Waking Up To A Broken Engagement, I Instantly Turns Into A Mad Dog
Chapter 206: The God-Commanding Card
Chapter 206: Chapter 206: The God-Commanding Card
From the West back to the academy took at least three days at the fastest; three days later happened to be exactly the start of the semester.
Taking advantage of this time, Jeremy reorganized his personal skill cards.
The six awakened light cards were currently: Order, Reversed Fate, Tide (attack control system), Moon Soul (healing), Star Edge (specializing in morphing, the Star Edge Card could transform into any weapon form without limits), along with Illusionary Dream (specializing in causing hallucinations).
The wordless darkness cards were respectively: Devil, Death Curse (devouring system skill), Reversed Moon (barrier domain), God-Stealing.
The six light cards all had an ivory white background, bordered by a thin gold thread, the card face embossed with hidden divine runes that only clearly appeared when infused with magic power. The four darkness cards, conversely, had completely blank faces without a single stroke of text, the background so black it absorbed the surrounding light, hence being called wordless.
The previously awakened card souls of Order, Reversed Fate, and Devil, after the Myriad Words Card morphed into the God-Commanding Card, their abilities also followed in evolving and upgrading.
Currently, combining both light and dark cards together, whether it was damage, healing, or control, he wasn’t lacking a single thing.
Furthermore, after the Myriad Words Card upgraded into the God-Commanding Card, it could already be considered the Divine Artifact of the Supreme Mark, no longer a Sacred Weapon.
Also because of this reason, in the future, Sylas couldn’t use the souls of these cards either.
Relying on the later attached ability of Spirit Covenant 305 [Twin Souls Covenant], Sylas could only share his cultivation. And he could also only use Sylas’s three currently awakened skills. As for the other skills, he had to wait until his brother woke up to figure it out further.
After all, Sylas didn’t belong to the Supreme Mark, therefore he had no qualification to use the God-Commanding Card.
But the unevolved Myriad Words Card was still one of his six Sacred Weapons.
Although the later awakened card souls couldn’t reach the power of the God-Commanding Card, they couldn’t be underestimated either.
Additionally, Sylas also had the chance for a second Mark awakening, and synchronized with his older brother’s cultivation, so Jeremy also wasn’t worried that Sylas’s cultivation progress would be affected.
Summoning the card souls out and spreading them on the table in the carriage, Jeremy pulled out the Star Edge and God-Stealing cards.
These two cards had only recently awakened; he had never used them either.
The God-Stealing Card lay isolated in a corner of the table. Compared to the other three darkness cards, this card’s background was a notch darker; placed next to the window, it still failed to catch half a ray of sunlight. He reached out to touch it, and his fingertips instantly went numb, like pressing against a metal surface in the middle of winter.
Jeremy pulled his hand back, not infusing more magic power.
This type of card only allowed ten strikes per lifetime; using it wrong once meant permanently losing a slot. That matter had to wait until an opponent worthy of spending a slot on appeared.
The God-Stealing Card currently had no opportunity, but the Star Edge Card could be tested a bit.
Specializing in morphing... The exclusive ability of Spirit Covenant 305 was also transformation, but its limits were just those few types.
So what was the limit of the Star Edge Card?
Jeremy infused magic power in, trying to transform it into a rapier.
The card face dissolved into glowing dust; the glowing dust extended, tightened, and then solidified into a slender sword blade resting neatly in his palm. The blade was still warm, like it was just drawn from the furnace.
It succeeded, and what’s more, it consumed almost no magic power.
Seeing this, Jeremy then tried a few other forms.
Fan, flute, lute, throwing knives, lunar blades, silk threads... (omitted)... levitating sharp feathers.
Every time he switched, the glowing dust merely dispersed and gathered within a single breath. The lute even had its strings properly tuned; plucking it experimentally actually produced a real sound.
Testing over ten types, the soul of the Star Edge Card finally gave a directive: the morphing limit was thirty types.
Only at this point did Jeremy stop his hand.
A weapon that could transform into myriad forms was indeed a good thing, but currently, he didn’t have enough mental energy to control that many forms.
Thirty types; using five types in actual combat was already a lot. The rest could just be left there, to be figured out when needed.
He chose the five forms he was most accustomed to, consecutively switching back and forth three rounds until the transformation speed shrank down to half a breath, before finally withdrawing the card.
The hard part didn’t lie in transforming it, but in the fact that amidst a clash, the hand must accurately remember what it was holding.

After withdrawing the God-Commanding Card back into the Sacred Weapon space, the mark on the back of his hand started to burn hot again.
Ever since he reached tier four, this mark had appeared again, and what’s more, it was clearer than when it first started appearing; it was probably silently urging him to quickly accept the inheritance left by the Mermaid Emperor.
The scale-shaped patterns bulged beneath his skin, running along the tendons of his hand, pulsing hot in time with his heartbeat.
Jeremy used magic power to suppress that restlessness, raising his hand to pour a glass of water and downing it.
Speaking of those prophecies... or exactly the future images seen through the Heavenly Orbit Array inside the undersea tower of the Dead Land. Initially, he was still wondering what those things symbolized, but during this inheritance trial, he got his answer.
Those few future scenes all appeared in the inheritance trial, treated as illusions.
The first scene in the graveyard, the dead were all acquaintances, and the person pierced through by the sword was exactly him.
More accurately, it was a clone in the illusion.
He stood there, watching the blade pierce through his own chest, counting every beat until that shadow collapsed onto the ground.
Only after personally experiencing despair could he escape that illusion.
As for the second scene in the garden, he still existed as an observing outsider. That world had no existence of him at all; he had been completely forgotten.
The entire five-person team still sat around the tea table in the garden, still talking, still laughing, it was just that his spot had no chair, and no one went to look for one either.
Ultimately, he had to forcefully shatter that layer of illusion to escape.
As for the third scene in front of the water mirror.
It was exactly Sylas and him.
Set up a death match slaughtering each other; whoever wins is the one who lives.
Of course, the Sylas inside was merely an illusion, while he existed in reality, just completely devoid of memories.
The final method of breaking it... naturally was killing everyone in that space.
Thinking about those brutal, bloody scenes, Jeremy’s head started to ache again.
The terror and pain experienced during the trial were psychological shadows that couldn’t be erased in a short time.
Jeremy stopped his associations, forcing himself to relax and rest.
He pulled the carriage curtains down, leaned his back against the seat, and listened to the sound of wheels rolling over the clouds for a long stretch.
Only like this could he reach his best state to reunite with his teammates three days later.
