Chapter 680: What Did You Say Her Name Was?

The vast, white mist parted, revealing towering Immortal Mountains that reached into the clouds.

The Immortal Mountains stretched as far as the eye could see. From a distance, pavilions and towers dotted the peaks, looking like tiny pebbles standing out against the vast expanse of green.

Song Wanning leaped into the air, following Mo Yang Immortal Venerable in silence as they headed deeper into the Sect.

The air was thick with Immortal Qi. Song Wanning didn’t even have to circulate her Cultivation Technique; the Immortal Qi eagerly poured into her body.

As she gazed at the scene before her, her heart filled with anticipation.

Mo Yang Immortal Venerable, Daoqing, Feng Jiuxiao… they were all from the Wuji Sect!

With them here, she felt much more at ease.

And…

‘Mu Zixu is in the Wuji Sect, too!’

A vicious glint flashed in Song Wanning’s eyes, along with a hint of malice.

‘I can’t wait to see the look on Mu Zixu’s face when he sees me.’

“Greetings, Immortal Venerable!”

“Immortal Venerable.”

Everywhere they passed, disciples respectfully greeted Mo Yang Immortal Venerable while secretly sizing up Song Wanning, intensely curious about her identity.

Song Wanning felt their stares and maintained a calm expression, offering a faint smile.

‘We’ll be fellow disciples from now on, so it’s best to be polite.’

But as the crowd grew, Song Wanning found it hard to keep smiling, so she simply adopted a blank expression as she walked by Mo Yang Immortal Venerable’s side.

This only made everyone more convinced she was a junior relative of Mo Yang Immortal Venerable. Her aura, her expression—they were practically identical.

The rumors grew increasingly absurd, to the point that some began to suspect Song Wanning was Mo Yang Immortal Venerable’s child from the Lower World…

Song Wanning, still oblivious to the rumors, soon arrived at the Sect Master Hall with Mo Yang Immortal Venerable.

The Sect Master Hall sat at the very center of the sprawling mountain range. Its decor was grand yet simple, exuding a rustic, ancient charm.

It seemed no one in the Wuji Sect, from the highest to the lowest, was fond of ostentatious styles.

Upon entering the grand hall, she saw that the Sect Master and several elders were already waiting inside.

Song Wanning was a little surprised. She had expected to simply meet the Sect Master and hadn’t anticipated such a crowd.

Little did she know, the Sect Master was quite exasperated himself. As soon as this group heard the news, they had rushed over and refused to leave, insisting on seeing who Mo Yang Immortal Venerable had brought back.

And so there they were, all sitting neatly in the hall, their faces alight with gossip.

The moment they saw Song Wanning, their eyes lit up.

‘She’s a great beauty!’

Judging by her bearing, they already had some ideas, but they remained intensely curious about her identity.

“This disciple, Song Wanning, greets the Sect Master!”

“And greetings to the elders!”

Song Wanning stepped forward, offering a slight bow with cupped fists as she introduced herself.

“Haha, no need for such formalities!”

The Sect Master made a polite gesture as if to help her up, a smile gracing his features.

“I’ve long heard Mo Yang Immortal Venerable mention that our Sect would be welcoming a rising star. Now that I see you for myself, I can tell he wasn’t exaggerating in the slightest.”

He showered Song Wanning with conventional pleasantries, and the elders chimed in with their own smiling words of praise.

Song Wanning listened with a smile, knowing they were all doing this out of respect for Mo Yang Immortal Venerable.

Seeing that she was neither arrogant nor impatient, they found themselves admiring her all the more.

After all, Cultivators who managed to ascend were the chosen elites of the Lower World; it was inevitable that they would carry a hint of arrogance…

Yet Song Wanning was neither obsequious nor arrogant, remaining calm and composed from start to finish. She was truly impressive.

Meanwhile, Mo Yang Immortal Venerable stood to the side like a statue, not saying a word.

The Sect Master glanced from him to Song Wanning before continuing, “From this day forward, you are a True Disciple of the Wuji Sect. However… do you wish to formally study under Mo Yang Immortal Venerable?”

“I am grateful for the Sect Master’s generosity, but this disciple already has a master from the Lower World. It would be inappropriate for me to now pledge myself to another.”

“However, I was fortunate enough to receive a legacy from Mo Yang Immortal Venerable. In my heart, he is already another of my masters!”

Song Wanning’s words were direct, yet they also subtly conveyed her reverence for Mo Yang Immortal Venerable.

Instantly, the cold aura surrounding Mo Yang Immortal Venerable seemed to thaw slightly.

His expression softened.

Seeing this change, everyone now had a clear idea of Song Wanning’s importance to Mo Yang Immortal Venerable. One by one, they took out welcoming gifts and presented them to her.

The Sect Master, of course, was no exception. They each produced an exquisite box containing items that Song Wanning would find useful at her current stage.

“Thank you, Sect Master! Thank you, elders!”

This time, Song Wanning’s smile was genuine. ‘Who wouldn’t be happy to receive gifts?’

After some brief pleasantries, she was free to go choose her living quarters.

At this, Mo Yang Immortal Venerable took out a storage ring and placed it in Song Wanning’s hand.

It was filled with Immortal Stones, talismans, Array Plates, and even some Magical Treasures he had once used—all of which Song Wanning could activate at her current level!

‘She’s just arrived and has nothing. Her movements would be restricted everywhere.’

Mo Yang Immortal Venerable didn’t want her to be bogged down by such mundane matters and have her cultivation delayed.

In his eyes, Song Wanning was his one and only disciple.

Song Wanning thanked him gratefully, her respect for Mo Yang Immortal Venerable deepening even further.

With that taken care of, Mo Yang Immortal Venerable departed.

Song Wanning was about to go find her residence when a few of the elders called out to her.

They crowded around her, faces full of gossip. “Young lady, what’s your relationship with Mo Yang Immortal Venerable? Is he an ancestor of yours?”

“Did you both ascend from the same world?”

Ever since his ascension, Mo Yang Immortal Venerable had been a cold and detached Sword Cultivator, shrouded in mystery.

They knew next to nothing about him; no one had any real knowledge of his past.

Song Wanning shook her head. “No. I only happened to obtain the Immortal Venerable’s legacy by chance. Before that, we had never met.”

At her simple explanation, understanding dawned on the group.

But now, the way they looked at Song Wanning changed once more.

‘Doesn’t that basically make her Mo Yang Immortal Venerable’s personal disciple?’

‘No wonder he went to receive her personally and values her so highly.’

‘We’ll have to instruct our own disciples to get on good terms with Song Wanning.’

The elders finally departed, and Song Wanning was at last able to slip away. A disciple was assigned to lead her to the Miscellaneous Affairs Hall.

First, she registered her information. Then, she received her Disciple Jade Token and a set of Cultivation Materials. The procedure was exactly the same as it had been in the Lower World.

Many curious disciples gathered to watch, but Song Wanning was gradually getting used to the attention. She followed the guide to select her residence.

From within the crowd, Mu Zixu’s young disciple, Ouyang Lin, squeezed his way to the front. He glanced at the name in the registration book and, having confirmed what he needed to know, ran back to his master’s peak.

“Master, this disciple has learned the newcomer’s name. It seems she is not from the Mo Family,” he said, sidling up to Mu Zixu.

“Hmm? Not from the Mo Family?”

Mu Zixu looked at Ouyang Lin in surprise. That was unexpected.

“That’s right. Her name is Song Wanning. Her surname isn’t Mo at all…”

Ouyang Lin replied nonchalantly as he continued to sort the Medicinal Herbs.

“What did you say her name was?”

Mu Zixu’s hands suddenly froze. He paid no mind to the Medicinal Herbs in his grasp, his gaze fixed on Ouyang Lin in utter shock.
