Who Brought Him into the Cultivation World?
Chapter 991: Suspicion
When Wuxian revealed his suspicions, both Shang Wanfeng and Jiang Xinyuan’s faces turned ashen.
No method could bury secrets more thoroughly than overturning everything.
If the Heavenly Dao could be overthrown, those two naturally wouldn’t want anyone else to find out.
By removing all rules, no cultivator would ever threaten them again.
“What if it’s true?”
Shang Wanfeng’s face gradually turned pale. If Wuxian’s conjectures came true, they wouldn’t survive.
This was something he found hard to accept.
It seemed no one could accept such an outcome.
“Then what do we do?”
Jiang Xinyuan couldn’t help but ask. The longer one lives, the more they fear death, especially at their level.
Death seemed like something they’d never crossed paths with.
But if it truly struck, the horror would come crashing down like waves, set to engulf them.
Ironically, as Jiang Xinyuan spoke, his fingers couldn’t help but tremble slightly.
Shang Wanfeng glanced over and couldn’t help but say,
“What are you trembling for, coward?”
Jiang Xinyuan retorted with annoyance, “Then why is your mouth trembling?”
Everyone stood on common ground.
Wuxian was silent for a long time, his face perpetually grim, and after a while, he sighed softly.
“Since the teacher reserves some secrets, we ought to find a way out for ourselves.”
Despite saying this, the path to survival was shrouded in confusion.
…
Similarly lost in confusion, Jiu You returned with Wujiu to the Western Territory camp.
“Are those divine technique monsters?”
Wujiu whispered to Jiu You.
The entire camp of the Western Territory was deserted, but on their way back, they too encountered the faceless ones.
Similarly, these events mirrored Wuxian and his companions’ experiences.
The two of them had no idea that the First Hall had such contingencies.
This struck them as particularly strange.
As representatives of the Second and Third Halls, within the realm of Yama Hall, there were things hidden from them.
This was genuinely unsettling.
Thus, upon returning, their expressions were unusual, their hearts pounding.
If these contingencies circumvented them, it meant they were not part of the plan by the one behind the scenes.
Wujiu was even more worried that his esteemed Third Hall would ultimately be fodder.
Jiu You was silent, glanced at the other, signaling him to hush.
Because the shadow of the First Hall, Yin Mo, was already waiting ahead.
“Well done.”
Yin Mo smiled broadly, offering praise.
“It is my duty.”
Jiu You kept a humble demeanor, bowing repeatedly with Wujiu.
“I know everything.”
With a smile, Yin Mo spoke. He had naturally received their report; the matter of Han Yu was no secret.
This was also why he stood here.
“The master needs him dead, come with me!”
The two stood stunned!
Kill Han Yu?
Before they could react, Yin Mo had already ventured out of the camp.
They hurriedly pursued him into the void.
Once outside the Western Territory, Yin Mo halted, standing silently at the canyon’s edge, waiting.
Until the two landed, they were filled with doubts, only to hear Yin Mo say unexpectedly,
“What do you think of the faceless ones?”
Wujiu and Jiu You collectively paled, suspecting it was a test.
Consequently, they both answered, “We shall follow the master’s arrangement.”
Arrangement?
A cold smile unwittingly appeared on Yin Mo’s face. If it was truly his arrangement, he wouldn’t be waiting here.
Granted, he was the Celestial Being’s sole disciple, yet even he had just discovered these contingencies.
Moreover, his first thought was that the master didn’t trust him.
The faceless ones, as the final means to seize control, shouldn’t be something kept hidden.
As the visible leader of Yama Hall, if he couldn’t even inquire about such matters,
clearly, the master hadn’t included him in the planning.
This was intriguing. Not trusting him?
If he didn’t even trust his sole disciple, then he probably intended to trust no one.
This inexplicably awakened a sense of crisis within him.
This feeling grew stronger, so strong that he momentarily harbored a terrifying illusion between life and death.
Seeing the two before him obediently nodding, whether out of genuine fear or opportunistic pretense!
Yin Mo naturally wanted to probe deeper.
The outcome was self-explanatory; these two knew nothing.
He seemed to have formulated an answer internally.
He truly trusted no one.
If the faceless ones had materialized, Yama Hall might have become dispensable.
If Yama Hall was dispensable, then weren’t they also dispensable?
Yin Mo decided to be straightforward, his expression quickly serious, his tone slightly stern as he spoke, “What if I told you the faceless ones weren’t arranged by me, what would you think?”
Jiu You remained silent but was visibly moved, hesitant to speak, while Wujiu couldn’t refrain from exclaiming.
“How can that be, aren’t you the First Hall? Even you don’t know.”
Jiu You wanted to hold back this loose-tongued individual, but it was too late.
Because he was unsure if what the other said was truth or deception.
What if it was a trap waiting for them?
Yin Mo, however, shook his head gravely, “The time of my discovery wasn’t much different from yours, in fact, I only learned recently.”
“Jiu You, what do you think?”
After saying this, he directly directed the question to Jiu You.
Jiu You fell silent for a moment, raising his head after a while in search of clues from the other’s expression, but Yin Mo’s serious demeanor seemed genuine.
“Is the master testing us?”
Jiu You helplessly chose to be candid.
Yin Mo sighed inexplicably, “If I wanted to test you, I wouldn’t wait until we left to speak.”
Since he hadn’t spoken in the Western Territory camp, choosing to speak outside, it naturally indicated that some things he didn’t wish to be overheard by that one.
With this, Jiu You finally hesitated and spoke slowly.
“The master doesn’t trust us?”
In truth, what he wanted to say was more straightforward, or perhaps that the master no longer needed them.
Yet, owing to Yin Mo’s status as the Celestial Being’s disciple, he ultimately didn’t dare.
If he didn’t dare to speak, Yin Mo spoke on his behalf.
“He trusts no one; perhaps we’ve become useless to him.”
The two paled with shock, finding it unimaginable for such words to come from Yin Mo.
Yet Yin Mo continued to speak.
“What do you think, if the Celestial Dao Sect across the way is in a similar situation, what would that indicate?”
For him to speak so, he surely had paid special attention to Wuxian and the others’ actions.
The timing of the Celestial Dao Sect’s Dharma Aspect monsters’ appearance was after them; in other words, it wasn’t Wuxian’s arrangement.
If it were that side’s own doing, wouldn’t it be similar to this side?
If only Yama Hall experienced such a situation, it would indicate caution.
But if both parties employed similar methods, it might suggest a shared objective.
The objective wasn’t difficult to deduce; both aimed to abandon those below.
For him to think this way, Jiu You naturally arrived at the same conclusion.
Thus, Jiu You’s expression suddenly turned pale, his lips trembling uncontrollably.
As if faced with a great terror.
“Speak your mind; today’s conversation won’t be known by a fourth person!”
Yin Mo glanced subtly, his voice deep.
Jiu You fearfully glanced westward, speaking with some trepidation, “Could we die?”
This was certainly what Yin Mo wished to know, for he shared the same suspicions as the other.
