Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1764 - 1040: The Temptation of the Fat Knights (Part 2)
"Alright, I entrust my child to you." Luluwo took on the demeanor of a family elder and asked Turci for help.
It was clear that at least her mindset had matured over the past year.
"By the way, can I discuss the news of Abyss Magic with other colleagues, without divulging your privacy?"
"No problem, no problem, feel free to discuss it. I even plan to publicly share the information soon." She waved her hand generously.
"That’s great." Turci laughed.
In the following days, Chaos was being studied by the professors Turci had brought to the laboratory of the Magic Association.
"This shouldn’t be, why is his physical condition completely normal?"
"Isn’t the Abyss supposed to be a corrosive substance that erodes the body?"
"Why does magic derived from it have no effect on the user?"
A group of professors and researchers surrounded Chaos, seemingly hoping for something to go wrong with him.
The perfectly normal situation left them feeling disappointed, as it did not match their expectations.
Chaos felt like a rare animal in a zoo, being observed with curiosity, but unfortunately, he had no mood to reflect on it.
Because he had a tiny, tiny part that was not human! What if the Fallen Demon Egg’s influence was discovered?
Every moment spent in the research institute was tormenting.
After learning magic from the Sain Dungeon, one should be able to comprehend its principles and learn or even create it independently.
But Chaos had no innate magic talent, so he could not comprehend Abyss Magic and could only mechanically use the Dark Bomb.
He could only feel chaos from the Dark Bomb. Creating new Abyss Magic was already out of the question; being able to use it was good enough.
This made the researchers think he was too incompetent, to the extent that a professor was considering forming a group to visit Ulashiro to personally learn the Dark Bomb and understand what this magic was all about.
Although the research yielded no significant results, news about Abyss Magic spread.
The news seemed limited in its dissemination, currently only circulating among a select few capable adventurers, not yet widely known.
"Abyss can actually be turned into magic that people learn?"
This was almost everyone’s first reaction upon hearing the news, then the second reaction was:
"Where can I learn it?"
Luluwo’s thoughts seemed to spread like an infectious phenomenon!
However, besides the Abyss Magic that many are interested in, there’s another news drawing specific attention.
"Artorias in his prime?"
In Bed City, at the Fran Guard’s station.
Dal listened to a report from a subordinate, doubting whether he had heard it correctly for the first time.
"No missing arm or other limbs, and even has sanity?"
"Not only that, but still has a shield. We never knew Artorias used a shield!"
Artorias using a shield?
Dal rubbed his brow, trying to imagine Artorias wielding a shield... No, people can’t imagine something they’ve never seen before.
What was most unacceptable was that someone had already witnessed Artorias in his prime ahead of them!
It’s infuriating; at this rate, their identity as solo Abyss Wanderers would be a laughingstock!
No way, they must act quickly!
"Did the news come from the Skyrim Strategy Group?"
Upon receiving a confirming response, Dal could no longer sit still, stood up, and said while leaving:
"I’ll go ask them about it now."
After that, Tami’s vivid account made Dal envious, leading him to make a decision.
Setting out for Ulashiro now, Fran Guard begins the expedition!
Fran Guard began a grand expedition towards Ulashiro.
Luluwo was preparing all available tools, ready to venture into Sain.
Abyss Magic was drawing more people to investigate deeply.
Meanwhile, on another side of the Sain Dungeon.
"Lap Brothers, you’re truly a righteous person."
At the gathering place, on a hill beside a Poison Swamp.
Leon, looking rugged like a king of the wild, was moved as he received something from Lapu. It was a light point.
Moreover, it was a golden light point, the golden legend!
It’s the [Wedge-shaped Stone Disc]! A treasure capable of enhancing weapons to their strongest state. So far, very few have obtained this item, and when it appears in the market, every faction indisputably competes for it.
Presumably, obtaining such a treasure requires extraordinary effort, at least a good battle with a powerful Boss Monster.
No, Lapu just handed it over with a click; Leon was merely the freeloader accepting the gift.
"Thank you so much, Lapu brother, I cannot repay your kindness."
The recent experiences made Leon adept at saying auspicious words.
After getting directions from Lapu, he ventured into the depths of the gathering place, searching for the treasure and Ring Seal City mentioned.
But the outcome was predictably unsuccessful.
The primary reason is that he’s increasingly lacking resources, and the monsters he encounters are becoming stronger, even feeling hard-pressed with his current strength.
Not sure why, theoretically, the weaker the flame, the weaker the creatures living in the world, right? But the fire in the gathering place extinguished, yet these born monsters are ridiculously strong!
Not to mention the ubiquitous wet humanoids, these soggy creatures taught the new advent Leon a thorough lesson, becoming his best mentor in the gathering place, teaching him never to underestimate any Monster.
The most frustrating Monster now is the Harland Knight.
Or calling them "Fatty" is more venting.
These are knights who due to inflated humanity turned into headless fatties, they are tall and stout, wielding a Great Curved Sword, it’s clear from the look that these guys are highly resilient and hard to defeat.
In fact, they are indeed like that, Harland Knights seem to have the features of Chaos-written all over their faces, encountering them always results in a disgusting battle.
Leon, running along this road, was solely disgusted by the teamed-up Harland Knights. If another Pilgrimage Angel joins while battling these fatties, then it’s truly blissful.
His equipment has been battered, donning scavenged and pieced-together gear, he resembles more like a wild man, yet surprisingly, his death count is still far from getting kicked out of the Sain Dungeon.
This is also an experience, isn’t it?
The quest for treasure often failed due to Monster disruptions and the terrain. Leon almost gave up, but when he arrived at the hill to rest, he unexpectedly encountered Lapu.
Immediately upon meeting, Lapu handed him the golden light point, claiming it as the previously mentioned treasure, seeing Leon busy, he helped by bringing the treasure to him.
This gave Leon immense psychological comfort in the dangerous environment of the gathering place, further confirming Lapu as a truly good brother.
"It seems our meeting is fate. Next, I’m going to find Ring Seal City. According to my information, I must pass through there first."
Lapu pointed to a distant place, as he made this gesture,
a demon’s fierce roar resounded from afar.
