Warhammer: The 11th Primarch - The Black Emperor

Chapter 993 - 992: The Water He Created with Psychic Power Actually Has the Defensive Power of a Storm Shield

  • Next Chapter

The Honor Guard of Szczesny, Lord of the Ninth Chapter, full-fledged "Folk of Rage" instantly donned the "Wrath" upon themselves, using rage as their hand.

Adrenaline surged through the "Folk of Rage's" bodies. Their frames, imbued with seemingly boiling power, allowed them to run, raise weapons, and fire at over thirty times their normal speed.

The EtaCarn pattern plasma guns forged at Firestorm shot out steady streams of molten fire, streaking toward the walls.

Dense beams converged, raising a sun above the towering walls of the Titan Forge.

Szczesny overlooked the scene below. The blazing light devoured the heavy stubber barrage, reducing the Skitarii to ashes.

Twin-linked lascannons were ignited by the searing beams, and pillars of explosive light shot skyward.

The "Ocean Songster" suddenly sensed something. His gaze sharpened, piercing through the billowing black smoke, and fixed upon the rectangular assembly building.

Dark green figures were rapidly advancing through the winding pipes toward the assembly building.

'Alpha Legionaries!'

With a thought from Szczesny, thousands of premium gilt-alloy metal plates drove his twin wings with a thunderous boom.

The "Ocean Songster" raised his battle axe forged from the storm adamantium of the Thalassa Broken Isles. A silver-white bolt of lightning split the black flames filling the air and struck an Alpha.

Bang!

The Mark IV power armor was charred black by the strike. The Alpha exploded into countless chunks of flesh trailing tiny electric serpents, leaping in all directions.

Crack-crack!

A chunk of flesh slammed into a pipe, leaping and tearing through one level of piping after another.

Inside the pipes, amid piercing alarms, Skitarii after Skitarii was suddenly struck down, slammed against metal walls.

Only when it hit the insulating layer of the fifth-level track did the flesh finally fall limply.

Another chunk of flesh, wrapped in electric light, slammed into an Alpha like a heavy hammer, knocking him down.

The Alphas looked to the sky. The augur array had not captured any enemy in the air.

Rumble!

There were no thunderclouds, yet thunder suddenly roared.

The Alphas immediately activated the filtering function of the Lyman's Ear to block out the roaring sound.

However, the roaring only slightly abated. It continued to rumble, striking directly at their brains.

Two Alphas stood frozen in place, repeatedly scanning their surroundings.

Blood overflowed from one Alpha's breathing grille. His brain burst amid the echoing explosions.

"Advance!" the Consul shouted loudly.

Over a hundred Alphas snapped out of their shock and surged toward the assembly workshop.

The Consul had barely run three steps when a spinning gale suddenly materialized around his Cataphractii-pattern Terminator armor.

The whirlwind spun faster and faster. The Cataphractii Terminator seemed bound by a cage of raging wind, his speed growing slower and slower.

Boom!

With a thunderous boom, the "Ocean Songster" slammed into the Alphas.

He roared and donned the "Mask of Furry."

The storm battle axe spun like a windmill, carving open Mark IV Maximus-pattern power armor.

Bang-bang-bang!

A series of bolts hammered against the frozen armor that once belonged to Russ. The Fenrisian runes blazed, and the diamond-tipped bolt heads were immediately coated in frost.

Da-da-da!

The bolts slid off powerlessly.

Bang!

With a massive boom, the Cataphractii Terminator broke through the "Wind Binding" and charged at Szczesny.

The Consul pressed the Runic symbol, and his power lance lit up with blue light.

He lunged at Szczesny, the power lance screaming as it thrust toward his back.

The "Ocean Songster" raised a hand, swept it over his shoulder, and flung it behind him.

Blue light suddenly surged, forming a curtain of "water" that seemed as though it could be broken with a single strike.

Bang!

Amid a piercing boom, the power lance stabbed into the "water curtain."

The Consul felt his arm grow heavy, the lance tip advancing slower and slower.

The thin water curtain rippled in layer upon layer of waves, stacking together.

The ripples looked no different from those in water, but stacked together, they were like a storm shield.

'The psychic shield of the Shadows of Order is quite bizarre?'

'Their singing is also very strange? Completely different from the psychic attacks of the Thousand Sons.'

As the Consul pondered, he drew an archaeotech pistol from his waist.

A blazing beam shot out, striking the water curtain.

The "water curtain" shook violently, then burst apart with a bang.

The shockwave, carrying water droplets, slapped against the dark green Cataphractii-pattern Terminator armor.

The Consul glanced at the tactical interface: [Identified similarity to pure water: 96.25%.]

[Threat level: No threat.]

'It really is water?'

The water he created with psychic power actually has the defensive power of a storm shield.'

The Consul gathered his thoughts, raised his power lance, and thrust at Szczesny.

The "Ocean Songster's" helmet suddenly became wreathed in electric light.

Above his head, the sky suddenly turned gray, as if dark clouds were gathering, obscuring the light of the lumen lamps and the glow of the furnaces.

Crack-crack!

Silver lightning surged forth, entwining around the battle axe.

A thick bolt of lightning fell, striking the battle axe.

The storm battle axe instantly turned silver-white.

The "Ocean Songster" spun around with lightning speed.

A flash of silver-white light, before the Consul could even see clearly, the battle axe had already struck the power lance.

Boom!

Amid a deafening explosion, silver-white light drowned out the blue light.

The dark green Cataphractii Terminator was charred black by the electricity. The Consul's entire body went numb.

Szczesny's muscles bulged violently, almost bursting the armor that Malevolus had forged specially for him.

He swung his arm fiercely, and the silver-white battle axe howled as it cleaved into the Consul's body.

Crack-crack!

Electric light pierced through the Consul's frame, making his body convulse with crackling shocks.

Bang!

The silver streak tore open the dark green Cataphractii Terminator. The Consul's charred corpse crashed heavily to the ground.

Szczesny pulled back his battle axe. Behind him, beams of light streaked forward, the Folk of Rage had caught up to his pace.

He left the remaining Alphas to the Honor Guard members and ran toward the assembly workshop.

Szczesny had just entered the assembly workshop when he smelled the peculiar stench of heated metal and petrochemical products.

Amid binary chanting and the roar of machinery, there were mingled sounds of Low Gothic.

He looked around. The open assembly space was enclosed by six massive alcoves, extending from the floor all the way to the ceiling.

Massive servo-arms were mounted on both sides of the alcoves, able to move along installed tracks to different heights. Cranes hung above the Titans' heads.

Red light suddenly rose from the assembly level, stirred by industrial-grade arc-lumen torches, casting down from above the workshop.

Hundreds of chains hung from the ceiling, clinking and clanking.

Each fifty-meter-long iron chain had dozens of hooks attached.

Each hook held a fresh corpse. From the heraldry, Szczesny identified Tannagran Dragoons riddled with bullets, Skitarii torn apart by bolts, Governor's Guard crushed by mechanical fists, and Tech-priests cut open by power claws, their semi-mechanical bodies exposed.

Blood dripped in lines onto the massive vehicle bodies below.

There were six vehicles in total.

Their chassis were too wide, forcing them to be arranged in a single column within the assembly workshop, stretching from one end of the assembly building to the other.

Their armored hulls were supported by dual sets of treads on both sides of two carriages. The front ends sloped like a two-story hill.

Void shields covered both sides of the hulls, along with quad lascannons and oversized bolt arrays for protection.

Szczesny gazed at the massive cannon at the centerline of the hull, the complex series of hoists surrounding the barrel.

With a thought from Szczesny, his body floated upward.

He flew above the train and immediately discovered that every two vehicles were actually a single base unit, like the wheels of a Baneblade super-heavy tank.

The cannon was propped up by the wheels. Constrained by the space of the assembly workshop, it could not rotate into a firing position.

Tech-priests crawled over the war machines like ants, working fanatically in the rain of blood, ritually inscribing symbol after symbol with blood.
