Chapter 483 267: Exposed! Battle Breaks Out

  • Next Chapter

Most of the auction house's Law Enforcers had gone to reinforce Traitor's Cliff and the Dracul Mountain Range. Freya had followed Elder Pence to the front lines of the Dracul Mountain Range to fight the Dragon Tide, while Isabella was at Traitor's Cliff... Baron's only two patrons at the auction house were now gone.

Baron had originally planned to slip away in the chaos, but the Law Enforcers were watching him too closely. He wasn't the Silver Tier KK; acting rashly would most likely be a suicide mission.

The burly Attendant said, "If you want us to spare you, it's simple. Kneel and apologize to Mr. Hamilton."

He sneered, "And admit that you're not as strong as me."

'Hamilton's crazy, and this Attendant is, too.'

Baron was starting to wonder if Elder Pence was behind this, or if he was just unlucky enough to run into the kind of one-dimensional, moronic villain you only find in trashy novels.

He ignored them and turned to leave, his mind already working through the Dragon Eater Association's methods. The core of their plan, it was obvious, was to frame Mad Dragon.

If Baron wanted to escape this predicament, his best bet was to expose the imposter at the ruins of the Dragon Family estate and convince everyone that the Hestia Family was the true mastermind.

As for Mad Dragon at Traitor's Cliff, Baron admitted to himself that he didn't understand the composition of an Alchemy Matrix. He wasn't sure why the Witch had been so agitated back then, but his own heart was calm. 'It's probably nothing,' he thought.

'Hmm... and then there's that treacherous old bastard, Elder Pence.' As much as Baron wanted to kill him, he knew he couldn't get close without exposing the man's true colors...

As for Freya's chances... 'He's obviously not some brainless villain from a third-rate novel. Knowing his operation against Fla at the Monastery failed today, he's not going to just pretend nothing happened... Now that he's turned on us, he'll see it through to the bitter end.'

Baron considered many things, but decided the most pressing matter was to find a way to get out. The hall was crawling with patrolling guards; he definitely couldn't force his way through.

If he remembered correctly, the VIP room had a window. There might be Dragon Devourer Cultists lying in ambush outside, but it was precisely because they were all Dragon Devourer Cultists that he could act more freely.

When the lead Attendant saw Baron ignore him, he flew into a rage. A vicious look flashed across his face, and the Command Spell on the back of his hand began to glow.

The first Command Spell released a "Forbidden Magic Silver Mercury Mist," a vapor that could interfere with the flow of Spiritual Power in a Law Enforcer's body, temporarily reducing their combat strength.

But Baron dodged it. With a quick sidestep, he snatched a glass of red wine from a passing servant's tray and threw it at the Silver Mercury Mist. The silver vapor instantly began to roil violently, letting out a SIZZLE like burning wood.

This wasn't some chemical experiment. Baron had simply thrown the red wine through the Silver Mercury Mist and splashed it all over the face of Hamilton's Attendant.

Baron hoped this would buy him a few seconds. Without Freya to protect him, he really didn't want to reveal his hand.

But the burly lead Attendant quickly snapped out of his wine-splashed stupor, his shock instantly converting to fury.

Amidst the whispers of the surrounding guests, he drew his Alchemy Long Saber. "Take one more step, and I'll kill you!"

He had just finished speaking when he saw the seemingly unremarkable attendant glance at him. A sudden kick sent him flying from the center of the hall, through a large window, and out of sight.

The surrounding attendants and guests were dumbfounded. Mr. Hamilton was, too. He had been in the middle of tasting his wine and was so startled that most of it spilled onto the floor.

Hearing the commotion, the guards arrived, led by a Red-armored Knight. His gaze paused briefly on Baron and the surrounding attendants, then he asked what happened.

Baron recounted the events truthfully, making sure to emphasize that he was the victim and that they had started the confrontation, not him.

The Red-armored Knight asked suddenly, "You're Miss Freya's attendant?"

'So I can still ride Freya's coattails even after she's gone.' Baron nodded.

But to his surprise, the Red-armored Knight simply waved his hand and commanded, "Seize him!"

'Well, you son of a...' Looking at the guards surrounding him, Baron instantly understood why things had taken such a sudden turn.

Clearly, this Red-armored Knight was one of Elder Pence's men.

Judging by the Spiritual Pressure he sensed, the Red-armored Knight was still only at the Black Iron tier, but his Spiritual Power was immense. Baron figured that unless he revealed his Dragon Flame ability, he would have a hard time facing the knight and his surrounding guards all at once.

Not wanting to reveal his identity, Baron said in a low voice, "What crime have I committed?"

He glanced at the onlookers. "You can ask them. These men started it."

The Red-armored Knight sneered. "What crime? How about murder in broad daylight? Is that a crime?"

"Murder?" Baron frowned. He watched as the Red-armored Knight waved his hand, and a team of guards vaulted out the broken window. Amidst the gasps of the ladies in the crowd, they returned carrying the burly Attendant.

The burly Attendant was covered in blood, struggling violently, like a fish thrashing in a pan of hot oil.

By the time they laid him down in front of Baron, he had stopped moving. His face was twisted in a ferocious expression, like an evil ghost, and Baron even thought he saw a strange light flash in the man's eyes.

According to his Spiritual Perception, the man was indeed dead, but...

Baron's gaze fell upon the enormous wound on the burly Attendant's chest—one that was clearly carved out by a sharp weapon. He said:

"I'm not carrying a blade. There's no way I could have caused a wound like that with my bare hands."
