Chapter 147: Chapter 138: Shining in Their Respective Fields

For the time being, Rowan Rhodes had a much more relaxing time. Every two hours, he would take the Seagull Family up to the fourth floor to harvest the Eira Grass before planting a new batch. In between, he patrolled the various workshops, quickly repairing any malfunctioning machines to keep production running smoothly.

Any raw materials he lacked were easily acquired through the trading hall and the Sea Survival Shop. Occasionally, he would chat with the resident players who stopped by, supplying them with the Equipment and resources they needed.

Truth be told, until the free exploration phase officially began, there was virtually nothing in the other players’ inventories that Rowan coveted. When it came to basic resources, his stockpile was completely unrivaled. As such, he was eagerly looking forward to exploring the fourth island. Unlocking it would officially open up the true gameplay of the Sea Survival Game.

While Rowan enjoyed his leisurely pace, players in other districts were grinding hard.

District 1938.

By now, Jaina Harmon had successfully added Rowan as a friend. Her admiration for the big boss was absolute. Since she was an original partner in the Antidote and Eira Grass business, she knew exactly how monumental a task it was to mass-produce the medicine. What had started as a modest side hustle had exploded into a large-scale commercial enterprise.

Currently, she was on the top floor of her raft. Since space was limited, she had constructed shelving units. The multi-tiered Seed Beds allowed her to maximize every inch of the area. Alongside the Eira Grass, she was cultivating a variety of other plants, having planted every single seed in her inventory.

Right next to the planting area sat ten Medical Tables. Naturally, their Level couldn’t compare to Rowan’s; it took her a full five minutes to process the Eira Grass and Coconut meat into an Antidote. More importantly, she didn’t have automated production capabilities. Every five minutes, she had to manually harvest the finished batch and load in the new raw materials.

After quickly collecting a fresh batch of Antidote, Jaina fed the next round of resources into the Medical Tables. With that done, she moved over to a nearby cooking station. She was busy researching a new type of medicine.

Not only was this her personal hobby, but Rowan had also extended a very lucrative offer to her. If she could develop a new medicinal formula, he promised to buy it for several thousand units of currency and establish a deep partnership with her. Having already tasted the sweet benefits of partnering with him on the Eira Grass and Antidotes, Jaina had unwavering faith in his promises. After all, she wasn’t the only player with a Medical Skill collaborating with him! She had to race against the clock.

While immersed in her research, Jaina suddenly felt the air in the room grow slightly stuffy. The moment she noticed it, she immediately checked her air purifier. Sure enough, the device had completely burned out.

She quickly pulled out a new air purifier and swapped it in. Once it was running, the air quality instantly improved, becoming comfortable to breathe again. Jaina recalled that she had just replaced the filter a mere three hours ago. It was obvious now: although it wasn’t noticeable indoors, the concentration of viruses in the outside air was rapidly increasing, causing the purifiers to degrade at an accelerated rate.

She realized that if players weren’t prepared for this, a vast number of them would undoubtedly die. Sure enough, upon opening the world chat channel, Jaina saw nothing but a sea of anguished wails.

Pursing her lips, she withdrew her attention from the chat. Right now, she could only afford to look after herself. Supplying the market with Antidotes was already her way of contributing her Strength.

District 5323.

After clearing out the remaining mutated marine creatures outside, Ian Sinclair breathed a slight sigh of relief. Ever since receiving the warning yesterday, he had kept a close eye on the mutated marine creatures in his vicinity. He soon realized that there were indeed quite a few stragglers left behind. After all, he devoted the vast majority of his energy to Farming.

Thankfully, the other resident players had warned him. It made sense. Anyone selected to be a resident player possessed an incredibly sharp and active mind. Otherwise, how could they possibly have been handpicked by the Sea Survival Shop out of the vast ocean of players? This was especially true for those who specialized in lifestyle Skills.

Returning to the interior of his raft, Ian first inspected the condition of his air purifier. Satisfied that it was functioning properly, he took the fresh seafood he had just harvested to the trading hall, exchanging it for food items that provided special Effects.

The moment he got his hands on them, he quickly scarfed them down, and his condition began to recover rapidly. Only after feeling completely refreshed did Ian finally have the peace of mind to browse through the various large and small chat groups.
