Glass walls surrounded Halcrest’s neutral conservatory, leaving every entrance visible beneath rows of medicinal trees and academy lamps.

Vivienne waited beside an empty stone table wearing regulation white uniform, with both Ashe sword hilts resting above her crossed cape pin.

’She wore full house colors after rejecting their order, damn, defiance looks sharper when nobody needs guessing.’

Damien entered alone and placed Verdict inside the neutral weapon rack before approaching her designated side of the table.

"Your acceptance included no amendments or requests for private access," Vivienne said, checking the empty doorway behind him.

"Your terms already protected both people inside this meeting," he replied, taking the chair opposite hers, "what useful amendment remained?"

"The man I knew would have treated separate exits as an insult," she answered, setting one white folder between them.

"Yeah, that man treated boundaries like proof nobody loved him enough," Damien replied, keeping both hands away from her file.

’She came to compare two versions of me without knowing why the difference exists, give honest answers until truth reaches Earth.’

Vivienne opened the folder onto gala recordings, flood maps and the poisoned reception route marked through blue ink.

Each event carried Damien’s prediction beside the moment he changed position before ordinary evidence justified movement.

"You know where danger will occur before instruments detect it," she said, tapping the gala seat where its killing ward had waited.

"Sometimes," Damien replied, refusing the easier lie that instincts explained everything.

"Your certainty has declined since Flood Line," she continued, placing later predictions beside wider margins, "and wrong guesses now frighten you more."

’She mapped foreknowledge corrosion from my behavior, fuck, formal Vivienne becomes terrifying when given enough paper.’

"That is accurate," he said, letting discomfort remain visible instead of covering it through another joke.

"You also stopped pursuing me after the engagement ended, though every intervention keeps placing you near my lethal routes," she said.

"I want you alive without expecting survival to purchase affection afterward," Damien replied, feeling the words strike original fear beneath his ribs.

Vivienne’s fingers tightened around the blue pen until its cap pressed pale against one knuckle.

"Mina retains control over her workshop, inventions and relationship with you," she said, changing the page before emotion settled.

"Yes, and anything less would turn partnership into another kind of theft," he answered, watching her steel-blue gaze rise.

’She noticed Mina’s autonomy since it proves whether my changes are another performance, good, let the evidence answer.’

Vivienne closed the folder and removed one prepared cooperation agreement beneath the investigation pages.

"I believe you know where knives will fall without knowing every hand holding them," she said, placing the document near him.

"That description feels unpleasantly accurate," Damien replied, reading her six operational terms before touching the signature field.

"My authority remains independent during every joint action," she said, resting one palm across her sword hilts, "you issue no unexplained command."

"Agreed, though emergencies may only leave time for whatever reason fits inside one breath," Damien answered, waiting for her response.

"Then I decide whether that reason justifies action," Vivienne said, adding one handwritten clarification beside the term.

"Agreed," he replied, moving toward the second line without bargaining for broader permission.

’She expected resistance, damn, each quick acceptance makes her angrier instead of calmer.’

"I may end cooperation without owing loyalty, intimacy or continued access to House Ashe resources," she said, pushing the agreement closer.

"Agreed, and any evidence you contributed remains available for your protection afterward," Damien replied, writing that addition beneath her clause.

Vivienne put down the pen harder than the stone table deserved, making one medicinal leaf tremble beside her sleeve.

"You accepted every restriction before asking what cooperation gives you," she said, blunt irritation cracking through formal control.

"Well, your continued presence during lethal events sounds useful enough without access to anything personal," Damien replied, meeting her eyes.

"That answer should not be unusual," she said, then looked toward the garden beyond his shoulder, "yet I prepared arguments for an hour."

’Original Damien trained her to expect bargaining around her body, fuck, no wonder easy acceptance feels insulting instead of safe.’

"You deserved those terms during our engagement too," he said, naming the failure without claiming he could repair its history.

Pain tightened Vivienne’s mouth before she signed the operational agreement using her current Ashe field title.

Damien signed beneath her while leaving every intimacy clause untouched except for the release protection already written.

[Operational cooperation registered]

[Independent authority preserved]

[No Fate Bond formed]

The final line surprised him through relief, since the system recognized their choice without converting it into a reward.

"Your invisible attention changed," Vivienne said, reading his face after the panel vanished, "did something approve the agreement?"

"It recorded our operational terms without attaching ownership or payment," Damien replied, offering the safest complete truth available.

"Something records your relationships," she said, and suspicion sharpened every word before he could soften the implication.

"Only when scripted pressure touches somebody’s future," he answered, stopping before explanation exposed the novel beneath reality.

’Too close, damn, she will reach the impossible answer eventually if I keep giving her honest edges.’

Vivienne studied him until a house messenger arrived beyond the conservatory glass carrying one white command case.

She permitted entry through a hand signal without leaving her chair or closing their signed agreement.

"Lady Ashe, your cooperation filing violates today’s direct family prohibition," the messenger said, placing the case near her sword hand.

"House review lacks authority over academy operational agreements," Vivienne replied, opening the order where Damien could read.

"Your two security commands are suspended until formal compliance," he said, keeping his gaze below her face, "withdrawal restores them immediately."

"Inform my father that borrowed authority cannot purchase my signature," she answered, folding the suspension order beneath their agreement.

’Formal until pressure reaches the choice, then blunt and rude, there she is, damn.’

The messenger left with no withdrawal while conservatory cameras recorded her refusal through neutral academy storage.

Lucas entered the outer walkway beside two student representatives and saw Damien’s name beneath Vivienne’s registered cooperation seal.

His step paused before public warmth reached his expression, exposing one clean second of surprise through the glass.

"Lady Ashe, I hope any new partnership supports your safety after recent events," he said, stopping outside their open meeting boundary.

"My safety improves when cooperation begins with informed terms," Vivienne replied, keeping the signed folder visible beneath one hand.

"Naturally, and Damien has shown admirable concern throughout the tournament," Lucas answered, aiming courtesy toward every watching camera.

"This agreement concerns my judgment rather than his concern," she said, closing the conversation before he could enter it.

’Most photographed girl at Halcrest publicly chose an agreement with me and denied Lucas any claim over the decision, brutal.’

Lucas congratulated both of them before leaving through the walkway, though his smile reached position one beat late.

Vivienne watched him depart and reopened her personal copy of the agreement beneath the medicinal lights.

"I will ask what records your relationships another day," she said, placing her signature page inside the white cape.

"Another day sounds considerably better than inventing a lie tonight," Damien replied, standing beyond his separate exit.

The system opened one quiet line near the glass wall after Vivienne left through her chosen door.

[Future Fate Bond milestone detected]

[Reward withheld until informed choice]

Damien closed the panel and carried their signed operational terms back toward Mina’s workshop.
