Chapter 1005: Fighting Our Way Out

We cleared out the top floor and armed ourselves with better weapons that we either looted off the corpses of the enemies we killed or that we found littered around the place.

I ended up picking that machinegun from the guy earlier as well as the rifle I had found as my secondary and the energy sword as my melee weapon.

Patricia armed herself with a marksman rifle and a shotgun as well, her melee weapon being an energy dagger.

We made our way through the corridors of the building and cleared the rooms one by one, eliminating any players we found that had also chosen to land here.

I kicked open a door that one of the players we were chasing had closed behind him, bursting in with my machinegun that I started spraying into the room even before I could see where he was to prefire my entrance.

The room was filled with a hail of my bullets shredding through the air as I noticed movement coming from the side.

I immediately swivelled my body to point the machinegun in that direction, my finger still holding down the trigger and shredding that space with bullets.

The player I was chasing had no chance as he was immediately peppered with a hail of machinegun fire and his avatar turned into particles of light before he could even get to me, the notification announcing a new kill appearing in my peripheral vision.

With that room cleared, I stepped out of the room to see Patricia crouching down on the ground with her marksman rifle held pointing down the corridor.

She fired a quick burst of three shots and I saw the notification pop up in the corner of my vision, indicating Patricia had scoped a kill.

I joined up with her and gave her a nod, which to the viewers probably looked like two stone hearted killers just acknowledging each other before moving on.

But in reality...

"Wheeee!! Did you see that, Tera?! I got him!! Ehehehe~"

"Yeah, that was a pretty good shot. I almost jumped when that guy came from the side. I thought I was going to have a heart attack."

"Oh I get that sometimes! That’s why I don’t usually play horror games! Ahhh! We should do a horror game collab stream next! I think that would definitely be fun! Please, please, please?"

"I guess we’ll see after this..."

"Ah! I hear more people up ahead! Let’s go get more kills!!"

She moved up ahead and I followed behind her, swinging my machinegun in front of me to help maintain my forward momentum.

We dashed through the corridor that was riddled with bulletholes, moving closer towards what sounded like another group of players currently engaged in a firefight with one another.

Something exploded and the sound of gunshots were drowned out for a moment before it returned with a vengeance with more guns joining the fray.

We rounded the corner and found the main lobby of the building where the second and third floors of the building had collapsed to form a ramp down to the ground floor.

There were players that were fighting their way into the building, clearly trying to slaughter the people that had landed here after they had armed themselves with weapons from the outside.

On the other hand, the people who were inside the building were also trying to fight their way out after they looted the building.

That turned the lobby into a massive battleground as various different player parties were running around while shooting at each other and throwing explosives from time to time.

Patricia giggled, "This is one of the reasons why I like landing here. This place always turns into a big fight when it’s a hot drop~"

I double checked that my machinegun was fully loaded before turning to give Patricia’s avatar a nod, "Ready? I am."

She nodded at me with her avatar as well, "Let’s go! I wanna kick some ass!!"

Once again, I’ll just point out that to the viewers, both of our avatars just silently nodded at each other before we started running towards the firefight

Unlike a real life shootout where people would most likely be hiding behind cover and shooting from a safe spot while maybe moving from cover to cover.

But seeing that this was a game... I’m looking at people running along the sides, dashing out from cover and even doing running slides and jumping around the lobby while shooting at their opponents.

There were even a few who were quite literally shaking their bodies side to side like how someone would spam the left and right keys to make their avatars wiggle left and right to throw off the enemies’ aim.

In real life though... It really does look quite ridiculous. But I can’t deny the fact that it was actually working as some people were missing their shots when their opponent did that little dance in front of them while they fired back at them.

Since we came in from the back, we managed to catch a group of them by surprise as they were so absorbed by the fight in front of them that they didn’t even notice us running down the broken ceiling turned ramp to get to them.

There were three of them so I aimed for the one on the right while Patricia went for the one on the left, both of us immediately gunning down our target before they could even fight back.

The last guy in the middle was left to me to finish off as Patricia vaulted over the broken piece of ceiling that they were hiding behind to attack another group from behind.

I will give the last guy credit for being able to react and firing his gun at Patricia as she vaulted over the low wall but he missed all his shots and did not even realise I was beside him until my machinegun shattered his shield and eviscerated him at close to point blank range.

I did not vault over the low wall like her but walked around it, wielding the machinegun at the hip as I fired it while moving with it, spraying dozens of bullets down range as I sent the players rushing for cover.

A few brave ones thought they could take me on and tried to shoot back at me, only for me to zero in on them and splatter them with the force of superior firepower as I outgunned them into oblivion.

Those who had chosen to hide were not safe either, as Patricia rushed between cover to cover, shooting them one by one with her shotgun to break their shields and a point blank shot with her marksman rifle to down or kill them with a single shot.

She was switching weapons so quickly and effortlessly that her hands were a blur when she did so, making it look like the guns were just appearing in her hands like magic.

On the other hand, I was just holding my machinegun and suppressing the group of players that were still trying to take cover from me.

With my covering fire, Patricia was able to just eliminate an entire group of players in a short span of time without any resistance.

I’m pretty sure that with the both of us combined, we have already achieved double digits in eliminations at this point.

My gun ran empty and I had to stop to reload, taking cover behind a broken pillar to break the top off and eject the ammo box in preparation to lock in a new one.

But just as I was pulling out a fresh ammo box in preparation to reload my gun, someone started shooting at me from the side after having been hiding behind a broken piece of debris.

I dropped my machinegun to dive behind the pillar, hiding from him as I switched to my rifle.

"Patricia?!" I called out through the comms.

"Comingggggg~" She called out cheerfully, sliding behind several broken debris to cover her advance before suddenly popping out behind my attacker with her combat dagger equipped.

She jumped on his back and started stabbing him in the neck, emptying his health bar quickly and turning him into particles of light.

Seeing that she had everything handled, I went back to reloading my machinegun without a worry as she covered me.

Just as I pulled on the charging lever to cock the gun, I heard another explosion go off near the entrance of the building and peeked out to take a look.

There, standing at the entrance of the building and blocking the way out, was a guy that was wearing a suit of Power Armour with dual miniguns strapped to his arm and a mortar launcher strapped to his shoulder.

Wait, seriously? You can get power armour in this game too?! Isn’t that a little unfair?! How the heck are we supposed to deal with that?!
