way out of the airport, Li Mingchao said indignantly, "We’ll talk about some things later!"
And with that, Lin Annian seemed to understand.
"The show’s over. Time to go." Watching Li Mingchao and Lin Annian leave dejectedly with their friends, Wang Chenning turned to the equally expressionless Yang Xiaofei and said, "I’m going to see your grandfather in a bit; he needs another treatment. If you’re busy, go take care of your business. You can find me at your grandfather’s place when you’re done."
"I’ll go with you to see Grandfather." Yang Xiaofei started walking forward.
"I drove!" Wang Chenning took out his key fob and pressed a button. A red Maserati sports car parked not far away chirped twice, its lights flashing.
"You just bought it?" Yang Xiaofei looked at Wang Chenning, slightly surprised.
"It was a freebie." Wang Chenning smiled. "I’ll tell you about it later."
To Wang Chenning’s surprise, Yang Xiaofei didn’t walk toward her own car—an eye-catching Rolls-Royce Phantom parked at the exit—but instead followed him to the Maserati.
"You’re not taking your own car?" Wang Chenning gave Yang Xiaofei a strange look.
"Since you came to pick me up, it’s only natural that I leave with you." Yang Xiaofei glanced at Wang Chenning calmly, then took the initiative to open the door and get into the sports car.
Wang Chenning got into the driver’s seat with a sigh of resignation and started the car.
He saw in the rearview mirror that the Rolls-Royce Phantom and the two black Audis carrying her bodyguards started up quickly and began driving toward them.
Wang Chenning paid them no mind. Once the engine was on, he slammed on the gas. The sports car let out a ROAR and sped out of the parking lot.
Yang Xiaofei, who had already fastened her seatbelt, showed no change in expression. She took a pair of sunglasses from her bag, put them on, and then asked casually, "A gift from Luo Yuqing?"
"I won it in an acupuncture competition." Wang Chenning briefly explained what had happened earlier, only omitting the part about Zhao Xiao’an’s involvement.
"The Chang family’s grandfather and grandson are really that arrogant?" Yang Xiaofei turned her head, looking at Wang Chenning in surprise. "They basically handed you a huge gift!"
"Yep, so I accepted it!" Wang Chenning flashed Yang Xiaofei a brilliant smile. "Driving a car you’ve won is way more satisfying than driving one you bought yourself!"
"Congratulations. You’ve made a name for yourself again."
"Thanks!"
Wang Chenning wasn’t familiar with the roads and often needed Yang Xiaofei to give him directions.
Finally, he asked jokingly, "How about you drive?"
"Alright." He had expected her to refuse, but she agreed readily.
So, Wang Chenning pulled over, and they switched places.
Although Wang Chenning often got into fights, his temperament had long since matured into one of calm stability. He didn’t drive a sports car like some young hotshot, constantly gunning the engine; instead, his driving was smooth and steady.
He never would have guessed that Yang Xiaofei, who usually seemed so quiet, elegant, and graceful, drove like a bat out of hell. She scared him more than once.
Soon, she had completely shaken off the Phantom and the other cars, leaving them far behind.
"I never would have guessed. You drive so aggressively!" As the car pulled up to the gate of the Yang family’s villa, Wang Chenning looked at the still-calm Yang Xiaofei with a wry smile. "Is this what they call a hidden attribute?"
"Just helping you test the car’s performance. It’s not bad." Yang Xiaofei actually revealed a gentle smile, then turned to the side to look at Wang Chenning. "I want to discuss something with you. I need you to do me a favor."
"What is it?" Wang Chenning asked, quite curious. "Do you have some other unspeakable ailment? Did you accidentally catch something?"
"..." Yang Xiaofei froze for a moment, then shot him an annoyed glare before turning her face away. "I want everyone to know that you are my fiancé."
"..." Wang Chenning froze as well.
’What is this woman playing at?’
Seeing Wang Chenning’s dumbstruck expression, Yang Xiaofei didn’t seem to find it strange, nor did she seem to care. She said nonchalantly, "You can make your demands. Name your price. As long as it’s within my power, I’ll satisfy your conditions. After all, I already introduced you as such just now."
She said it as if she were discussing something that had nothing to do with her, with a calmness that was hard to believe.
Wang Chenning looked at Yang Xiaofei with a peculiar expression. "You mean, if I agree, I can ask for anything?"
Yang Xiaofei nodded.
Wang Chenning thought for a moment, then said, "And if I wanted you to warm my bed tonight, to fulfill your duties as a fiancée, you’d agree to that too?"
