Isolde answered before the second ring, her voice arriving through the workshop receiver with none of last night’s reception polish.

"Tell me which future requires my arrest, and do not soften it for Marlowe comfort," she said, closing something metallic nearby.

’Straight into the knife, damn, she already knows this call carries bad news.’

Damien placed the glass case between Mina and Bram while the corrupted Script Page shifted beneath its copper clamps.

"The page says your execution frame happens next month, while my intact memory places that event at year’s end," he replied, turning the display toward her mirror channel.

"Your memory has already lost an entire year opening," Isolde answered, with one hard click behind her voice, "why should the older version win?"

"It should not win automatically, though the page returned with Correction residue and changed itself after purchase," Damien said, keeping one hand above the case.

’Good question, if I choose the date I like, I am just hiding fear inside foreknowledge.’

Isolde appeared through the mirror wearing a black Marlowe travel coat, with red hair tied tightly behind a pale face and green eyes fixed on the darker script.

Her right hand held a narrow poison vial, while the other kept a folded house notice against her waist.

"Show me every line before the date changed," she said, leaning closer to the mirror, "I want the lie preserved beside whatever truth remains."

Mina moved the case beneath a copper reader without touching the glass.

"The page changed one timing line after purchase," she said, drawing residue through a side channel, "the event structure stayed stable."

"So the killer, accusation and execution route remain probable," Isolde replied, opening the Marlowe notice, "only the calendar moved."

"Maybe, though the target could change once the earlier frame activates," Damien answered, reading the page’s black corner.

’Two dates and several ways to die, great, uncertainty finally learned how to multiply.’

Bram pulled the workshop shutters closed and placed a neutral academy route across the central table.

"House Marlowe can seize Isolde’s movement through family law if the frame attaches before public registration," he said, pointing toward three city gates.

"Then remove every Marlowe-controlled route from her survival plan immediately," Damien replied, marking the eastern canal with Mina’s copper stylus.

"I can arrange independent custody through academy neutral authority," Isolde said, adding her seal to the canal route, "the cost will offend my mother."

"Your mother already prepared to arrest you," Damien replied, watching her expression harden, "offense has become a cheap expense."

Isolde smiled without amusement and placed the folded notice beside the Script Page.

"The family order suspends my private travel after next month’s first bell," she said, sliding one green vial toward the mirror, "that means the page may be warning us about their timing."

"Or the Benefactor wants us building around a false date," Mina answered, sealing one residue sample inside a brass tube, "either option deserves equal preparation."

’Mina rejects the page’s authority and Isolde refuses her family’s, damn, this room has too many women capable of making plans sharper than mine.’

They split the work into two branches across the table, writing separate response times beneath each possible date.

[Branch one: Next month execution]

[Custody control: Neutral academy authority]

[Primary target: Isolde]

[Antidote route: Marlowe east canal]

[Branch two: Year-end execution]

[Custody control: Independent Marlowe evidence vault]

[Primary target: Unknown frame successor]

[Antidote route: Ancestral reception cellar]

Damien added a third line beneath both branches and stopped when every face turned toward him.

[Shared condition: Preserve Isolde’s evidence before any arrest]

"No, that condition comes first," Isolde said, taking the stylus from his hand, "if they seize my files, both dates become weapons against me."

She divided her evidence into six small kits containing antidote samples, custody records and copies of every Marlowe order.

Each kit received a different carrier, while none remained inside a house vault that could be closed by one signature.

"You prepared all these evidence kits before I called this evening," Damien said, watching the poison vials enter numbered sleeves.

"I prepared for arrest after the reception, because your clean cuffs made the assassin’s handler more frightened than his dead employee," Isolde replied.

’She expected retaliation before seeing the page, yeah, Isolde survives by treating every celebration as a trap.’

Bram built a neutral evacuation route through academy clinics, a public ferry terminal and one grocery vault owned by his aunt.

"The route cannot be seized by Marlowe law without a public academy violation," he explained, connecting each location with blue thread, "and my aunt hates nobles enough to defend the locks."

"Your family grocery vault has become suspiciously important to us," Damien replied, passing him the second evidence kit.

"It has three mundane locks and an owner who keeps a hammer beneath the counter," Bram answered, placing the kit inside a padded satchel.

"Ancient houses spend fortunes on wards while your aunt trusts hardware," Mina said, tightening the last copper clamp around the page.

’Boring security wins another Chapter, fine, give the hammer its respect.’

Mina’s residue scan separated the Script Page’s original ink from black-gold Correction threads.

The uncorrupted lines described a Marlowe reception, a poison cabinet and a public confession that never belonged to the next month version.

The corrupted lines added a sealed convoy, a new witness and one erased name beneath the execution frame.

"The future is not merely early," Mina said, placing both scans beside the case, "the correction rebuilt the route around another location."

"The page may be a real future that became wrong after we touched it," Damien replied, feeling the missing Year Two gap press behind his eyes.

"Or it was wrong before purchase and the residue only made that visible," Mina answered, refusing to let the uncertainty settle into one shape.

’Both answers survive the evidence, damn, planning without certainty feels like fighting fog with a ledger.’

The system opened above the war table after Damien recorded both branches without choosing one.

[Open risk: Isolde execution frame, corrupted timing]

’Eight thousand experience beside the same liquid SP reserve, weirdly tidy numbers for a life this ugly.’

Isolde read the panel through the mirror without asking where it came from, then looked toward Damien’s face instead.

"You keep checking numbers before danger arrives," she said, setting the empty vial beside her travel coat, "does your confidence depend on them?"

"No, the numbers tell me how many mistakes my body can afford before the next event," Damien replied, closing the status sheet.

"That answer sounds more honest than false confidence right now," Isolde said, opening a fresh poison case, "keep it."

Mina shut the glass case after confirming the page could not alter any copied line outside its presence.

"The expedition notice arrived five days early," she said, turning the academy schedule toward Damien, "departure is tomorrow morning."

The paper showed Averill’s rift shelf beneath six expedition days, with first-year squads assigned beside instructors and medical caches.

Damien remembered the original calamity on day six, forty students dying so Lucas could stand among their names wearing grief like a crown.

’No, the page can wait, the shelf killed forty people in the novel, and now its schedule is moving before I reach the breach.’

Vivienne’s message entered the workshop before anyone could ask whether she traveled with the convoy.

[House Ashe assigns me as expedition security. Your squad remains under independent academy command.]

Damien read the line while Mina began packing residue tools and Isolde closed her evidence case.

"All three futures now share one expedition," Bram said, staring at the roster, "that cannot be coincidence anymore."

"No, it is a location where every threat expects me to arrive," Damien replied, taking the corrupted page into paired custody.

Outside the workshop windows, Averill’s departure bells began ringing one full day ahead of schedule.

The rift shelf’s first mana reading arrived before the convoy left campus, and Damien understood the calamity was no longer waiting for expedition day six.
