Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System

Chapter 418: Crushing The Crimson Flesh Tree

  • Next Chapter

Vikram landed upon the next branch and silently waited for its guardian to emerge.

The crimson cocoon split open, revealing the Blade Mimic, the same zombie that had been fighting Lyra.

Vikram wasn’t surprised. He immediately activated Shadow Thorn Prison, causing countless shadow-infused vines to erupt from the branch and bind the Blade Mimic before it could even move.

Watching the zombie struggle helplessly, Vikram couldn’t help but marvel at the Phantom Treekin’s ability. Shadow Thorn Prison alone had already neutralized several Third-Generation Commanders. He could hardly imagine how terrifying the Phantom Treekin’s complete power would be once every ability was unlocked.

Leaving the trapped Blade Mimic behind, Vikram turned his attention toward Lyra’s battlefield, intending to help her as he had already done for nearly all of his wives.

However, the moment his eyes landed on the battlefield, he paused.

The Blade Mimic there was already dead.

Although Lyra hadn’t delivered the finishing blow, Carol had arrived in time and used her illusions to eliminate it.

A faint smile appeared on Vikram’s face.

His wives had begun helping one another without waiting for his instructions. One battle after another was ending as they moved across the battlefield to reinforce their allies.

Seeing the situation, an idea suddenly flashed through Vikram’s mind.

Without wasting a second, he shouted across the battlefield,

"Aurelia! Leave the Space Phantom and fight the Mist Devourer instead!"

He then turned toward the Mist King.

"Grandfather! Leave the Mist Devourer to Aurelia and take on the Gravity Tyrant!"

Finally, he looked at the Sand King.

"Father-in-law! Leave the Gravity Tyrant to Grandfather and fight the Space Phantom!"

The instant Vikram’s order reached her ears, Aurelia abandoned the Space Phantom without a second glance. Her figure blurred into a streak of silver light, in the blink of an eye, she arrived before the Mist Devourer.

The grotesque zombie immediately noticed its new opponent. Its body dissolved into a vast sea of crimson mist that spread outward in every direction, surging toward her with hungry intent. Wherever the mist touched, flesh blackened and withered.

Unlike the Mist King, the Mist Devourer was not simply untouchable. Its mist did not merely hide, it consumed. Everything the crimson fog enveloped was slowly, relentlessly dissolved.

The sea of mist closed in from all sides, seeking to swallow her whole.

Instead of retreating, Aurelia raised the silver longsword in her hand. The blade caught the light for a brief moment, gleaming coldly.

"I’ve already seen through your trick."

The crimson mist suddenly condensed behind her, forming countless razor-sharp claws that lunged toward her back with deadly precision.

But before they could touch her, a silver crescent silently flashed across the battlefield.

A perfect straight silver line that stretched through the heart of the crimson mist.

Space itself had been severed.

Everything that occupied that thin slice of reality vanished instantly. The crimson mist split apart as if an invisible wall had been forced cleanly through its center. The two halves of the fog writhed in confusion, unable to reconnect.

The Mist Devourer let out a shrill, almost human scream.

Unlike ordinary attacks that merely dispersed its body, Space Slash ignored its mist form entirely. It did not cut flesh. It severed the very space the mist occupied.

Before the scattered remnants could gather again, Aurelia disappeared.

She reappeared directly above the zombie’s true body the moment it was forced out of its mist form.

Without giving it the slightest opportunity to escape, she swung her sword a second time.

A thin silver arc descended from the sky.

The Mist Devourer’s body froze. A perfectly straight line appeared from the top of its head down to its feet.

Then its body silently separated into two clean halves.

This time, there was no regeneration. The space between the severed pieces had been erased, leaving a void that could never be bridged. The crimson glow within its eyes faded like dying embers. Its corpse crashed heavily onto the blood-soaked earth.

Aurelia flicked the last traces of blood from her blade with a single elegant motion. She did not spare the fallen zombie another glance.

---

The Mist King arrived before the Gravity Tyrant.

The colossal zombie slowly turned its head, crimson eyes locking onto the approaching werewolf. A cruel grin spread across its face as the immense gravitational force surrounding its body intensified once more.

The ground within hundreds of meters collapsed under the overwhelming pressure. Massive boulders were crushed into powder. Countless lesser zombies and beasts were flattened before they even realized what had happened.

Yet the Mist King continued walking forward.

His body gradually dissolved into a drifting silver mist, allowing the crushing gravity to pass harmlessly through him.

The Gravity Tyrant frowned. It raised both arms. The invisible force instantly changed direction. Instead of pressing downward, gravity surged toward the Mist King from every direction, attempting to compress the endless mist into a single point.

The surrounding air trembled violently. Even the silver mist began gathering together against its will.

The Gravity Tyrant’s smile widened. If it could not crush the Mist King... then it would simply force all the mist back into one place and crush it there.

However, the Mist King merely smiled.

"An interesting idea. But... you’re manipulating gravity. Not me."

The next moment, the silver mist exploded outward.

Rather than resisting the gravitational force, the Mist King willingly allowed it to pull every strand of mist toward the center. Then the countless streams of mist suddenly rotated around the Gravity Tyrant like a massive silver vortex.

The stronger the zombie increased its gravity, the faster the vortex spun.

Within seconds, the Gravity Tyrant found itself trapped inside a gigantic cyclone of silver mist. Its expression finally changed.

The Mist King’s voice echoed from every direction.

"You’ve made one mistake. You assumed gravity only affects your enemies."

The silver vortex accelerated again. Visibility disappeared completely. The Gravity Tyrant could no longer distinguish where the Mist King was.

Suddenly, a sharp pain erupted across its back. Before it could react, another slash landed across its chest. Sword wounds began appearing one after another across its body.

The Mist King drifted through the spinning mist like a phantom, materializing for only an instant before dissolving back into the silver fog after every strike.

The Gravity Tyrant roared furiously, unleashing wave after wave of gravitational force. The battlefield shattered. The earth cracked open. Yet every attack passed harmlessly through the Mist King’s mist body.

Meanwhile, dozens of sword wounds rapidly accumulated across the Gravity Tyrant’s enormous frame. The zombie finally understood. Its gravity was devastating against solid opponents... but against an enemy that could become mist at will, it had no way to land a decisive blow.

By the time it realized that truth... It was already too late.

The countless slashes from earlier had never been intended to kill the Gravity Tyrant. Every strike had left behind an almost invisible cut, silently preparing for the final blow.

The silver vortex abruptly collapsed inward. The Mist King appeared directly before the Gravity Tyrant, his sword already descending.

Mist King’s Secret Art... One Thousand Mist Cuts.

Every hidden cut erupted simultaneously.

In a single heartbeat, countless silver slashes erupted across the Gravity Tyrant’s body. The enormous zombie froze in place. Thin crimson lines spread across its entire form.

The Gravity Tyrant burst into hundreds of pieces, scattering across the shattered battlefield as the silver mist slowly drifted away with the wind.

---

The Sand King charged toward the Space Phantom without slowing down.

The moment the Space Phantom noticed its new opponent, its body flickered and disappeared. It was not invisible. It had slipped into distorted space itself.

The next instant, dozens of spatial rifts silently appeared around the Sand King, each one releasing razor-thin blades capable of slicing through steel.

The spatial blades descended from every direction.

The Sand King calmly raised a hand. His body instantly crumbled into countless grains of golden sand. Every spatial blade passed harmlessly through him, carving deep scars across the battlefield but failing to injure him in the slightest.

A moment later, the golden sand gathered again, reforming behind the Space Phantom. The zombie sensed the danger and vanished once more, reappearing hundreds of meters away.

It refused to engage directly. Instead, it continuously blinked through space, launching wave after wave of spatial slashes while maintaining its distance.

The Sand King simply watched.

"So... you rely on space to avoid every attack." A faint smile appeared on his weathered face. "Let’s see where you run."

He slowly pressed both palms against the ground.

The earth within several kilometers erupted. An endless sea of golden sand surged across the battlefield like a tidal wave, swallowing forests, rocks, and craters alike. In only a few breaths, the entire area had transformed into a boundless desert under the Sand King’s control.

The Space Phantom immediately sensed something was wrong. It blinked through space again. The instant it reappeared... its feet sank into the soft sand.

Before it could react, countless sand tendrils shot upward, wrapping around its legs. The zombie instantly tore them apart with a spatial slash and teleported away once more.

But every place it emerged had become part of the Sand King’s desert. Every grain of sand obeyed his will.

The Space Phantom continued teleporting frantically, only to find itself attacked from every direction the moment it appeared. Its movements became increasingly restricted.

The Sand King’s eyes narrowed. "Your space belongs to my desert now."

He clenched his fist. The endless desert suddenly rose into the sky, forming a colossal golden sphere that sealed the Space Phantom inside.

Every time the Space Phantom emerged from distorted space, countless grains of sand were already waiting. The instant it materialized, the surrounding sand rushed in from every direction, giving it no opportunity to open another spatial passage.

Its greatest advantage, its freedom to move through space, had been completely neutralized.

The Space Phantom let out a furious roar, unleashing countless spatial blades in every direction. The golden sphere trembled violently. Large sections were sliced apart. Yet every opening was instantly filled by even more sand.

The Sand King slowly raised his hand. "Sand King’s Secret Art... Desert Burial."

His fingers closed. The colossal sphere collapsed inward. Millions upon millions of grains of sand compressed toward the center with overwhelming force.

The Space Phantom desperately tried to escape, but every spatial passage it opened collapsed beneath the endless pressure.

The golden sphere shrank to the size of a fist before exploding into a cloud of drifting sand.

When the sand finally settled, the Space Phantom had vanished completely.

The Sand King brushed the dust from his hands and looked toward the Crimson Flesh Tree.

---

After seeing the Sand King, the Mist King, and Aurelia swiftly eliminate the newly born Zombie Commanders, Vikram nodded in approval..

His gaze then shifted to the Blade Mimic trapped within the Shadow Thorn Prison. By now, the zombie had already been completely drained by the shadow vines, leaving nothing behind but drifting ash.

With a single swing of his twin wooden swords, Vikram severed the branch before leaping toward the next one.

The remaining branches offered no real resistance.

One after another, Vikram repeated the same process. The moment a Zombie Commander emerged, Shadow Thorn Prison imprisoned it. Unable to escape the relentless shadow vines, the commander was gradually consumed into ash before Vikram cleanly severed the branch beneath it.

Barely ten minutes later, the last branch crashed to the ground.

The once-massive Crimson Flesh Tree had been reduced to nothing more than its enormous trunk.

Yet the scene made Vikram frown.

Throughout the entire process, the Evolution King had made no attempt to stop him. It had neither protected the Crimson Flesh Tree nor interfered with his assault, as though the destruction of the tree meant nothing to it.

A trace of suspicion surfaced in Vikram’s eyes.

’Doesn’t it care about the Crimson Flesh Tree?’

Although the thought lingered in his mind, Vikram didn’t hesitate. Whatever the Evolution King was planning, destroying the Crimson Flesh Tree remained his highest priority.

He tightened his grip on his twin swords and leaped toward the colossal trunk.

Just as he was about to strike, every severed branch scattered across the battlefield suddenly trembled.

Vikram’s pupils contracted.

The countless broken branches slowly rose into the air, as though drawn by an invisible force. Under his watchful gaze, they flew back toward the trunk one after another, reconnecting seamlessly with the Crimson Flesh Tree as if they had never been cut apart.
