Aeloria’s voice echoed in the silent starfire realm.

"Stand up. The slow accumulation is over."

Lucifer opened his eyes, his crimson irises locking onto the girl as he pushed himself off the ground. Even now, the Pseudo-Divine state kept its grip on the air around him, but Aeloria’s expression said that this was no longer an acceptable limit.

"You felt the fluctuations," Aeloria stated. "Even if they were distant and insignificant, the signs are there. Outside forces are beginning to push at the edges of this realm. You will either have to cross into the true Divine now, or fall victim to what is coming."

Lucifer gave her a sharp look. "You didn’t exactly explain the process before."

"Because most who attempt it without the proper preparation destroy whatever foundation they had before." Aeloria circled him, watching the boy carefully. "Pseudo-Divine is still bound to the limitations of this realm. To shift into the True Divine, you have to force your Blood, Lust, Shadow, and the World Vein Authority into a perfect synchronization. You have to burn away a part of your gathered foundation and use its power to rebuild and reshape your core on a higher level. It is a dangerous endeavor, as the outcome is far from certain. Either you succeed and cross into the True Divine, or you waste years upon years trying to mend your old foundation."

Aeloria stopped in front of him. "You will have to push your active authorities to their limits and pull them back in at the same time, forcing the power inside you to change and adapt. It won’t be easy, and the risk is far greater, but your hybrid nature might give you an advantage over others who seek to stand where you are going."

Lucifer only nodded. "Tell me what to do."

The girl gave him a long, hard look before finally speaking.

Aeloria began her explanation, telling the boy what had to be done to push the Blood Core at the front of the process and use the power of the Lust Drive to shift the unstable energy into the necessary form. She described the exact moment when the World Vein Authority had to be pushed into the mix in order to lock it all together and told the boy about the pain that would come with the sudden shift if he weren’t careful. When she finally finished, Lucifer closed his eyes and began.

The power surged through him in a chaotic wave, trying to consume him whole. First, the Blood Core forced its power out, trying to fill his veins with an endless stream of pressure and pain. It was enough to burst through every blood vessel in his body, but the next step made the pain unbearable. The Lust Drive shifted its power, using the agony inflicted by the blood to twist and shape it into something else entirely. Shadows crawled from his body, trying to pull in the excess force, and suddenly it wasn’t going outward. It was going inward, being pulled into his body by the force of his sheer will, as instructed. The World Vein Authority resisted for a heartbeat before being pushed into the center of the newly forming power mass inside his chest. The starfire realm seemed to recoil from the sheer force of it all as Lucifer’s body became still.

His body tensed, and the long strands of his black hair levitated away from his shoulders for a brief moment. His heart stopped and then resumed pounding a steady rhythm. His bones grew, grew denser, and his muscles twisted and pulled before knitting themselves back together according to some higher standard. The black veins running along the edge of his crimson eyes thickened, almost swallowing them whole. His entire being was consumed by this new transformation.

A sudden system interface flashed before his eyes, the words burning into his vision with a heavy black border outlining each symbol.

• Umbral Throne: The production of shadows is no longer reliant on external darkness. The user is capable of imposing an area of absolute darkness, erasing light and diminishing the effects of other authorities.

• Origin Pulse: A short-range divine pulse that incapacitates weaker beings and disrupts the focus of entities existing on a similar level.

• Hybrid Cataclysm (Sealed): Full synthesis form. The user’s power output is increased to unprecedented levels, but at a tremendous cost to overall stability.

Lucifer’s knees gave out beneath the sheer weight of it all, but he pushed himself up, forcing his legs to lock together. His body stabilized itself, the final wave of transformation washing over him, and when it ended, the air around him was impossibly dense for several dozen feet in every direction. Aeloria observed the changes silently, her expression unreadable, but the flicker of something akin to recognition in her eyes was all the confirmation Lucifer needed.

"True Divine," Aeloria murmured in response to the silent question in his mind. "Early stage. Stable. You did well, considering the circumstances. The hybrid framework holds."

Lucifer flexed his fingers, testing his new body. It was strange, as if some part of him had changed irreversibly, but the feeling was no longer unfamiliar. It was like the power was part of him, rather than something he had to constantly hold on to. "This is the base?" Aeloria asked.

For the first time since this began, Lucifer allowed himself to relax, however briefly. "True Divine has its own levels within the greater hierarchy of existence. You have only taken the first step, and what will come next will require far more than just syncing your own authorities.

Aeloria’s gaze flickered to the distant void for a moment before returning to the boy. "You will not have much time to get used to this new state. The events you sensed before are only the beginning. When the time comes, be prepared to use what you have gained."

Lucifer met her eyes and simply nodded. The true threshold had been crossed, but the next barriers were already waiting.
