War God Long Ao
Chapter 618: 1 Chess Piece
Chapter 618: Chapter 618: 1 Chess Piece
Watching the figure disappear, Shi Potian’s expression suddenly turned frigid.
It was terrifyingly grim, as dark an expression as one could imagine.
As the most outstanding disciple of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect, Shi Potian was used to being on a pedestal. The women who adored him were countless, with the sole exception of Yuyin.
She was a special woman who simply wouldn’t accept him. No matter what he tried, Yuyin steadfastly refused him.
The more Yuyin refused him, the more Shi Potian wanted her. Men were often like that—the more they couldn’t have something, the more they desired it.
"Nether God, I want Yuyin. Just name your price."
"Yuyin’s heart already belongs to someone else. It will be difficult."
"Who’s the man Yuyin likes? I’ll go kill him right now."
Shi Potian was brimming with confidence. No matter who it was, he could cut them down. Between his personal strength and the power of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect, he was not someone to be trifled with.
’He dares to compete with me for a woman?’
’Courting death.’
Shi Potian didn’t take this rival seriously, no matter who he was. But the Nether God spoke with a helpless tone, "Though this man isn’t powerful, he is the one Yuyin loves most. If you kill him, believe me, you will never have her in this lifetime."
"Then what should I do?"
Before the Nether God could answer, Shi Potian continued, "If you can help me get Yuyin, I’ll agree to any condition you name, no matter what it is."
It had to be said, the offer was very tempting.
Although Shi Potian hadn’t agreed to a specific task yet, a promise from him—the strongest disciple of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect and wielder of the Ten Thousand Beasts Order—was worth an extraordinary amount.
The Nether God finally smiled. "Help me with one thing, and I promise I’ll help you win Yuyin."
After hearing the Nether God’s condition, Shi Potian was stunned for a moment. Then, he gritted his teeth and nodded. "Fine. It’s a deal."
"A promise is a promise."
After a moment’s thought, the Nether God said, "Young Master Shi, you must remember this: to win Yuyin’s heart, you must first defeat that man."
"Who is he, exactly?"
"You must promise me that you won’t make a move against this person until Yuyin has accepted you. If I find out you have, I won’t let you off easy. What’s more, you can forget about ever having her."
"I understand. I’ll do as you say."
In truth, the Nether God wasn’t too worried. Shi Potian had a reputation for keeping his word. Since he had already agreed, he likely wouldn’t move against Long Ao.
"Long Ao of Red Fire Town. He’s in Kyushu now and has become quite famous."
"Long Ao?"
He was surprised, even shocked. Shi Potian had never imagined that the man the Nether God spoke of, the man Yuyin loved, would be none other than Long Ao—the very man with whom he had an agreement.
"You know Long Ao?"
Shi Potian nodded. Without hiding anything, he recounted the entire history between himself and Long Ao. However, he didn’t mention a single word about their agreement.
After hearing the story, the Nether God sighed with a hint of melancholy, then said with a cold smirk, "Young Master Shi, if you truly want to win Yuyin’s heart, then when Long Ao arrives, you must defeat him in a fair fight. Show Long Ao that you are the more powerful man."
"Remember, no tricks or schemes. Defeat Long Ao with your own, undisputable power."
"Hahaha."
Throwing his head back with three loud laughs, Shi Potian declared with heroic arrogance, "Nether God, you think too highly of Long Ao. His talent might be decent, but in my eyes, he’s nothing more than a pawn. I will defeat him fair and square—and I’ll do it right in front of Yuyin."
"How you handle this is up to you. I know nothing about it. Likewise, I haven’t said a word."
"Nether God, about you letting Yuyin enter that place... what if something happens to her?"
The Nether God was no fool; he naturally understood Shi Potian’s concern. "Rest assured," he said, "Yuyin carries a Venerable Divine Artifact from my Sect. Unless she runs into an expert on your father’s level, she will be perfectly safe."
Hearing this, Shi Potian finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Neither Shi Potian nor the Nether God spoke again, each seemingly lost in their own thoughts. Their cooperation was, in the end, simply a matter of mutual benefit.
Gazing toward the distant Kyushu, Shi Potian suddenly muttered to himself, "Long Ao."
「Dragon Sect, Rear Mountain Forbidden Land.」
At the peak of a mountain, Long Ao was quietly in his Cultivation, trying to comprehend the Divine Calculation Dao and perceive the Chaos Stele. Suddenly, he raised his head and looked toward a certain direction. He didn’t know why, but his heart had just started to pound violently, as if something was about to happen.
’What’s wrong with me?’
He shook his head helplessly. Lately, Long Ao had been feeling very agitated. Even so, he forced himself to continue trying to comprehend the Divine Calculation Dao and perceive the Chaos Stele.
The more he tried to comprehend and perceive them, the more anxious and frustrated he became.
Long Ao had always been confident in his talent. Normally, he could grasp any Cultivation Technique or Martial Arts with incredible speed. But when it came to the Divine Calculation Dao and the Chaos Stele, he had no success, no matter how hard he tried.
’What is going on?’
With no other choice, Long Ao could only sit back down and continue trying to perceive the Chaos Stele and comprehend the Divine Calculation Dao.
Just then, joy surged in Long Ao’s heart. He could clearly feel a sudden stir from the Chaos Stele inside his body.
Before he could figure out what was happening, the Chaos Stele floated out of him, hovering silently in mid-air. Then, from within the Stone Stele, a stream of illegible characters shot forth.
Without a doubt, Long Ao knew that these characters were the Martial Arts contained within the Chaos Stele. Overjoyed, he immediately began to perceive them, hoping to successfully grasp this legendary Super Martial Skill.
But, to Long Ao’s immense frustration, no matter how he tried, he couldn’t decipher the meaning of these characters. He could only stare at them, completely unable to achieve any real comprehension.
Staring at it without being able to comprehend was like a client in a brothel who could only look at a prostitute but not touch her. Now tell me, isn’t that agonizing?
’What the hell is going on?’
Long Ao was depressed to no end. He had no idea what to do. The Chaos Stele had revealed its Martial Arts, yet he was unable to obtain it.
After a full half-hour, the Chaos Stele returned to his Dantian. Long Ao was left empty-handed, with absolutely nothing to show for it.
As Long Ao stared into the endless void, feeling utterly dejected, Shi Potian’s figure suddenly appeared. "Brother Long, it’s been a while," he said. "In just a few short months, you’ve really shot to fame in Kyushu."
