Villain's Evolution: Investing in My Minions Yields Crazy Returns!
Chapter 59: Want to Correct Fate? Ask Me First [2]
Ignoring the one armed man, Victor went straight for the Hexcaster at the rear!
His opponent clearly had not expected Victor to bypass the Heavy Blade Warrior at the front.
"Stop him!"
Gray black runes had only just illuminated in the Hexcaster’s hands when Victor appeared.
Danger!
Combat Intuition sent a sharp warning through him almost simultaneously, and his body instinctively shifted sideways just as the dagger swept past his ribs.
Slash!
[Successfully evaded an attack that could not be detected in advance through normal vision.]
[Combat Intuition evolution condition: 11/50.]
Victor reached backward with his left hand and grabbed the assassin’s wrist.
[Mana Plunder!]
Boom!
[Successfully plundered 19 points of mana.]
The man’s movements visibly stiffened. Victor released him, used the momentum to turn, and continued driving the Crimson Flame Fang toward the Hexcaster.
The Hexcaster finally completed his first spell.
[Corrosive Chains!]
Three gray black chains shot out simultaneously.
Even though Shadow Blink was still on cooldown, Victor didn’t panic.
The first chain came at his face. He tilted his head and let it pass. As the second swept in, he changed his footing without breaking stride. Combat Intuition caught the third stabbing toward his lower back, and he stepped half a pace forward before it reached him.
All three chains missed!
[12/50.]
[13/50.]
[14/50.]
The Hexcaster’s pupils widened further and further.
Was this some kind of joke?
How could someone at Victor’s level possess such extraordinary reactions?
While he was lost in thought, his opponent was already in front of him, his longsword thrusting forward.
"Save me!"
Boom!
The Heavy Blade Warrior finally arrived, his two handed greatsword crashing down from the side with tremendous force!
Fwooooom!
Victor pivoted, and the longsword that had originally been aimed at the Hexcaster’s chest abruptly changed its trajectory.
Clang!
The Crimson Flame Fang slid down the edge of the greatsword. Instead of directly resisting the impact, Victor redirected it and used the greatsword’s descending force to propel himself rapidly to the side.
The Hexcaster was exposed!
Victor planted his left hand directly against his chest.
[Mana Plunder!]
[Successfully plundered 22 points of mana.]
"Ah!"
A large amount of mana was forcibly torn from his body, instantly interrupting the second curse he had been preparing. The half formed runes shattered, and the resulting backlash drained all color from the Hexcaster’s face.
[Flame Line!]
The crimson blade swept upward from below.
Slash!
Victor angled the strike away from his neck and severed the primary mana channel in his right shoulder. The man screamed as his entire right arm went limp.
But the cry was abruptly cut short when a merciless kick slammed into his chest.
Bang!
The Hexcaster was sent flying more than ten meters away, unable to fight but still breathing.
"You!"
The Heavy Blade Warrior roared as his greatsword came crashing down again with the aim of splitting his opponent apart.
Unfortunately for him, Shadow Blink’s cooldown had ended. Following a burst of shadow, Victor vanished from his spot. When he reappeared, he was directly behind the man.
For the first time, Combat Intuition revealed how terrifying a movement skill like Shadow Blink could truly become. Before, Shadow Blink had merely been fast. Now, it was becoming precise.
At the exact instant his opponent attacked, Victor could move to the position from which it would be most difficult for them to react. He did not even need to calculate it deliberately because his body instinctively found the correct point.
Slash!
Crimson Flame Fang cut through the Heavy Blade Warrior’s leg armor, sending blood spraying out as he dropped to one knee.
But he was still Level 24! He would be damned if he let someone two levels weaker than him defeat him!
Dense mana wrapped around the warrior’s left fist and he swung backward with every fiber of strength in his veins.
Seeing the force of the attack, Victor planted his feet firmly and caught the punch with his free hand.
Bang!
The collision sent a faint numbness through Victor’s arm, but with fifty four points of Strength and fifty one points of Constitution, he was no ordinary Level 22 Magic Swordsman.
The Heavy Blade Warrior’s expression instantly paled, as though all traces of blood had been sucked from his face.
Victor had not been sent flying?
The next moment, Victor’s five fingers clamped around his fist.
[Mana Plunder!]
[Successfully plundered 17 points of mana.]
The mana within the man’s body suddenly emptied.
While he was confused about what was happening, a knee was already smashing into his jaw.
Bang! Crack!
Blood and broken teeth sprayed through the air as the man collapsed completely.
The remaining Windshadow Assassin finally realized that something was wrong.
"Retreat!"
He did not continue attacking Victor. He turned and sprinted toward the far side of the abandoned material zone, pouring all his speed into the escape.
However, he had barely taken three steps when a dark figure stepped directly into his escape path.
Naturally, this person was Evelyn.
[Shadow Assault Step!]
[Night Raven: Silent!]
The assassin’s expression twisted in annoyance. They possessed the same profession, and he was even seven levels above Evelyn. Under normal circumstances, a Level 18 student should never have been capable of stopping him.
"Get out of my way!" His dagger swept horizontally.
Whoosh!
Shadow Assault Step changed Evelyn’s direction, allowing her body to sweep past him from the side as Night Raven merely tapped him lightly.
Slash.
The wound was not that deep, but it had been placed precisely behind his knee, causing the man to lose his balance.
"You..."
Before he could finish speaking, Victor’s deep, masculine voice came from behind him.
"Good catch."
The assassin’s legs turned to jelly, and a small patch of wetness appeared in his nether region.
He turned around, only to see that the crimson blade had already stopped directly before his eyes.
Bang!
Victor slammed the hilt into the assassin’s temple, knocking him unconscious.
[A rank investment target Evelyn Moore has completed a high pressure pursuit interception.]
[Shadow Assault Step proficiency has broken through!]
[Current proficiency: Mastery.]
[Target’s practical combat ability has improved significantly.]
Evelyn exhaled heavily, a faint smile appearing on her face.
"This time, I did better than ’not bad,’ didn’t I?"
Victor looked at her. Her left shoulder was still bleeding, and a small section of her hair had been cut off as well. The fact that she could still remember what he had said two nights ago in this condition meant there truly was nothing seriously wrong with her.
"You were stronger than two nights ago."
"That’s all?"
"What do you want to hear?"
The corner of Evelyn’s mouth twitched. She had expected a shower of praise. Even a simple headpat would have done, but this... this...
"Forget it." She clicked her tongue and followed Victor’s gaze, which had settled on the one armed "Ron."
