When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase
Chapter 1388: So You Still Like Him (3)
Xiao Rou turned around to take a look at the mumbling people over there. They were three girls dressed simply, looking quite young, perhaps high school students or at most college freshmen.
Xiao Rou couldn’t help but smile. She thought to herself that she must gossip about this when Zhou Chengchen returned.
She greeted Xi Siyan, and the two of them entered the venue together.
This was Xiao Rou’s first time at such an event, and she was startled by the noisy crowd inside the venue.
Finding her seat, the ticket Zhou Qi gave her was naturally in the best section. Xiao Rou sat down and immediately saw the banner in the hands of the girl next to her — it was exactly the one she had seen earlier in the fast-food restaurant.
Looking around, Xiao Rou turned to Xi Siyan, “It seems like we’re a bit out of place.”
The noise inside the venue was continuous, so Xiao Rou had to lean close to Xi Siyan’s ear when she spoke.
Xi Siyan did the same, responding faintly.
But there was no trace of awkwardness on his face.
Calmly, he took out his phone, opened a WeChat video, put on headphones, and upon hearing something from the other end, the smartly dressed Xi Siyan appeared particularly mature amidst the youthful excitement.
However, he didn’t mind at all, standing up, turning around, and glancing around.
“Wow, it’s really lively here.”
From the other side of the phone came Zhou Chengchen’s excited voice.
Just then, the atmosphere in the venue seemed to reach a peak, especially the girl sitting next to Xiao Rou who suddenly jumped up and shouted loudly, “God Qi! God Qi! God Qi!”
Xiao Rou was startled by her, but soon her attention shifted to the other side.
The competitors on both sides walked onto the stage.
The ticket Zhou Qi gave Xiao Rou was naturally quite close to the front, but since it was a sports arena, no matter how close, there was still a considerable distance.
Yet Xiao Rou immediately spotted Zhou Qi walking behind An Rui.
He was wearing the team uniform she had seen on him before, with a familiar smile on his face, waving and signaling to the audience.
And when Zhou Qi’s gaze came her way, Xiao Rou inexplicably felt a bit nervous.
She didn’t know if he could see her, but Xiao Rou’s heart couldn’t help but clench.
This Zhou Qi was a side of him she hadn’t seen before.
And when Zhou Qi’s gaze seemed to really meet hers, Xiao Rou felt that the surrounding noise seemed to disappear.
Xiao Rou remembered what Zhou Chengchen had told her.
When they returned from the United Kingdom and she went with Zhou Qi to watch An Rui’s match.
At that moment, Zhou Chengchen clearly sensed that her brother should also be on such a stage.
At the time, Xiao Rou just listened; she couldn’t quite understand, as she had never had such an experience or feeling.
But now, Xiao Rou felt she kind of understood what Zhou Chengchen’s words meant.
Games, to her, were an unknown realm, something of a pastime in her eyes, but to Zhou Qi and the ten people currently standing on stage, it was not.
With her lips pressed together, Xiao Rou’s hand on her leg tightened slightly, cheering them on.
Soon, the players took their seats. An Rui glanced at Zhou Qi beside him and noticed that the smile he had been wearing had vanished, and he seemed somewhat grim.
“What’s wrong? Nervous?”
An Rui recalled Zhou Qi’s statement about chasing Xiao Rou if he won today.
Such words are a form of belief. It may not change anything, but it’s an indispensable belief in one’s heart.
