Chapter 1432: Chapter 608: Dragon (Second Update Requesting Subscription)

PS: Finally got it out, that wasn’t easy.

Dragons are an extremely powerful and intelligent race.

Before the Ancient Saints came to this world, dragons were its ruling race; once, they were the masters of all things. Before the Ancient Saints descended, the entire Continent was nothing but Giant Dragon lairs, and these mighty beings fought ceaselessly in the skies above, battling over their own territories.

But after the Ancient Saints arrived, everything changed.

No matter how strong the dragons were, they could not compare to the Ancient Saints’ Power of Creation or the Demon Toads’ ability to move mountains and fill seas. Under the Ancient Saints’ suppression, the number of dragons began to dwindle. More importantly, the Ancient Saints started to alter the planet’s orbit, and the climate of the whole world changed, no longer suitable for dragons to roam. The surviving dragons began to seek secluded places to hide away. The age of dragons gradually passed; many were hunted by adventure-loving humans or Dwarfs, and most of the remaining dragons hid in remote mountain ranges, spending their days in slumber.

Even so, some warriors strong enough could still ride dragons into battle. Dragons possess the power to crush armies and burn fleets and cities; they are creatures of tremendous intimidation, and their abilities are rightly feared. After all, who would want to face a gigantic, flying, fire-breathing monster as an enemy?

There are not many dragons left in the world now. Aside from the Dark Elves’ lair of Naglos, the High Elves’ Calado Volcano, and the Wood Elves’ Rift Forest—where flocks of dragons still slumber—the remaining dragons have either been killed or have fled deep into the mountains.

"Within the High Elf Calado Kingdom’s volcano, a great many dragons lie sleeping." The Lake Fairy controlled Surya’s body; holding Laine’s hand, she sat in the broad courtyard of the Imperial Palace and spoke at length to everyone: "In the prehistoric age, at its height, the Elf Empire’s Dragon Knight legion once numbered over twenty thousand, all mounted on Giant Dragons. These Giant Dragons fought a war of no-quarter with the Chaos Legion."

"More than twenty thousand..." Emperor Carl Franz suddenly felt a certain powerlessness.

He knew well what kind of might dragons possessed, and he also knew the story of the First Phoenix King, "Defender" Ailario.

More than twenty thousand Dragon Knights still failed to defeat Chaos, and in the end it took Calado the Dragon Tamer’s Great Vortex Plan to barely drive out the Chaos Forces?

The Lake Fairy ignored the Emperor’s words and naturally continued speaking about dragons.

Because of the climate changes, the dragons’ period of activity gradually shortened, and then, due to the extinction of the last Dragon Tamer family during the Battle of Longbeard, the once-invincible high elf Dragon Knight legion became a thing of history. The remaining Dragon Princes could only fight mounted on Pure-blooded Elf Warhorses.

And as time retired from the stage, the Calado Volcano slowly cooled. This caused the Giant Dragons within the volcano to lose their vitality; one after another, they fell into deep sleep, becoming ever harder to awaken. Precisely because true Dragon Knights grew fewer and fewer, the Calado Kingdom, which had once held an extremely high status in the High Elf War Council and in day-to-day politics, gradually became marginalized. No Dragon Prince of the Calado Kingdom has been chosen as Phoenix King again. In the Calado Royal Court of today, the roars of Giant Dragons are almost never heard; there are only the scattered and hollow footsteps of Dragon Princes, echoing in lonely fashion through the once-glorious and magnificent Royal Court.

After the Lake Fairy finished telling this tale, Laine was still all right, but both Emperor Carl Franz and Amelia fell into deep thought. Their minds connected the dots: the High Elves had already fallen from former glory into desolation; if the Old World still pinned its hopes on the high elves, that would be sheer folly.

"Then, Lady Surya, why was that dragon called a Silver Moon Dragon?" The Emperor thought that this wife of Laine really knew a lot—rather unlike knowledge a human could reach. However, since Tygris had personally set foot in the Old World, it was just barely reasonable for Surya to know so much. Seizing the opportunity, the Emperor asked the question he cared about most: "Apart from color and species, are there other distinctions among dragons?"

"Dragons are a kind of creature that only needs to sleep in order to grow stronger." The Lake Fairy briefly told Emperor Carl Franz some history; she held Laine’s hand and gestured for him to listen until she was done: "By age, dragons are roughly divided into three types: Fiery Sun Dragons, Silver Moon Dragons, and Radiant Star Dragons."

Dragons can be classified by age; as they grow older, they grow larger and larger, gaining better protection and greater strength.

Fiery Sun Dragons are the youngest, the most passionate, and the most energetic.

Silver Moon Dragons are relatively older, possessing more formidable power and rich combat experience.

Radiant Star Dragons are the oldest and most powerful of dragonkind. One is enough to trample an entire army, flatten towns and farmlands, and devour all the herds. Once a Radiant Star Dragon is enraged and begins its slaughter, almost no creature or hero can defeat it in anything resembling a fair fight, including a Chaos Great Demon.

However, Radiant Star Dragons are also very few in number. Almost all existing Radiant Star Dragons lose themselves in guarding their hoards, unable to extricate themselves; they generally snore away inside the Calado Kingdom’s volcanoes.

The older a dragon is, the stronger and more invincible it indeed becomes—but in some respects things actually reverse. As age increases, a dragon’s speed will slow slightly, and then there is its energy. Fiery Sun Dragons are the most active, whereas by the time of the Radiant Star Dragons, the vast majority of their time is spent sleeping. Sometimes a Dragon Prince will go without food or drink, singing dragon songs for five or six days in a row to awaken this ultimate super-weapon, and the Radiant Star Dragon’s response is merely to roll over, squash the Dragon Prince flat in passing, let out a yawn, and continue sleeping.

Therefore, how best to make use of the brief time when a Radiant Star Dragon is awake—how to fully exploit the terrifying power of a Radiant Star Dragon—has always been a key focus of the Dragon Princes’ studies.

"I see..." After listening to the Lake Fairy’s long discourse, the Emperor slowly nodded. He immediately ordered his subordinates to write down everything: "Record all of it!"

"Yes!"

...I am the dividing line that recorded everything...

At the same time, in the Imperial Capital, Brunswick, at the Royal Hotel.

Laine and the others had all gone out, leaving Ollica and Sylvia in the hotel to look after the children. Little Frederick and Little Devenshill were playing together; the little rabbit named Amia was set down on the floor, hopping about.

"Doo~ Look at my fortress, it’s indestructible!" Little Frederick used building blocks to make a fortress and said proudly, "No attack can break my fortress!"

"Hit, hit!" Little Devenshill crawled on the floor, the little fellow holding a Cavalry Lance doll, clamped under his armpit, grabbing it with his hand and giving a fierce thrust: "Knock it down! Hit!"

"Boom!" The "castle" that Little Frederick had painstakingly built collapsed just like that. The little boy’s face flushed red with anger; he looked like he was about to cry. With a wave of his small hand, a cup of milk on the table flew straight toward Little Devenshill’s face!

"Oh my god!" Sylvia turned pale with fright. The Head Maid had never expected Little Frederick to actually do this. The scalding hot milk was flying straight toward Little Devenshill, and the Head Maid was so scared she lunged forward to block it.

No one expected that when Little Devenshill saw the hot milk flying over, he seemed to realize this would be dangerous for him. A burst of Light of Spiritual Power suddenly flared in the little guy’s eyes. He stretched out his hand, and a Spiritual Shield appeared directly in front of Sylvia and the hot milk.

The hot milk splashed on the surface of the Spiritual Shield, milk spattering onto the carpet. The shield then shattered, and right after that Sylvia fell to the ground. Everything happened in an instant.

Only the Dark Elf Maid stood in the distance, secretly observing. One of her hands was exuding violet Dark Magic Mana, and in her palm a circular Array inscribed with many Dark Magic sigils had already formed. Seeing the infant burst out with Spiritual Power, Ollica regretfully lowered her hand. "Honestly, the master’s two children are both this naughty. For brats like this, we Duruzi will give them a very proper lesson."

"Are you alright, Miss Sylvia?" After saying that, the Dark Elf moved her long black-stockinged Long Legs under the Head Maid’s skirt to Sylvia’s side, reaching out to pull her up. "Did you get hurt?"

"No." Seeing Ollica come closer clearly triggered some terrifying memories in Sylvia. She shuddered and hurriedly added, "It’s just that the carpet got dirty."

"That’s nothing, just call someone in and have it replaced." Ollica smiled with meaningful amusement. Wearing a black-and-white Head Maid’s dress, the Dark Elf gestured for Sylvia to call someone in.

Sylvia knew she didn’t like taking the initiative to interact with lower humans. If it had something to do with Laine, that would be another story; otherwise, when it came to humans, Ollica had always disdained to waste even a single word.

The Head Maid quickly called a servant in to change the carpet.

The hotel attendant kept his head lowered. He was wearing a tight black uniform, a round cap on his head, and very clean white leather shoes on his feet. There was a faint scent of perfume on him. He walked in, rolled up the carpet, and before leaving the room, politely asked, "Are there any clothes that need to be laundered?"

"No." Sylvia shook her head, signaling that he could go.

The servant nodded, holding the carpet as he left the room.

Ollica’s amber eyes fixed on the servant’s back as he exited, saying nothing.

"No fighting! No fighting!" Sylvia lowered her head as she lectured Laine’s two children. "You can’t behave like this, or I’ll have to tell your father and mother!"

"Mm! Please don’t, Aunt Sylvia!" Little Frederick immediately admitted he was wrong. "If you do that, Father will hate me."

"No, Auntie, don’t!" Little Devenshill also hurriedly lowered his head. Compared to Laine, Devenshill was actually more afraid of his mother. Surya had always been extremely strict with her son. Even Laine’s words were useless here; even the Lake Fairy couldn’t override Surya’s resolve in this regard.

Sylvia was about to say something more when she heard Ollica’s voice. The Dark Elf took the initiative to speak, clapping her hands. "Outside, anyone there?"

"Yes, Lady Ollica!" Several Old Guard and Nuer Iron Armor Army soldiers immediately entered from the doorway. They stood at attention and saluted. "What are your orders?"

"The master should be back soon. Until then, do not allow any hotel attendants to enter this room!" Ollica ordered in Low Gothic Language. "If anything is sent up, you take it at the door, check it, and only then bring it inside!"

"Yes, ma’am!" The Nuer Iron Armor Army and Old Guard immediately nodded to show they understood.

"Ollica, what are you going to do?" Sylvia was still a bit confused, but she saw the Dark Elf turn around and step back into the room. The maid outfit on her body quickly transformed into a set of movement-friendly black leather and a purple robe. A mask covered her face and she pulled up a hood. Before Sylvia could respond, Ollica vanished at the doorway, dissolving into scattered illusions.

Thirty minutes later, in a noble mansion in the wealthy district of Imperial Capital Brunswick.

The dim interior had not a single lamp lit; everything was submerged in darkness.

A twisted voice spoke.

"Target confirmed, he is in the top-floor grand suite of the Royal Hotel."

"Very good, we can begin the operation."

"This operation’s codename is—Masquerade."

"Praise Shalis! Praise the Prince of Joy!"

"Praise Slaanesh!"
