What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 926: Exo-Knight Names And VR

Chapter 926: Exo-Knight Names And VR

First thing I found out... While Vier could also mix beer and copy my teppan tricks... Her beers tasted pretty normal as compared to mine... And while her teppan tricks looked impressive, it somehow felt a little robotic.

So... Apparently, she can’t exactly replicate those at least... But at least the food she cooks on the teppan grill also tasted delicious so there’s no complaints there..

As we were basking in the afterglow of enjoying the food, I decided to speak up about a problem we now have.

"We need to give them names, don’t we? To register the Exo-Knights as ours..." I pointed out.

Amber groaned, "Ugh... I’m bad with names though... What do I even call mine?"

Vier turned to me, "White Dragon."

I blinked at her before considering it for a moment, "I err... Think the wings don’t really match, don’t you think? They look more feathery than leathery and... I think calling it a White Dragon is kind of making it inferior by your standards, right?"

Like... I believe white Dragonlings are supposed to be at the bottom of Dragonling society, right? Calling my Exo-Knight a white dragon would probably make it sound like it’s some inferior machine or something...

Vier slipped her hand over mine possessively, "Not when it’s you, Tera... You would be perfect... The most perfect white dragon to exist..."

I felt a tingle go down my spine and I have a feeling she’s actually imagining me as a White Dragonling and how she would push me down.

Renata giggled, "Oh, I know, Daddy! You should call it... Big Daddy!! Because it’s a bigger version of you!"

Renata... You’re really cute. Come here so I can pat your head.

The eldritch maid purred as I patted her head before thinking about it for a moment.

"I was thinking... Just giving it a simple name instead of a descriptive one... Something like... Authority."

Amber chuckled, "Mmm... Like the moment you appear on the field with it, you exert your Authority over everyone there. Just like how you hold authority over us~ I like it~ That sounds so sexy."

Why does it sound sexual when Amber is the one saying it...

Well, whatever... Seeing the other girls nod along, I guess my Exo-Knight shall be called Authority from now on.

Amber tapped the side of her cheek, "Hmm... Like I said, I’m not good with names... But I did notice that after I fly along and destroy my targets, there might be afterimages of me left behind in the dust of the wreckage... So why not just Gold Dust?"

Mmm... I think that’s fitting for Amber. She does leave trails of golden afterimages when she dashes through with her Exo-Knight.

When I turned to Lea, it’s as if she had been waiting for her turn from the start because she immediately spoke up like she had the name figured out from the very start, "Lancer."

Ah... Because her sniper will pierce through all her targets like a lance. I see. Although maybe calling it sniper might be more fitting but I guess that’s a little too straight forward.

I shifted to Ries and she seemed to still be undecided as she was pinching her chin in deep thought and her tail was waving side to side behind her.

"Mmm... I don’t know what to call mine, Boss..." She whined.

"Maybe name it after something you like?" I suggested.

I honestly didn’t know where I was going with that but Ries gasped, "Right!! Of course!! I like big guns and the Exo-Knight has big guns!! So I’ll name it Big Guns!! Yes!! Thank you, Boss!!"

Err... I mean... If she’s happy with it?

I turned to Mara, finding her also to be deep in thought and thinking about what to name her machine.

It only took her a few more seconds before she spoke up, "Medica."

Ah, I believe that means healer in Latin or something. That definitely suits her and her machine.

Last but not least, I turned to Yumiko who immediately started wagging her tail when I looked at her.

"Black Death."

Oh, edgy. But her Exo-Knight really does give off that vibe so it’s suitable.

"Right, I guess we can just register those Exo-Knights under us with those names. Now we’re officially a Merc group with Exo-Knights~"

There were some hustles that had the requirement of needing the Merc group to have Exo-Knights which we couldn’t take before, though I wasn’t really sure why there was such a requirement to begin with.

Now that we have Exo-Knights of our own, we could take those hustles too.

Vier helped me deal with the bureaucratic process of registering our Exo-Knights so I didn’t need to worry about that.

We continued our course to our next destination which was rendezvousing with Dylan, our contact in the Terran Navy who would give us jobs that would help us secure our Bio-Weapons license.

While we were cruising, Ries installed the VR Capsule in the recreation room and I realised she didn’t just get a single pod, she got seven... One for each of us not counting Renata and Freyja.

Speaking of Freyja, she’s been a really good girl and I didn’t forget to give her daily scratches and headpats.

I was in the recreation room and watching Ries set up the capsules, her drones helping her out as she plugged them in and powered them on.

I helped her as best as I could, using my telekinesis to move them as she needed while I floated behind her.

The machines were different from my universe’s version of VR Capsules but there were still some similarities so I quickly learned how to use them after she showed it to me once.

The process went smoothly after that and I watched Ries wipe her sweat from her brow with her sleeve, "Alright!! All done, Boss!! Should we try it out right now? We should get your account started up and then we can start streaming!!"

"Right now?"

"Why not? We have nothing else to do anyway!"

True that.

I climbed into one of the VR Capsules, claiming it as mine while Ries climbed into another one to join me.

Booting the machine up, I prepared myself for the feeling of being transported into the virtual world just like how I would be used to when back in my universe.

The machine started up and the lights began to flash and...

Nothing.

Eh?

A screen then popped up showing the words ’Connection Error. No User Found. Initiating Shutdown’.

Eh?

The machine then shuts down with a low hum, the pod opening up itself to let me out.

I frowned at it and tried again, watching as the machine went through the startup sequence once more only to show the same error message and shutting itself down again.

I wondered if there was something wrong with the setup and climbed out of the machine, right as Ries’s VR Capsule also let out a hiss and the door sliding open to allow her to step out.

I thought she also had the same problem until she gave me a confused look, "What’s wrong, Boss? I was waiting for you to log into the system?"

"It said ’No User Found’ when I was trying to start mine up... Then it just automatically shut down..."

"Ehh? Mmm... Did I set it up incorrectly? Let me check..."

She climbed into my VR Capsule and I watched the machine shut its doors and hum into life.

I stood outside for a moment and a minute passed before the cover slid open and Ries climbed back out.

"It’s working though... Maybe... Try again?"

I did as she asked and for the third time, the error window appeared and the machine initiated another shut down.

The cover slid open again and I just looked at Ries standing outside, shaking my head slowly.

"What? Why? I don’t understand... Why isn’t it working?"

That was when Renata formed a blob on my chest before it reformed into a mini version of herself.

"It’s because Daddy’ Psionic shields are too strong for the machine to penetrate! Daddy is instinctively protecting himself from the intrusion~"

I blinked at her, only to remember that the machine those Archives used to insert information into people’s brains also did the same thing... And I was unaffected by it as well.

Ries frowned, "Then what do we need to do? Do I need to make a better... Oh! Your Exo-Knight! I can copy the control systems and fix it to the machine! That should work!! Give me some time to study that control system, Boss!! I’ll rework this one in no time and we can get started on our streaming again!"

I watched as my cat girl lover dashed out of the room, no doubt heading towards the Exo-Knight hangar to start figuring out how she could copy Authority’s control system to fix it into the VR Capsule.

Well... I guess there’s no VR gaming for me for now...
