The three of them came out of the neighborhood and got into the car. Zhou Chengchen and Xiao Rou sat in the back seat while in the front, Zhou Qi handed over two bottles of water and a pack of tissues.

Xiao Rou no longer had tears on her face, but her eyes were swollen and red, looking ugly yet utterly pitiable.

"Little Rou’er, shall we go have a drink?"

Zhou Chengchen was never good at comforting people; she couldn’t before, and she still can’t now.

Looking at Xiao Rou’s sad expression, she suddenly blurted out this sentence.

In the front seat, Zhou Qi immediately looked at her through the rear-view mirror, but Xiao Rou calmly raised her head, smiled at Zhou Chengchen, and said, "Drowning sorrows in drink? No need, Cheng Chen, I’m fine."

After pausing a moment, she spoke again, "Cheng Chen, can you put me up for a day? I’m afraid my parents will worry if I go home like this."

"Sure, no problem."

Zhou Chengchen was very straightforward. Although she was living with Xi Siyan now, staying at the Zhou Family for a few days was no issue.

"So, brother, are you taking us back, or should we get a cab?"

"I’ll drive you."

Xiao Rou’s emotions had calmed a lot, but the sadness was still impossible to hide.

The car had been going for some distance when Zhou Chengchen keenly noticed that Zhou Qi would occasionally glance at the rear-view mirror.

In the past, Zhou Chengchen probably wouldn’t have paid any attention, but ever since she learned Zhou Qi’s secret, she had subconsciously noticed it.

She turned her head to look at the person beside her.

Still not a fit...

Xiao Rou, Zhou Qi... really, no matter how you look at it, they just don’t match.

She became friends with Xiao Rou largely because Xiao Rou was somewhat like Su Weiyi, warm and gentle to everyone, even when complaining it was with warmth.

The only difference was that Su Weiyi was quieter and more introverted, while Xiao Rou, though not noisy, is quite cheerful.

And after Su Weiyi got together with Sheng Yanxiao, ever since their hearts opened up, Zhou Chengchen felt they really fit together, one quiet and sweet, the other cool and aloof, perfectly matched.

But her own brother?

Though he was indeed imposing just now, he still didn’t seem like a match, just too incongruent.

She really couldn’t imagine her brother liking Xiao Rou, and what’s more, having a secret crush on her!

Zhou Chengchen sighed; this world is indeed strange.

Actually, right now, with Xiao Rou hurt and in need of comfort, giving this opportunity to Zhou Qi had crossed Zhou Chengchen’s mind, but she quickly dismissed it.

Such opportunistic comfort would provide more sentiment than love, and if her brother really liked Xiao Rou, she hoped he could truly gain a love, not a compromise out of sentiment.

So after Zhou Qi drove them to the Zhou Family, Zhou Chengchen promptly sent him off without another word.

Zhou Qi clearly had no intention of staying either, as he left after having dinner at the Zhou Family.

Zhou Chengchen went to the balcony to call Xi Siyan, recounting the day’s events: "I’ll be staying here for a couple of days to keep Little Rou’er company. You... remember to eat."

"Hmm."

Xi Siyan on the other end was also busy to the point of being overwhelmed. Though the source code was stolen, they knew more about it no matter what. Xi Siyan hadn’t given up; he aimed to seize time, for as long as they launched before the others, they hadn’t lost yet.

Xi Siyan remained calm and rational. He knew that now was not the time for blame, but for solutions, as no one knew what might happen until the very last moment.

After finishing the call with Zhou Chengchen, Xi Siyan rubbed his temples and immersed himself in work once more.
