Chapter 1422: Chapter 1334: For the Sake of Returning Home (4k) (Two-in-One Chapter)

Imperial Calendar, November 11, 1463, Mason Port.

The murmuring waters were cleaved by the hulls of the ships, as flotillas of barges and flute-shaped vessels formed a long brown wall on the river.

The wall crawled slowly, docking by the pier, extending gangplanks like centipede legs onto the jetty.

Rows of soldiers from the Eastern Battle Army, clad in breastplates and wearing ship-like helmets, armed with spring-loaded guns on their backs, were setting foot on the soil of Mason Port in groups.

These soldiers from Mountain County and Norn loosened their collars with some discomfort, puzzled by the humid and warm weather here.

On the other side of the pier, transport ships crammed and filled all the berths.

Boxes of lead bullets, barrels of lunar mercury, along with bread, salted meat, and herbs, were being relayed by citizens to the warehouses beside the pier.

A few city councilors in Mason Port led by example, helping to carry the goods.

But compared to the truly labor-exerting workers and young citizens, they were merely holding empty boxes for show.

As for their gaze, it was constantly fixed on the pier, awaiting the arrival of key figures.

If the big shots don’t see them, wouldn’t their efforts be in vain?

As they expected, not long after, a middle-aged man in commander’s uniform, with slicked-back hair and a short, thick mustache, approached.

Seeing him arrive, the few city councilors brightened up and immediately dropped what they were doing to greet him: "Commander Victor..."

"No time." Victor raised his hand, "Save the small talk for after the war; I need to understand the situation in Mason Port and the battle conditions immediately."

The faces of the city councilors froze for a moment but still led Victor to an empty cargo warehouse nearby.

Messengers and advisers sent by the Narran Battle Army had been waiting here and stood to greet Victor when he arrived.

At the forefront was Matheus, the Senior Pastor of the Windmill Land Battle Group.

The Narran Battle Army did not just comprise forces from the Dawn Federation and the New Gem Federation but included soldiers from all over the empire.

This wasn’t to say that the few battle armies of the Holy Alliance didn’t have soldiers from other regions and countries, just that the numbers were far less than that of the Narran Battle Army.

The Eastern Battle Group led by Victor was relatively more "pureblood," with over seventy percent being people from the Mountain County of Thousand River Valley, and the rest were Norn immigrants from the Dragon Vein Mountains.

The current Thousand River Valley in North County had long embraced a large number of Norn immigrants as new Thousand River Valley People.

Unlike his brother, Matheus had no military experience, yet due to his excellent political work, he was appointed as the Senior Pastor of the Windmill Land Battle Group.

Given the current situation, the battlefield deciding the fate of Windmill Land was outside of Windmill Land, so he had to come.

"Hello, I’ve heard much about you, Mr. Matheus..." Victor extended his hand first.

The few city councilors had intended to mingle along but were driven off by guards at the door wielding axe guns, leaving reluctantly.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Victor entered the temporarily converted command room, inquiring about the situation at the front line.

The few advisers from the Narran Battle Army responded awkwardly, unsure of how to put it: "The frontline situation isn’t looking good; it is said that Serafe led twenty thousand elite troops from Clan Tedis towards Fort Pianar."

"Are you sure it’s Serafe, with the numbers and locations correct?" Victor couldn’t help but ask, "Let’s not be misled by false information."

"I can guarantee it’s accurate; Cheka members in the vampire-occupied area paid a heavy price to obtain this information." After a brief pause, the adviser continued, "And through clandestine channels, we’ve also received confirmation from Deep Sea."

"No surprise, then." Hearing about Deep Sea, Victor touched his stubbled chin with a face of realization.

Deep Sea is said to be a secret spy for Cheka in the Royal Court.

The Holy Alliance had kept secret his existence until after the war began, when leaders like Victor and chief pastors and advisers became aware of Deep Sea.

As to his specific identity, only René from Cheka and Saint Son Horn knew.

Regardless, the intelligence he provided has been highly accurate, including revealing the numbers of the sixty thousand Royal Palace Army this time.

If he hadn’t disclosed the existence of those sixty thousand Royal Palace troops, it’s likely that there wouldn’t be central command debates on whether to advance or retreat.

With that, the entire battle situation became apparent.

As Konyaz advanced, the Royal Court’s troops made rapid progress during this period, taking over numerous Immortal Stone Field cities step by step.

One must commend the worth of Konyaz, the Royal Court’s top general.

Under his command, the Royal Court’s army hadn’t faltered even once, leaving no chance for the Holy Alliance troops.

After breaking through Fort Pianar, the sixty thousand Royal Palace Army swiftly captured Fishing City without stopping.

The speed of their advance made them seem almost like a different army.

Moreover, during their advance, Konyaz consistently seized opportunities to crush the freshly assembled Narran Battle Army.

This forced the Narran Battle Army to retreat repeatedly, hardly executing any tasks to block the enemy army.

The sixty thousand Royal Palace Army had already divided into three routes, advancing towards Immortal Stone Field.

One route headed north, pinning down the Western Battle Army at Shalan Castle.

Another forked at Fishing City, with one part pushing north to attack Pontor City, and another continuing the assault straight towards Wheel City.

Victor surmised this urgency for his recall was the reason.

"That’s the situation." The explaining adviser retracted the small wooden stick he had been pointing at the map with, "It’s now a matter of timing the encirclement."
