In less than an hour, Ji Xiaosong and Wu Chufeng had uprooted every flower and plant in the entire General Mansion.

Ji Xiaosong dusted the dirt from her hands, gazed contentedly at the now-empty grounds, and said to Wu Chufeng with a wide grin,

“There, much better. Now we can plant some crops!”

Wu Chufeng nodded, his tone tinged with amusement.

“You certainly work fast. If Aunt Wang saw that all her precious flowers and plants have been pulled out, she’d probably faint from anger.”

Only then did Ji Xiaosong remember the immobilized Wang Cuihua. She smacked her forehead and muttered to herself,

‘Oops, I almost forgot about her!’

She quietly slipped back to Wang Cuihua’s courtyard and found her still frozen in place, unable to move, her eyes filled with terror and fury.

Tiptoeing behind her, Ji Xiaosong released the immobilization technique.

Wang Cuihua felt her body suddenly go slack, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.

She whirled around and saw Ji Xiaosong standing before her with a wide grin. Terrified, she stumbled back several steps, her face as pale as a sheet and her voice trembling.

“You… what did you do to me? Why… why couldn’t I move?”

Ji Xiaosong blinked, feigning innocence.

“Aunt Wang, what are you talking about? I didn’t do anything just now. Maybe you were just standing for too long and your legs fell asleep?”

Hearing this, Wang Cuihua trembled with rage and pointed an accusing finger at Ji Xiaosong.

“You… stop putting on an act! I clearly couldn’t move just now. It must have been your doing!”

Ji Xiaosong’s grin remained, and her tone was teasing.

“Now, Aunt Wang, that’s not a nice thing to say. I’m just a young girl; how could I have such power? If you’re not feeling well, why don’t you go rest for a bit?”

Wang Cuihua was left speechless by Ji Xiaosong’s words, unable to think of a retort.

She gritted her teeth and said venomously, “Fine! Fine! You just wait! When my sons get back, I’ll make you pay!”

Unflustered, Ji Xiaosong replied with a smile,

“Don’t you worry, Aunt Wang. When your two boys return, I’ll be sure to give them a warm welcome. After all, we’re family!”

Although she looked perfectly gentle as she spoke, Wang Cuihua could hear the chilling undertone in her words.

She was so furious she nearly fainted, but she couldn’t utter a single word, only glare hatefully at Ji Xiaosong.

Just then, Wu Chufeng walked over, his voice laced with coldness.

“Aunt Wang, what’s the matter? You look terribly pale. Are you feeling unwell?”

Seeing Wu Chufeng, Wang Cuihua grew even more flustered.

‘Ji Xiaosong isn’t normal. But even if I told him, Wu Chufeng would never believe me.’

‘For all I know, Wu Chufeng has known all along that she isn’t normal.’

‘Why else would the legitimate son of the General Mansion seek out a village girl for a wife?’

She forced herself to remain calm and squeezed out a smile. “It’s… it’s nothing. I’m just a bit tired and wanted to go rest for a while.”

Wu Chufeng nodded, his tone carrying a hint of warning.

“Then get some rest. However, I advise you not to try any more of your little tricks. The Wu Family is in a precarious situation right now. If you cause any more trouble, don’t blame me for being severe.”

Wang Cuihua flinched at Wu Chufeng’s words and quickly lowered her head.

“Yes, yes, I understand.”

Wu Chufeng shot her a cold glance, then turned to Ji Xiaosong. “Song Song, let’s go. We still have things to do.”

Ji Xiaosong nodded with a smile and followed Wu Chufeng out of the courtyard.

Wang Cuihua watched their retreating backs, her eyes filled with venom, yet she was unable to say a word.

As they walked side-by-side out of Wang Cuihua’s courtyard, Wu Chufeng glanced at Ji Xiaosong, his voice full of curiosity.

“Song Song, what did you do to Aunt Wang just now? She looked like she’d seen a ghost.”

Ji Xiaosong blinked, feigning innocence again.

“I didn’t do anything. I just gave her a little scare. Who told her to try and run off with gold, silver, and other valuables? I was just reminding her that the Wu Family is no place for her to run wild.”

Wu Chufeng raised an eyebrow, a teasing note in his voice.

“Oh? Just a little scare? From the way her face turned pale, it didn’t look like a simple scare to me.”

“Of course not! I’m very skilled! Besides, she has a guilty conscience, so naturally she’s easy to frighten.”

Wu Chufeng chuckled, his tone fond and indulgent.

“You, you’re such a little rascal. Still, it’s thanks to you this time. Otherwise, Aunt Wang might have actually gotten away with everything.”

Ji Xiaosong lifted her chin proudly and said,

“But of course! Still, we have to be careful. Aunt Wang is no pushover. She definitely won’t let this go.”

Wu Chufeng nodded, a glint of coldness flashing in his eyes.

“Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, she can’t stir up any trouble.”

The two chatted as they walked, soon arriving at the front courtyard.

Wu Chufeng looked at the sky and said to Ji Xiaosong, “Song Song, it’s getting late. I’ll have someone escort you back. Thank you for your hard work today.”

“It was no trouble at all, I wasn’t doing anything anyway. But since you insist, I’ll head back now.”

Wu Chufeng nodded and waved over a servant, instructing him, “Escort Miss Ji back. Be careful on the road.”

The servant bowed respectfully and said to Ji Xiaosong, “Miss Ji, please follow me.”

Ji Xiaosong waved to Wu Chufeng with a smile. “I’m off, then!”

Wu Chufeng smiled and nodded.

After Ji Xiaosong had left, the smile on Wu Chufeng’s face gradually faded, his gaze turning grim.

He turned to another servant and commanded, “Go and summon Aunt Wang’s two sons. Tell them there’s been trouble at home and to return at once.”

The servant nodded quickly and hurried out the door.

Wu Chufeng stood in the courtyard, his cold gaze fixed on the distant sky.

Wang Cuihua had abused him years ago when he was powerless to fight back. Now, he had all the time and opportunity in the world for revenge.

By the time Ji Xiaosong got home, the sky had already darkened.

As soon as she entered, she saw her younger sister, Ji Xiaohua, sitting in the courtyard, leisurely fanning herself with a cattail fan.

The moment Ji Xiaohua saw her sister return, she leaped up and ran over with a grin.

“Sis, you’re finally back! Why are you so late today?”

Ji Xiaosong patted her sister’s head with a smile, her voice full of smug satisfaction.

“Your big sister went to see a show today. Guess what it was?”

“What show? Don’t tell me you went to stir up trouble at the General Mansion again, Sis?”

Ji Xiaosong was taken aback by Ji Xiaohua’s words. “You kid, is stirring up trouble the only thing you think I can do?”

Seeing Ji Xiaosong say this, Ji Xiaohua was clearly unconvinced.

“Fine, I won’t beat around the bush. Li Zhixiao has been crippled. He bought his exam questions, and the person who helped him was General Wu’s granddaughter.”
