Villain Seduces to Rise in Status

Chapter 106 - Heart of a Demon

The two fights Cale watched just now were not significant to him right now, but when he would realize who those people were who Rhaezel killed, he would indeed understand how powerful Rhaezel was.

The two memories right now were just glimpses—a side effect of going into the past memories of a person with a higher cultivation. It was just now that Cale had started to see the real inheritance, the memories and fighting methods of Rhaezel.

It all started when Rhaezel was a demonic wolf. He hunted tens, hundreds and thousands. It was like the very prehistoric age of this world. Humans were way too weak, with no artifacts existing, no knowledge of the cultivation path, other than the fact that it made you strong.

From a demonic wolf, Rhaezel became the leader of tens of wolf packs, thus forming a group. He killed and ravaged beasts, humans, monsters alike.

But after more than ten years of eating creatures with spiritual energy, and a body strong enough to handle a new power, he was blessed with the power to cultivate.

It took him another 20 years to just start the very first step, to cultivate. Wolves were carnivores, hunters who couldn’t just sit and cultivate. So he didn’t. He just created his own type of cultivation, something suited to him. The path of being merciless, which he further refined into the Merciless Sword Dao in the future.

50 years passed. He had developed a conscience now. Understanding others, reading their thoughts, even understanding human speech.

He grew interested, trying to speak. Though any human he ever met either got scared of him or tried to kill him. It was difficult, so he stopped killing aimlessly, trying to show humans that he wouldn’t kill unless he was hungry.

It didn’t work! How could it? What if he got hungry during conversation?

So he decided he would just go and find a human strong enough that he couldn’t pose a threat to him.

Another 10 years passed.

He gave up on this hope to ever talk. But right as he turned back to go to his tribe, he realized something. His tribe—it didn’t exist! He was the one who was blessed! They weren’t!

They had limited lifespan, living, reproducing and dying. Now, this life felt more like a curse!

He felt like dying, but couldn’t. All he wished was that some strong person would appear and kill him. Years passed, but due to his reputation, not a single human came to kill him.

A few more years passed by. He heard footsteps. For the first time he became excited—not to kill, but just by the presence of another. A person... a human....

’A child!?’ he thought. All the humans could send to kill him was a weak child!

The child cowered in fear with just a look. A fragile being, scared and trembling. Just as Rhaezel took a step ahead, the boy fell and even pissed himself.

’Such a weak being! How can I even hope to speak like them!’

"P-please... please spare me!" the boy begged.

Rhaezel stood. For the first time in a while someone didn’t just outright attack him. So of course he didn’t just kill him and sat beside him.

It took the whole night for the kid to calm down and feel slight ease beside the wolf who seemed to follow him.

"Umm... do you want to be my friend?" the kid asked with a hoarse voice.

The wolf didn’t answer. How could it? And just continued its path.

Thus began a sort of camaraderie between them—a wolf who wanted to experience a new life, and a child of humans abandoned by everyone.

A few years passed, and Rhaezel finally learned to talk!

But greed was an inherent thing, be it humans or monsters. Now that he learned how to talk, the first thing he did was want a human body.

It’s not that he was searching for a stronger race, but he wanted a place with real comrades. Wolf children don’t stay with parents. They kill each other, eat each other and do not show mercy. But humans—they looked to save their comrades when Rhaezel attacked one. They stay with their kids, watch them grow and do not forcefully go to battles.

The child grew old, and his final wish was to give his body to his friend to eat.

Rhaezel ate his body, with no sorrowful emotions. He was going to die anyway, so what if he ate him?

But the next day, Rhaezel woke up as a human!

He jumped around, screaming, laughing, but suddenly got the idea to visit human settlements.

But when he got there, this wasn’t what he expected.

He thought humans treated each other the same, but this was way too different. Here, humans already differentiated between each other by any and all sorts of things. Money, clothes, color, cultivation, talent, mortal, non-mortal—just say the topic and they would start to create hierarchies in them.

But now he was a human. He had to live like them!

So he tried to adapt, but alas, he still was a wolf at heart.

The need to kill, the need to mate, the need to fight, the need to form a group, eat flesh, be the top dog, become stronger than others—it was all in his heart.

So he did it for hundreds of years, without restraint! He killed, created tens of hundreds of offsprings, ate human and demon alike, growing to the position of the lord of ten thousand demons. He now possessed the heart of a demon.

He realized—naive! He was way too naive! To think he would apply morals and many other things when all he wanted was to be free! It wasn’t humanity that he pursued. It was freedom itself!

Thousands of years had passed since his birth. Humans started creating sects and other groups. Hence he made one of his own.

The Carefree Freedom Sect.

A sect where you could join and only needed to work enough to fill your monthly income quota. Other than that, the sect wouldn’t care what you did.

A sect made for people pursuing freedom. But who knew that this freedom would bring upon disasters?
