The four individuals were heavily injured, and Rize could tell that they were truly on their last feet. One of them held a staff that cast what he could only describe as blue pebbles that fired at the bears. The other three had swords as they engaged the bears.

They were getting outpowered and thrown back with ease.

"ROAR!!!"

One of the bears slammed down on one of them, crushing them on the ground as they coughed a mouthful of saliva.

"Kai!!!"

"Don’t... stop!!" The man said as he grabbed the bear’s paw, trying to get it off of him; however, the bear used its claws as it dragged them across his torso, making him shriek in pain. His skin was getting peeled off like a banana.

His friend rushed to help him as the woman holding the staff shot the pebbles at the bear, making it step back as it held its face. The other man helped his friend away from the claws as he put him against a tree.

"Hold the injury, breathe, it’s gonna be fine, just focus on breathing." The man said as he made his friend drink a potion.

"We’re... gonna die..." The injured man said as he drank the potion. "We can’t defeat these bears; they’re way too strong."

His friend looked over his shoulder and clenched his teeth. The situation was dire, and they were being defeated one by one; they couldn’t continue for long.

"Freya, Dennis! Take Kai with you and run! I will hold them back and give you space to run!"

"What?! No, we can’t do that! We won’t leave you behind!" The man named Dennis yelled as he jumped out of the trajectory of the bear’s sharp fangs.

"What other solution do you have, huh?!"

"We won’t leave you behind! We already left Milio behind!! I won’-"

"ROAR!!!"

The conversation was cut off by another bear as it attacked Freya. The woman tried to run back, but she was far too slow as the monster slammed down with its paw.

"FREYA!!!!" The man yelled at the top of his lungs as he tried to jump to her rescue. At that moment, out of thin air, a shadow appeared in his vision.

*Swish* *BANG*

The monster’s paw slammed down, sending debris everywhere as it looked around frantically. As the dust settled, they all looked, and Freya wasn’t under the bear’s paw as they thought.

Freya closed her eyes as she felt her body get yanked so fast. When she opened them again slowly, she saw a face before. A face so handsome, it made her heart stop for a second. It was so mesmerizing and perfect.

"Am I... dead?" She muttered under her breath. ’Am I seeing an angel?’

"What a mess you guys did," Rize muttered as he put the woman down. "Are you ok, lady?"

Freya stared at the young man with a dazed look on her face before she nodded.

"Ok, stay put; I will take care of things." He said as he brandished his sword and looked at the bears. They were injured and clearly tired from the fight, which was perfect since fighting all three of them at their full capacity was a very bad idea.

Then, Rize looked at the other two. "I’m going to take their aggro; just try to attack whenever you can. Understood?"

"Wha-"

"No time to explain; there is only time to act."

Rize dashed forward like a whirlwind, cutting the distance short in a second. The bear swung his paw, only for Rize to dodge it, and he swung his sword, aiming at its wrist. The blade easily cut through it, leaving the monster crying in pain.

Then, Rize swung his sword again, cutting another leg. The bear fell to the ground before Rize jumped on top of it and stabbed it in the back of the head, killing it on the spot. Pulling the sword out, he looked as another bear leaped at him.

Rize jumped out of the way, reaching several meters in the air before he landed on the ground and dashed to the side. The other bear didn’t waste a breath as it chased him.

’Damn, they’re really relentless.’ Rize clenched his teeth. ’I have an idea.’

Looking at a nearby tree, he dashed toward it before he used it as a support, pushing himself high in the air. Turning around, he aimed himself at the bear.

Like an arrow, he descended on his target with his sword aimed forward. The bear instantly swung its paw with a rawr. The bear instantly realized that the human couldn’t evade its attack. It had got it!

However, suddenly, out of nowhere, Rize shifted his body as he slammed his hand on the monster’s paw, using it as a propeller as he spun in the air, avoiding the attack. The bear couldn’t believe its eyes and before it realized what just occurred, a sword was plunged into its eye socket.

"ROAAAAAR!!!"

The bear jumped back, throwing its body around as it tried to push Rize away. The boy pulled the sword and jumped off as he let the monster suffer the pain. At the same time, the last bear witnessed all of that and looked at Rize.

For the first time in this entire battle, a look of fear flashed before its eyes. This human was far different and far more dangerous. It was able to kill two of its companions with clear ease. That was not something it wanted to fight.

So, it roared and then turned around, running toward the bushes. It disappeared in a second, leaving no trace behind.

"..." Rize blinked a few times before he spat out. "Well, that was a bit underwhelming." He muttered before he walked to the dying bear. "I guess your help wasn’t needed, guys."

"..."

No one spoke; they all stared at him as if he were some kind of alien. They couldn’t believe what they just witnessed.

"Uuuuh, you’re welcome?" Rize said as he stabbed the monster’s head, killing it on the spot before he pulled his sword out. ’They’re really not the respectful kind. I helped you all, and not even one thank you? Unbelievable.’

Sighing to himself, Rize walked to the man at the front who seemed to be their leader. "Are you all ok? Do you need help getting back to the city?"

"No, we’re..." The man snapped out of his daze. "Who are you?"

"Is that important?" Rize asked. "I came across your friend, and he told me that you lot needed help, so I came to help. I’m glad I made it in time."

"Our friend?! Is Milio ok? Did you find him?!" Freya asked as she rushed to Rize.

However, the boy looked away with a dark expression. "I was too late. I’m sorry."

The words fell on them like a boulder as they all froze in place. Freya’s hands shook as she put them to her mouth and started crying while the others broke down in tears.

"Goddamit... We should’ve not come here! We should’ve not ventured this far! We weren’t prepared!" Dennis yelled as he slammed his fist against a tree in anger. "We killed him!!"
