Chapter 193: Chapter 169: New Equipment - Water-Repelling Pearl

Guided by both her wireless devices and the Seagull Family, Rowan Rhodes’s raft soon arrived above the sunken ship.

She knew it was a massive vessel because its shadow on the ocean floor was several times larger than the previous shipwreck she had encountered. Based on her estimates, this sunken ship was likely multiple stories high. This was incredibly advantageous for her. The larger the shipwreck, the more resources it held inside. Moreover, the sunken ship itself was a valuable resource. Rowan was determined to strip it clean; there was no way she would leave any of these benefits for others.

After dropping the anchor, her raft settled directly over the shipwreck. Rowan immediately pulled out her diving suit, oxygen bottles, and other underwater Equipment. Meanwhile, the Seagull Family perched on various corners of the raft, glancing left and right. They were clearly keeping watch for her.

After all, in regions with islands and shipwrecks, players from the same zone could run into one another. In addition to acting as lookouts, the Seagull Family was also busy salvaging various resources floating on the ocean surface. It was safe to say that Rowan’s pets were just as hardworking and relentlessly driven as their master!

At present, the most leisurely creature on the raft was Void Beast Atticus. As an unofficial member of her crew, it was simply watching Rowan’s Equipment with intense curiosity. Noticing its intrigued expression, an idea sparked in Rowan’s mind. She felt this was another perfect opportunity to fish for information.

"These are our diving tools. Do you guys use these too?" Rowan asked. Since they lived on the sea, they definitely had to go underwater frequently and must have their own diving gear.

"No, this is my first time seeing this kind of diving tool! We all use Water-Repelling Pearls," Void Beast Atticus replied, completely oblivious to Rowan’s ulterior motives and spilling the beans without hesitation.

"A Water-Repelling Pearl? That sounds very convenient," Rowan said, her tone tinged with awe. This was the kind of incredible treasure that players had no clue about! She couldn’t help but wonder when the residents of the Deep Sea Region would finally come out and trade with them.

"It is very convenient. It forms a bubble space around us, allowing us to breathe freely," Void Beast Atticus continued its explanation. "But I don’t have one. If I did, I would give it to you, Rowan."

Rowan was momentarily speechless.

With a soft chuckle, she asked, "Do your fellow clan members have any? If they do, I’d really love to make a trade." Given that she would be diving frequently in the future, having a Water-Repelling Pearl would be an absolute game-changer.

"I’ll ask them for you," Void Beast Atticus readily agreed.

"Okay, thank you. I’m going to head down into the water now. Feel free to do whatever you want! Make yourself at home," Rowan said before diving straight in. Her words were entirely sincere. After all, Void Beast Atticus had given her an immense amount of help, and its pure, innocent nature had won her over. She might be using it to gather information, but she genuinely intended to treat it well.

Left behind on the raft, Void Beast Atticus was profoundly moved once again. It silently vowed to do whatever it took—even begging its elders—to trade for a Water-Repelling Pearl for Rowan. After finishing its communications, it watched the bustling Seagull Family for a moment, thought about it, and then happily bounced off to find the Big Turtle on the fourth floor.

Upon arriving on the fourth floor, Void Beast Atticus spotted the Big Turtle paddling leisurely in a pool. The Big Turtle was currently in charge of the planting base and the pasture on this level. It had meticulously planned out every single Seed Bed, deliberately setting aside some time to rest. This was its well-deserved leisure time. A small table sat next to the pool, laden with fruits, snacks, and drinks.

Void Beast Atticus watched with a hint of envy. This was a truly cozy and delightful life. Suddenly, it felt that living with Rowan wasn’t a bad idea at all. But then it realized that, aside from not officially being her pet, its current lifestyle was virtually no different from theirs. At this moment, Void Beast Atticus didn’t realize that, to a certain extent, it had already bound itself to Rowan.

Seemingly noticing the Void Beast’s presence, the Big Turtle extended an invitation. "Atticus, come down into the water and play!"

"Okay!"

Void Beast Atticus immediately leaped into the pool. Basking in the sun, snacking, and sipping on drinks, it felt that life was absolutely wonderful. However, in the very next instant, it sensed a player landing on its island. Having no other choice, it activated a Skill, teleporting from Rowan’s raft back to the Void Isle.

Meanwhile, Rowan had already dived down to the sunken ship. In front of the massive wreckage, she appeared incredibly tiny. The first thing she did was swim a lap around the perimeter to gauge its size, the number of decks, and its various entrances and exits. After completing this preliminary scouting lap, she returned to the raft, as her diving suit and oxygen bottles had reached their limits.

Rowan broke down the ruined Equipment and was preparing to put on a new set. Suddenly, the space in front of her distorted, and Void Beast Atticus appeared right before her eyes.

"Rowan, I just traded five burning bottles for a Water-Repelling Pearl for you!" it announced excitedly. As it spoke, an azure Water-Repelling Pearl floated into view.

Rowan reached out to take it, and its Introduction immediately popped up on her interface.

[Item: Water-Repelling Pearl (B-level)]

[Function: Grants the wielder the ability to repel water. Duration: 10 hours. Cooldown: 48 hours.]

Reading the Introduction, Rowan raised an eyebrow. So there was a time limit after all. Still, ten hours was more than enough. Moreover, a forty-eight-hour cooldown meant it could be reused endlessly after the resting period. This practically made it a permanent treasure! And she had gotten it for a mere five burning bottles? What an absolute steal!

Without hesitation, Rowan shoved one hundred burning bottles into Void Beast Atticus’s paws. The moment it received them, it was completely stunned.

"Why did you give me so many?" it asked, its tone filled with utter confusion.

"This Equipment is incredibly precious to me, and I think it’s well worth this price," Rowan explained. "You managed to trade it for me, so I can’t treat you unfairly! Just take it as your finder’s fee." She would have gladly paid more than a hundred burning bottles; to her, it was worth every single one.

Staring at the hundred extra burning bottles in its personal space, Void Beast Atticus’s eyes sparkled. It leaped into Rowan’s arms and affectionately rubbed against her. "Rowan, you’re so good to me! And so generous!"

"You think this is generous? It’s just that you guys possess these treasures but overlook their true value," Rowan clarified. "Perhaps things like this are common for a Magical Race, but for us, this is a legendary artifact. It’s something that only exists in myths, not in reality."

"Do you want more?" Void Beast Atticus asked eagerly. "If you do, I can keep trading for you. You can use them to trade with other players for even more treasures!"

Hearing the pure sincerity in its voice, the corners of Rowan’s lips curled up. "Yes, I want more! If I manage to sell them later, we’ll split the profits fifty-fifty."

Ever since she met Void Beast Atticus, she really had been taking advantage of it left and right! However, it was an advantage she simply couldn’t resist. Her only option was to share her newfound wealth with it.

"Okay! I’ll go find more people to trade with!" Void Beast Atticus cheered, feeling inexplicably joyous.

This must be what the clan elders meant by "friends"! Hehe, it had made a great friend!

Shortly after, dressed in her normal clothes and clutching the Water-Repelling Pearl, Rowan stood at the edge of the raft. Taking a deep breath, she plunged into the sea.

The moment she hit the water, she watched in awe as the ocean physically parted around her, encasing her in what felt like a protective bubble. At the same time, a countdown timer for the Water-Repelling Pearl appeared on her interface, ensuring she wouldn’t accidentally exceed the time limit.

This was incredibly handy!

Marveling at the magic, Rowan brought her new Equipment along and officially began her exploration of the sunken ship.
