Warhammer: The 11th Primarch - The Black Emperor
Chapter 1000 - 999: The Divine Artifact Granted by the Black Emperor Is Powerful but Dangerous
"Noyan-Khan, the Great Khan ordered us to wait in orbit," Shiban-khan reminded him.
"We are White Scars. We adapt to circumstances," Hasik said.
'My lord's oracle must be fulfilled.'
Bringing you the latest chapter.
"The Great Khan ordered me to establish a blockade line. I have already received the authority signal he sent."
"Even if we wanted to go to the surface, the aetheric barrier blocks drop pods and landing craft," Shiban said.
Hasik nodded. He looked at Stormseer Bergoi.
Although the Stormseers had been sent back to their homeworld of Chogoris following the Council of Nikaea, including Targutai Yesugei, whom the Great Khan trusted most, Hasik's khanate had continued to retain its Stormseers.
"I can illuminate a safe location within the city, but only a few can go."
"I will go with Torgun." Hasik looked at the khans under his command, who were puzzled by his decision, and explained, "He comes from another khanate and can serve as a witness to my journey."
"It is for the Great Khan himself that I disobey his orders."
Torgun and the other khans silently accepted their Noyan-Khan's reasoning.
"Prepare the teleportation."
After Hasik issued the order, he immediately opened the communicator and sent a message to Torgun.
A moment later, Hasik and Torgun, both wearing Cataphractii-pattern Terminator armor, stepped onto the teleportation platform together.
A crackling force field rose between the adamantium pillars, covering the entire hexagonal area.
Dazzling electric light blazed, tearing away their bodies.
The electric light faded. Hasik and Torgun looked around.
Broken walls and ruins spread beneath a dim sky. The wreckage of magnificent pyramids destroyed by fire stood around like giant corpses.
Thunder rumbled from afar. Lightning wandered in all directions.
Hasik bent down and scooped up a cup of dust. Tiny glass fragments slipped from his fingertips.
"It is hard to imagine that this was once Tizca, the City of Light."
Torgun inhaled deeply the air still carrying the scent of embers, his tone fervent.
"The City of Kings is the greatest City of Light."
Hasik scattered the glass dust in his hand to the ground and did not continue arguing with Torgun.
He knew that when Torgun was still named Haren Svensellen, he had already deeply worshiped the Black Emperor.
Even though he did not know the Black Emperor was the one true god, his fanatical devotion was no less than that of any true god's follower.
"A humming sound." Hasik thought of the trait of the ghostly Psychneueins mentioned in the data granted by the Black Emperor, no physical form.
"Turn off the auto-sensory system. Use your eyes."
There were no signs of life in the armor's display, nor any proximity signals.
With a thought from Hasik and Torgun, the targeting matrix and environmental compensation mechanism in their helmet displays were deactivated in the blink of an eye.
In their pure Astartes vision, stripped of the armor's effects, they saw dozens of eerie figures emerging from underground, like ghosts breaking through graves.
"The mask." Hasik reminded him. He raised his left arm, the bolter roaring as it fired.
The diamond-tipped bolt easily pierced into the swollen abdomen of a ghostly Psychneuein, then detonated the massive abdomen.
A casual strike would not have caused even a bit of damage to a ghostly Psychneuein with no physical form.
But every strike imbued with "Cull" that hit any part was equivalent to hitting the enemy's vital point and weakness, causing no small amount of damage.
If "Cull" hit a true weakness and caused true damage, it could in most cases produce an instant-kill effect.
Even if the enemy's defense was very strong, it would be difficult for them to withstand three such attacks in a row.
Clusters of green eyes turned, fixing on Hasik and Torgun.
The ghostly Psychneueins' swollen heads had mouthparts that clicked as in life, bursting with sinister radiance.
Their tattered, broad wings were as thin as cicada wings. They flashed rapidly, yet not a single speck of dust was stirred as they fluttered.
From the ends of their swollen abdomens popped a trembling, curved spike. They flickered with a faint light they had not possessed in life, reflecting psychic afterimages of days past, pressing forward like dark clouds.
The ghostly Psychneueins' bodies were hunched and twisted, but their size was still twice that of an Astartes in Terminator armor.
Hasik's eyes narrowed, gazing at the phosphorescent,恍惚 wrinkled bodies.
The "Reaper's" vision penetrated the surface layer, seeing the interior as clear and transparent as glass.
A eerie green light point flickered with ominous light.
'Indeed, as my lord said, the ghostly Psychneuein's weakness is the swollen chest, not the head as with most other creatures.'
"Reaper" Hasik swung his guandao with his right arm, cleaving into the Psychneuein's swollen chest.
Bang!
The bee exploded with a thunderous blast, scattering into shining mist.
The bursting fragments glittered with dazzling brilliance, accompanied by piercing shrieks, exploding into a vortex of energy streams.
The shockwave kicked up a sky full of dust. A crisp sound like shattering glass resounded across the entire plaza.
Whoosh!
A piercing cold wind howled. Torgun put the bronze mask on his face.
The ghostly Psychneueins all let out terrified cries. They all drifted backward, then drilled toward the ruined ground, trying to shrink back underground.
"Conspirer" Torgun held the icy cold mask with both hands. Spirituality poured through his fingertips into it.
A green mist suddenly surged up, transforming into an eerie gate.
Creak!
The illusory gate opened. Vine after vine scrambled out, competing to be first.
Hasik's intuition sensed danger. He instinctively stepped away.
From the corner of his eye, he vaguely saw massive bone spurs piled together.
Hasik suddenly felt his consciousness seemed to be entangled by vengeful spirits.
He extended his spirituality. A wall of fire blazed up, wrapping around his body.
At the same time, he ascended through the third layer of the Thelema mind state in turn, isolating the piercing shrieks.
Hasik looked out. Through the burning wall of fire, he saw green black vines growing madly, tightly entangling the Psychneueins' bodies.
The ghostly Psychneueins writhed madly. Their illusory, ethereal outlines rippled with waves.
The vines tightened, coiling around one ghostly Psychneuein after another like giant pythons. The waves suddenly subsided.
The vines dragged the ghostly Psychneueins toward the bronze gate, like giant pythons carrying prey back to their hibernation nest.
Creak!
Over a hundred ghostly Psychneueins vanished. The illusory gate slowly closed.
The cold wind drifted away. The wall of fire flickered.
'This is… simply a… divine artifact…' Torgun's thoughts slowed.
He gathered his mind. His stiff hands suddenly lifted the bronze mask from his face.
His face was covered in frost. His lips were purple.
Torgun sealed the bronze mask with a psychic wall while pulling his helmet back onto his face.
As the life support system operated, his body temperature gradually rose.
'The divine artifact bestowed by Lord Nareth is indeed powerful, but it exacts a tremendous toll... and it is even dangerous.' As Hasik pondered, he sensed something.
With a thought, he restarted the environmental compensation mechanism.
The moment the augur array came back online, he saw the runes flashing in his helmet display.
He warily raised his weapon. "Not the Keshig Guard, nor the Thousand Sons or Space Wolves."
The bolter roared, dense barrages striking directly at the two.
