Villain's Refund System: The Protagonist's Harem Is Mine
Chapter 54 Voided
The final arena doors opened before Damien reached them, revealing Rhea alone beneath sponsor banners nobody had authorized her to remove.
Black residue pulsed inside the central ward core while the crowd demanded their match through every repaired barrier.
’Number One waits beside another murder mark and looks annoyed about scheduling, damn, refusing lets the committee own this entire ending.’
Deputy Marshal Corven intercepted Damien at the contestant rail wearing yesterday’s navy robes and two fewer sponsor pins.
"The championship remains formally void, so any additional bout must be classified as a controlled exhibition," he said, presenting one waiver.
"Your controlled semifinal tried collapsing onto several thousand students yesterday," Damien replied, reading the death clause near its bottom.
"Emergency repairs passed independent certification this morning," Corven answered, covering the liability line using his silver stylus.
Mina stepped beside Damien with her fate filter raised toward the black hook inside the core.
"Your independent certification missed active contamination beneath the central seal," she said, projecting its pulse across the waiver, "sign your own death clause first."
The official looked toward sponsor cameras before lowering his voice beneath the crowd’s continuing chant.
"Workshop speculation cannot override tournament engineering," he said, turning irritation toward her, "remove that unauthorized projection immediately."
"Nah, leave it visible while every viewer decides which inspection deserves trust," Damien replied, taking the stylus from Corven’s hand.
’The Benefactor wants this arena active, but walking away gives its shell a clean story, fine, enter under terms they cannot edit.’
He crossed out the exhibition classification and wrote one sentence above the committee seal.
[Damien Sterling relinquishes all claim to the voided tournament title before this bout begins.]
Corven grabbed for the waiver after its public copy appeared on arena screens behind them.
"You cannot surrender a title the committee has not awarded," he said, trying to cancel the posting through his credential.
"Exactly, which means your office cannot call this match an attempt to reclaim it," Damien replied, signing beneath the sentence.
The crowd stopped chanting long enough to read, then cheers rolled around the arena without any sponsor cue.
’No title means the committee loses leverage over the result, good, let Rhea decide whether the fight itself matters.’
Lucas watched from a medical balcony wearing his white shoulder wrap, while three aides stood behind him with appeal tablets lowered.
His expression stayed warm when Damien surrendered the championship claim their camp had spent all night disputing.
"My friend should reconsider throwing away recognition earned through such courage," Lucas called, placing concern carefully inside the live feed.
"Oh, recognition survived inside three million copies after your appeal erased the result," Damien replied, stepping beyond Corven toward the arena.
Public laughter reached the medical balcony before Lucas’s smile settled around the answer.
Rhea met Damien near the central ring with her blunted greatsword balanced across both broad shoulders.
She had removed every sponsor patch from her gray uniform, leaving torn stitches near the half-open collar above black compression gear.
"Your waiver calls this an exhibition," she said, taking the paper between two scarred fingers, "I do not perform those."
"I removed the title and forgot to remove their favorite lie," Damien replied, letting her tear the classification section away.
"A real fight needs no trophy," Rhea answered, dropping the ruined paper at Corven’s polished shoes, "points settle who performed better today."
’No Death Flag, scripted insult or reward, shit, she genuinely came here to test whether my sword deserves attention.’
Mina reached the central core before officials could block her, pushing three copper probes around its black residue without touching the hook.
"This contamination wakes around fate displacement rather than ordinary mana," she said, checking Rhea’s steady profile, "your match may never feed it."
"May remains a terrible safety guarantee," Bram added from the media rail, holding four emergency barrier controls against his narrow chest.
"Place one analog feed on each anchor and trigger evacuation if the hook moves," Damien replied, fastening Verdict near his left hip.
"That plan still places you beside the contaminated core," Bram said, already assigning each recording position through his tablet.
"He chose the danger after hearing it clearly," Rhea replied, looking toward Mina rather than Damien, "does his workshop permit that?"
Mina straightened beneath the taller woman’s stare while one copper probe continued measuring the mark.
"My workshop permits choices and charges heavily for stupid consequences," she said, returning Verdict after checking its temperature.
Rhea nodded once, accepting the answer without treating Mina as equipment attached to her opponent.
’She asked the person managing the risk instead of assuming I own her work, good, Number One understands more than fighting.’
Corven entered the ring beside two judges and tried restoring committee language before the live broadcast resumed.
"This unsanctioned exhibition carries no rank consequence or certified competitive standing," he announced, positioning himself between both fighters.
"Move before your expensive shoes become the opening target," Rhea said, lowering her greatsword from one shoulder.
The deputy marshal left without finishing his statement, drawing laughter from every stand he had threatened yesterday.
Tournament screens replaced official graphics with student channels showing Mina’s live residue scan beside Bram’s analog anchor feeds.
No quest panel appeared near Damien’s vision when he stepped into the starting square across from Rhea.
[No Script event detected]
[No Death Flag detected]
[No attached reward]
’Nothing tries buying this decision, damn, the empty panel feels cleaner than any jackpot.’
Rhea planted her blunted greatsword point against stone and studied Damien without looking toward Verdict’s golden tally.
"Use whichever skills prove your current level," she said, shifting one boot behind the blade, "hide something only if secrecy matters more."
"Reckoning would turn a point match into emergency architecture again," Damien replied, opening his coat around the saber grip.
"Then leave it unused and show me what remains," she answered, lifting the greatsword through one relaxed hand.
The arena announcer asked both fighters to acknowledge exhibition restrictions before starting the unofficial bout.
Rhea pointed her weapon toward his booth until he removed the word from every active screen.
"This match has no title, sponsor or committee classification," the announcer corrected, swallowing beneath her amber gaze, "points decide its result."
’She bullied accurate language into existence through one sword point, Corven will dream about this woman for years.’
Damien opened Eye of Reckoning and found no hidden fate lines around Rhea’s stance.
Her level remained an honest wall above nine hundred, with every visible weakness protected through better fundamentals than his own.
[Rhea Kestrel]
[Level: 914]
[Ascension Board: 1]
"Your Eye found something useful?" she asked, reading the focus near his pupils without moving her guard.
"It confirmed getting hit by that weapon remains medically discouraging," Damien replied, drawing Verdict through Silverlight Draw.
"Good, fear keeps lazy fighters awake," Rhea said, raising the blunt edge until compressed air moved across the ring.
Mina’s probes stayed dark around the Benefactor hook while the crowd leaned toward the transparent barrier.
Bram raised one analog crystal, and Vivienne appeared near his rail wearing her white half-cape over tournament clothes.
She looked from Rhea toward Damien before resting both hands around the crossed hilts beneath her coat.
’Mina guards the core, Bram records reality and Vivienne came without being asked, plenty of reasons to make this loss expensive for Rhea.’
The starting bell rang without sponsor music or a quest notice.
Rhea crossed ten meters through one ordinary step and swung her blunted greatsword toward Damien’s entire guard.
