Villainess Trapped in the Horror Game Apocalypse
Chapter 222: I Know
Huo Yingsu’s mind swirled.
Her conscience ached, yet her rationality was telling her that if she didn’t do this, she would be the one who died.
And Huo Yingsu wanted to survive.
It’s not like other people’s lives are not important, but she also has her own reason as to why she had to survive.
So she had to do this.
No matter how much her heart ached, Huo Yingsu put on an ugly smile and said, "I’ll be fine, Huo Ying. I just need time to process this... and the fact that I carried another live behind my back."
The original Huo Yingsu was silent.
To be honest, perhaps some of their actions in the past would have affected other people’s lives one way or another. But even if they knew that there might be others who suffered because of their actions, no one said anything about it.
Because they knew that they could not possibly concern themselves with strangers all the time.
As the young miss of the Huo Family, the original Huo Yingsu has been taught from young that if she wanted to get ahead, she had to trample on other people’s lives. Of course not openly but covertly because many chances could only be obtained through stomping other people.
Stepping on people who had offended them would be much easier for them because they would have the feeling that the other party deserved it.
But stepping on a kind person... it was a challenge to their conscience.
The original Huo Yingsu couldn’t do it.
Even though she watched her own brother do it, she could only stay silent and watch from the side.
Because she knew very well that her family’s actions were all for the sake of the Huo Family and as the beneficiary, the original Huo Yingsu was not qualified to say anything.
Perhaps only when the Huo Family and herself turned against each other could she silently condemn her family.
It was a difficult choice.
"People make mistakes and this time, the cost of your mistake is the lives of others. But you have to live on and try not to make the same mistake again," the original Huo Yingsu said quietly. "This is the apocalypse... it’s simply a world where only the strong live and the weak dies. If you want to survive, you have to stop thinking about these things and upholding your high morale."
Because people with high morale would be the first to die.
Huo Yingsu took a deep breath and said, "I know."
She will keep this matter in her heart and used it as a warning for herself. A constant reminder about how dangerous the Live Stream Horror Survival Game is and how hateful these competition rules were.
But despite apologizing to that player, Huo Yingsu knew very well that she would still repeat the same action if she was given the chance.
Because she didn’t want to die.
And because she knew that only by taking risk and gamble would it be possible for her to get ahead in the Live Stream Horror Survival Game.
The apocalypse has indeed blurred the lines between good and evil...
But at the very least, Huo Yingsu didn’t want to implicate the ’innocent’ unless absolutely necessary.
She wanted to survive.
But if the price of survival was to abandon all humanity and morality, what was the point of survival?
"I know that morality alone could not allow me to survive, but at the very least, I don’t want to implicate others except for my enemies and the truly bad people in my action next time," Huo Yingsu said, her voice had calmed down.
But in its calmness, the original Huo Yingsu could sense a hint of determination.
Something is changing.
The original Huo Yingsu had always paid close attention to Huo Yingsu and naturally noticed the detachment that always existed within Huo Yingsu’s eyes.
From the very beginning, Huo Yingsu might have treated herself as an outsiders.
Because no matter whether it was the original Huo Yingsu’s world or the Live Stream Horror Survival Game, the two of them were nothing more than novel world in Huo Yingsu’s eyes.
Even if she had started to experience it herself, it was difficult to change her mentality all of the sudden.
"You can definitely do it, Huo Yingsu." The original Huo Yingsu smiled.
She knew that Huo Yingsu didn’t mean to do it.
She overlooked this possibility and was too focused on the Star Fruit that was dangling in front of them.
But next time...
Next time there was such a treasure, the original Huo Yingsu believed that Huo Yingsu would have better judgement and would not rush headlong like this again.
...
[...Why am I suddenly feeling touched?]
[The most common scenes during the apocalypse has always been the abandonment of morality and that any kindness will be repaid with nothing but death. It’s extremely common to see people dying in the apocalypse that I was tired of watching it.
Man selling their wives, daughters. Woman selling their own children. Best friends pushing each other to block the knife in times of danger, and so on.
The Live Stream Horror Survival Game had provided us with the best and clearest view to watch all of those. And seeing those hypocritical people claiming themselves to be kind but was actually self serving is the most common]
[I can’t say that Huo Yingsu is the kindest person... A kind and naive person would never be able to survive in the last days. They will be the first to be torn to shreds by the cruel reality. But at the very least, I can say that Huo Yingsu is a responsible person who’s wiling to acknowledge her mistake]
[It’s just that her mistake this time has great cost.]
[Hmm, is there any other way to obtain the Star Fruit without finding any scapegoat? Since if she didn’t take it now... there wouldn’t be any other chance.]
[Tsk. In the apocalypse the most precious and most worthless thing is human life.]
