Who Needs a CEO? I Choose Stardom
Chapter 246 - 190: Emphasis and Tone
The Sang family was up bright and early to get ready, and Ni Bingyan didn’t wake up late either.
Although Sang Yuan said he’d pick her up, she still decided to drive her own car.
’Out in the middle of nowhere, if something happens, am I supposed to walk all the way back to the city?’
It wasn’t that she didn’t trust Sang Yuan, but today she was going with him to meet his friends. Who knew what their personalities would be like?
Even married couples fight, so it’s perfectly normal for a dating couple to argue.
’If I don’t get along with his friends, I can just make up an excuse and drive off. If I don’t have my car with me, how frustrating would that be?’
When it came down to it, she still lacked confidence.
With Jiang Sheng’s case as a precedent, she always felt that even if the Sang family didn’t look down on her, the people in their circle would despise her for being an actress.
Although she didn’t want to admit it, this kind of disdain was truly widespread in society.
She packed her fishing tackle bag, getting all the accessories and bait ready. A hat, sunglasses, a sun umbrella, a landing net, a collapsible bucket, a collapsible stool...
She brought two collapsible stools.
’I can finally experience the joy of a pro—bringing a boyfriend along to help with the landing net while fishing.’
Hehe.
’There are branches everywhere out in the wild, so it doesn’t matter if we bring a grill. But there will be tons of mosquitoes, so mosquito repellent and mosquito coils are a must...’
She hadn’t expected Sang Yuan’s friends to also enjoy fishing. Ni Bingyan was delighted!
If Sang Yuan hadn’t suggested fishing, she probably would have hesitated. But speaking of fishing, she wasn’t worried at all.
’Anglers of the world are one big family~ We’ll definitely have tons of things to talk about.’
After preparing all the gear and putting it in the trunk, Ni Bingyan slipped into the kitchen and started preparing the food.
She was very confident in her skills. It was impossible for there to be no fish in Baiyun Reservoir. As long as there were fish, she was sure she could catch them.
By then, there would definitely be more grilled fish than they could eat.
’Too much meat won’t do. I should bring some vegetables.’
With this in mind, Ni Bingyan prepared a dozen or so straight, purple eggplants, as well as green peppers, potatoes, lotus roots, large cloves of garlic, and so on.
Sang Yuan mentioned his friends were bringing a child, so cumin and spicy flavors wouldn’t be suitable. Ni Bingyan picked up her kitchen knife again, WHACK WHACK WHACK, and smashed a pile of garlic. She then used a food processor to mince it, filling a large bowl.
Once she was more or less ready, she didn’t wait for Sang Yuan to come find her. She drove directly to the back gate of the Sang family’s home and, hiding furtively in her car, gave Sang Yuan a call.
She was a little too embarrassed to see Sang Yuan’s parents right now.
Sang Yuan got the message and immediately came out, pulling his small wagon.
"Why did you prepare so much stuff?"
Seeing her get out of the car to help, Sang Yuan didn’t refuse. Besides the storage container in his hands, there wasn’t anything heavy anyway.
"There are a lot of us today, and we’re going out to the countryside. It’s not convenient to buy things, so it’s better to be fully prepared."
Seeing him struggle to lift it, Ni Bingyan craned her neck to look into the trunk. "What is that? It’s so heavy!"
Sang Yuan opened the lid to show her.
Inside were a dozen or so large food containers, all sealed tightly and stacked together. The gaps were filled with rock-hard ice packs.
The weather was too hot; they were afraid the marinated meat would spoil.
"That’s so thoughtful."
"Mhm, the chef at home prepared these. I was worried I’d mess up the seasoning. Here, have some freshly made beef jerky. You can sit in the passenger seat and snack on it. I’ll have this stuff loaded in the car in a jiffy."
Ni Bingyan disagreed and helped him move the things into the car.
"This is so much stuff. Can we even finish it all? Even the back seat is full."
"It’s fine. We can just bring back whatever doesn’t spoil easily."
The way the two of them interacted was just like an old married couple. They were a perfect match!
The old couple hid behind the main gate, covering their mouths as they peeked, chuckling at the sight!
When it was time to leave, Ni Bingyan wouldn’t let him drive and got straight into the driver’s seat.
"Your driving is terrible! The roads over there are bad. Even if you’re not scared, I am!"
Sang Yuan immediately went to the passenger seat, completely unconcerned about saving face.
"Su Lan! Our son is setting this kind of tone right from the start. Isn’t he afraid his friends will laugh at him?"
Among the young masters in their circle, you never heard of any of them riding in a girl’s car, let alone letting her drive him.
It would give people the wrong impression that the woman was the dominant one and the man was weak.
Shui Sulan rolled her eyes.
"What’s the matter? A little laughter isn’t going to kill anyone. How a couple lives their life is none of anyone else’s business. Who can say a single bad thing about our son’s character? Is this being ’henpecked’? Isn’t it just love? I mean, do you listen to me because you’re scared you can’t beat me in a fight? You’ve lived this long—has anyone ever laughed at you for it? Hmph!"
Sang Jingwen’s eyes widened. He was left speechless.
"You have a point. From what I’ve seen, among the people I know, those who respect their wives generally lead good lives. Those who don’t take their wives seriously usually don’t last long."
Shui Sulan nodded.
"And another thing, you need to look at the bigger picture. Think about all those companies that have declined because a divorce caused their stock prices to fall. Have you not seen enough of those over the years?"
For a family like theirs, marriage wasn’t just a matter of two people’s feelings; it also involved the division of a large fortune.
Even for those who signed prenuptial agreements, as long as children were involved, a divorce would still be a devastating blow.
The couple knew that Sang Yuan had no intention of signing that kind of agreement, which would only hurt the marital relationship, so naturally, they hoped for the two of them to have a strong bond.
In Shui Sulan’s eyes, it was a very good thing that her son didn’t have those nasty habits.
A man’s pride isn’t demonstrated in things like this.
