When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase

Chapter 1408: Guide to Chasing Girls (7)

Xiao Rou glanced at the pair of slippers by her feet—a light pink, fuzzy pair, the kind only a typical little girl would wear.

"Cheng Chen’s?" Xiao Rou asked.

Zhou Qi didn’t answer, and Xiao Rou didn’t mind. In this place, with slippers this pink, other than being brought here when Zhou Chengchen came, there really wasn’t any other possibility.

Over there, after handing out the milk tea and getting ready to come over and keep buttering people up, Ah Wai heard what Xiao Rou said and was just about to say something, when a cold look from Zhou Qi forced him to swallow the words back down.

Ah Wai rubbed his nose. Fine, he wasn’t saying a word. No way was he going to say that Brother Qi had picked them out for someone especially.

"Xiao, the milk tea you made is way too good."

With her shoes changed, Xiao Rou walked into the living room—that was also the training room—and someone spoke up immediately.

Xiao Rou smiled slightly. "Thanks, I’m glad you all like it."

"Like? Love it. Absolutely love it."

Same as last time, Xiao Rou sat down on the sofa. After a while, An Rui called out, and the afternoon training started.

The sound of mice and keyboards instantly rose in a dense clatter.

Xiao Rou took a tablet and earphones out of her backpack. She was quiet to begin with, and now she sat even quieter, watching a variety show.

Every now and then, when she saw something funny, her lips would just curve up—she didn’t let out a sound.

Only today, compared to last time, Xiao Rou was obviously more absent-minded. From time to time, her gaze would end up falling on Zhou Qi over there.

She thought of that Saturday night, of Zhou Qi under the lights, waving to the whole audience.

She didn’t understand games, but anything competitive could easily stir the blood in people’s hearts.

It was like when the school held a sports meet—whether it was the hundred-meter dash or the fifteen-hundred—at the instant the runner sprinted through the finish line, it always sparked endless cheers and shouts.

Xiao Rou pressed her lips together. She might not understand, but she believed that Zhou Qi would be the best.

She drifted off again, her eyes quietly fixed on that side.

Suddenly, a pair of dark eyes met hers.

Xiao Rou jolted, and hurriedly shifted her gaze away.

Her cheeks flushed red at a speed you could see with the naked eye. Getting caught while you’re secretly staring at someone—was there anything more embarrassing?

Xiao Rou was definitely not the "yeah I’m looking, what can you do about it" type like she. The shyness in her heart lasted a good few minutes before it eased a bit. She snuck another glance over; Zhou Qi’s eyes had already dropped back to his computer screen, and that let her feel slightly relieved.

Getting caught peeking was mortifying—but also very sweet.

But still, why did Zhou Qi change seats today?

Last time he wasn’t sitting there at all. Back then she could only see half his face, so how come they were suddenly practically face-to-face now?

What Xiao Rou didn’t know was that right then, on the computer, Zhou Qi was controlling his character—gorgeous skills, flashy footwork, directly carrying the whole game.

This was just training; there was no need to play like it was the grand finals, right?

But right now Zhou Qi was clearly in exactly that kind of state, to the point that Ah Shuang, sitting next to him, couldn’t help glancing over at him whenever he had a spare second.

When Zhou Qi one-shot three people on the other team with only two-thirds HP left, Ah Shuang silently lit a candle for the opponents in his heart.

Ah Shuang only had one thought now: of all the things you could provoke, do not provoke Zhou Qi when he’s in love, because this man in love—there is no "most terrifying," only "even more terrifying."

In this distracted state, over one whole afternoon, Xiao Rou only managed to finish two episodes of the variety show.
