Chapter 772: Chapter 771: The Ruse of Self-Sacrifice (Part 6)
The two of them ate together.
Damian Sinclair brought a total of five dishes plus a soup in a box, along with a big box of white rice, and they actually finished it all.
Damian had been working overtime in meetings all afternoon and then flew over to Harrowden in the evening. He borrowed the hotel kitchen to cook and only just now finally got to eat, so he was really hungry.
Bella Acker had run around three locations today, and at the evening gathering, she drank more than she ate. Now that she’s eating the food Damian cooked, she’s finally full and even overstuffed.
Bella leaned back on the sofa, rubbing her belly, too full to move.
Damian got up and cleared the table, putting everything back into the plastic bag he brought.
Bella watched him busy himself and lazily asked, "President Sinclair, you didn’t specifically come to Harrowden just to have dinner with me, did you?"
She was momentarily startled by her own question as soon as she asked it.
Being too full made her mind sluggish and speak without thinking. Asking such a question made their relationship seem a bit too close.
After all, wasn’t it just before that Damian went through the trouble of buying groceries and cooking just to have lunch with her and even planned to bring it to the set?
Damian placed the plastic bag in the corner and turned to look at her. "Besides this, there’s another matter."
So there was work involved after all.
Bella felt a bit relieved but couldn’t help a slight pang of disappointment.
What’s wrong with her!
She muttered internally to herself, then nonchalantly asked, "What is it? Don’t tell me you’re opening a branch in Harrowden too?"
"Kingston doesn’t necessarily need to open a branch in Harrowden. It’s another matter," Damian said. "And it involves you."
"What could it possibly be that involves me?" Bella was puzzled.
Damian was just about to answer when there was a knock on the door.
Bella stood up, "It must be my delivery. Hold on a sec." With that, she jogged to the door.
"Hello, your delivery. Is this Ms. Acker?"
"Yes, thank you." Bella only opened the door a small crack and took the cake and flowers inside.
Holding the cake and flowers, she didn’t turn around immediately. Instead, she said, "President Sinclair, could I trouble you to close your eyes for a moment?"
Damian raised an eyebrow, guessing that she had ordered these birthday gifts last minute to make it up to him.
"Alright." Damian stood still, obediently closing his eyes.
Bella turned off the room lights, leaving only a small lamp on. She quickly placed the cake on the coffee table and lit the candles.
"President Sinclair, you can open your eyes now." Bella turned around, holding the bouquet of lilies out to Damian.
Damian had already smelled the fragrance of the lilies. When he opened his eyes, he wasn’t surprised, but he was quite pleased.
"You were in the bathroom for so long just to order these two things?" A smile appeared in Damian’s eyes, and in the dim lighting, his usually stern features appeared softer.
"It wouldn’t be right to do nothing for your birthday." Bella laughed. "Make a wish and blow out the candles."
Damian had never made a wish on his birthday before. Seeing Bella smiling at him, he chuckled, walked up to the birthday cake, and said, "I’ve been kicked out of the house, so I’ll wish to be able to return."
"Who says their wish out loud? Wait, you’ve been kicked out?" Bella was stunned.
