"You are such a broken character... sigh."
"Why has my level increased once again?"
Clara turned toward him from the passenger seat, her eyes gleaming with happiness as she watched his face. Liam, however, was staring at the translucent status panel floating in front of his vision while the Bentayga continued smoothly down the road.
One hand rested loosely on the steering wheel, making small corrections almost without thought, while the God Tier Driving Skill handled the road so naturally that most of his attention could remain on Clara’s ridiculous numbers.
To anyone watching from outside, he simply looked like a relaxed eighteen-year-old driving an expensive SUV. In reality, half his mind was controlling the car while the other half was trying to understand how his girlfriend had somehow reached Level 14 from Level 10.
"Yes. You’re currently Level 14. You came to this town at Level 3, so... you can guess."
Liam shrugged one shoulder casually. Clara looked extremely pleased with herself after hearing that, lifting her chin slightly and giving him a proud little look as if she had personally achieved something incredible.
"What level are you?"
Clara asked while glancing out through the window at Nassau Street. Morning sunlight stretched across the old storefronts and sidewalks, and students were already moving through Princeton in small groups. She fully expected Liam to be far above her. After all, he was the one who had introduced the whole idea of levels to her in the first place.
"I’m Level 3."
"What?! What?"
"I said I’m Level 3."
Clara stared at him for a second before suddenly breaking into laughter. She bent forward slightly and clutched her stomach, laughing so hard that she had to look away from him for a moment, clearly enjoying the fact that she had somehow surpassed the person who had explained leveling to her in the first place.
"What is my condition to level up?"
Clara asked with tears still gathered at the corners of her eyes from laughing. Liam rolled his eyes at her. She was getting away with it only because she was a pretty girl; otherwise, he would have already bonked her on the head.
"You level up when you’re with me. I guess the more intimate you are with me, the faster you level up."
Liam said while keeping Clara’s status panel open in front of him. The Bentayga continued along Nassau Street when a small puppy suddenly darted onto the sidewalk ahead, its leash trailing behind it.
A woman came running after it a second later, calling out while trying to catch up. The puppy stopped near a bench just long enough for her to grab the leash, earning a few amused looks from the people nearby before traffic continued moving normally around them.
His attention, however, remained on the eleven Divine Points sitting at the bottom of Clara’s status. Liam had been wondering how he should spend them, but after thinking about it for a moment, he decided there was no reason to choose everything for her. They were her points, after all.
"So, you have eleven points you can add. Basically, you can use them to improve things like your Strength, Agility, Charisma, or Speech. One point raises whichever stat you choose, so you just have to decide what you want to focus on."
"How about Charisma? I’ll be cuter, right?"
Clara immediately went down the most predictable girl route possible. Liam wasn’t surprised in the slightest and simply nodded, while Clara looked genuinely impressed by the idea, her eyes brightening with obvious eagerness as if she had already decided where every point should go.
"Yes, but it works a little differently than normal leveling. Right now, because you’re Level 14, each of your main stats can go up to 1,400. Your Charisma is only at 460, so there’s still a lot of room left. And each Divine Point gives you a huge increase—one point adds 100 points to the stat you choose. So with eleven points, you could add as much as 1,100 points in total, but obviously, you can’t push a stat past its current level cap."
"Only 460?"
Clara leaned back in the seat, clearly not liking the way Liam had used the word only before mentioning her Charisma. She looked mildly offended by it, as if 460 somehow made her sound average.
In her own mind, she already felt attractive enough that she could probably walk into a modeling agency and get noticed immediately. With her face, figure, and the amount of attention she naturally received, becoming a top model didn’t sound unrealistic to her at all.
"Only? Sigh... I didn’t mean it like that. Think about it this way. Normal people have a level cap of 10. Once they reach that point, they can’t keep leveling unless they upgrade their species first. So most of the famous actresses, models, or celebrities you see are probably somewhere at Level 10 or below, at least if my guess is right. Their stats are limited by that. You’ve already gone beyond Level 10, which means your limits are much higher than theirs. So 460 isn’t low. It only looks low because your maximum right now is 1,400. Compared to a normal person, your Charisma is already ridiculous."
Liam said it in a way that made Clara’s expression slowly change from doubtful to satisfied. The explanation sounded much better to her now. If normal people were stuck around Level 10 while she had already reached Level 14, then suddenly 460 didn’t feel small anymore.
"Speaking of species..."
Liam said this and pressed the [Click here to upgrade to Sub-Immortal] prompt on Clara’s status panel. The moment he did, a soft white, game-like flash passed over her entire body from head to toe, almost like a layer of light had briefly covered her before disappearing. Clara didn’t react at all. She simply remained seated beside him, completely unaware that anything had happened.
Is she a Sub-Immortal now? Show me her status.

"Okay... sigh! Tell me when you decide about your points."
Liam wanted to explain what he had just done to her, but it already felt like too much information for one morning, and his classes were starting in around ten minutes. His eyes paused for a moment on her skills instead.
Both Finder and Sniffer had jumped from Master Tier to Top Tier after the species upgrade, which made him raise an eyebrow. Apparently, changing species didn’t only affect the obvious parts of her status. Even her existing abilities had improved along with her. He dismissed the thought for now and pulled the Bentayga into the parking area near Princeton Stadium.
Clara moved into the driver’s seat as Liam opened his door and stepped out. He planted one foot on the pavement, straightened himself beneath the open door, then reached back inside for his things before closing it behind him. The cool morning air hit him immediately, carrying the distant noise of students heading toward class as he adjusted his bag and looked back toward the car.
Before leaving, Liam leaned back toward the open window and kissed Clara goodbye. It was brief this time, just enough to make her smile before he stepped away from the Bentayga and adjusted the strap of his bag over his shoulder.
From there, he started walking toward his class. Since he had spent the previous night at the Peacock Inn instead of returning to campus, he decided to pass by his dorm first. He still had a few minutes before class, and he wanted to make sure everything in his room was fine before heading over.
As Liam was passing McCosh Hall, its old stone walls and tall Gothic windows standing quietly beside the walkway, he suddenly heard a very familiar voice. His ear twitched almost instantly. It was Megan.
Her angry voice was coming from just behind the building, sharp enough to stand out even through the normal morning noise of students heading toward class.
Liam followed the voice around the side of the building. Megan came into view first, still dressed in the clothes she used for dance practice, looking like she had been interrupted in the middle of training. Then he noticed the people standing around her. Five boys were there in total, most of them tall, and as Liam’s eyes moved from one face to another, a few of them started looking familiar.
"How many times have I told you not to call me when I’m practicing? Go tell your dog of a boss that I’m fine, and Liam is just a friend. Maybe then he can stop barking into Rudolf’s ear every five minutes."
Standing among them was Jim, the Danuvan member Liam had faced in the parking lot yesterday. He was staring at Megan with obvious anger, his jaw tight and expression dark, but for some reason, he wasn’t saying anything back.
