Who Says I'm Not a Proper Adventurer?
Chapter 211: Five Sub-human Girls! Arrangement
Chapter 211: Chapter 211: Five Sub-human Girls! Arrangement
This boy named Lance was no simple adventurer who had scraped by in the countryside.
’He might be an illegitimate son or a legitimate prince of the Pandragon Royal Family, fostered in White River Province due to some cruel court struggle!
Or... could he be from that legitimate bloodline left over from the great royal turmoil hundreds of years ago?’
Just thinking along these lines, any one of these possibilities was enough to make Vance’s legs go completely weak.
He suddenly shivered violently.
’That blind dog, Ilya!
He almost gave the spot belonging to a young highness—one who very likely possesses pure royal blood—to the useless son of some damn Earl’s Family!’
Of course, Vance’s uncontrollable shivering didn’t escape the eyes of the other two present. Lance’s gaze, in particular, shot over immediately.
Vance panicked and immediately tried to cover it up with a dry laugh.
"There’s a bit of a draft in here. I suddenly feel a little cold."
He rubbed his hands together and quickly brought up the next arrangement to change the subject.
"It’s like this. For ease of management, all non-residents of the city who have registered for the Heroic Spirit Baptism at the Veterans’ Hospital will be provided with safe and comfortable accommodations, arranged by us."
Vance gestured, his face wreathed in smiles.
"Your registration is all complete."
"You can rest for a bit in the lounge next to the main hall. Inside, you’ll find detailed information about tomorrow’s Heroic Spirit Baptism. You can look it over to understand the procedure."
"When you’re finished, I will personally escort you to your accommodations."
Standing behind him, Ilya couldn’t help but steal a glance at his direct supervisor upon hearing this.
’Since when did the Veterans’ Hospital have a welfare policy of arranging accommodations for non-residents?’
’He’d been working here for so many years and had never heard of such a thing!’
Lance was also a little surprised to hear this arrangement.
He had been planning to find a clean inn for the night.
It seemed Uncle Rein’s influence in the military was much greater than he had imagined.
Not only could it solve problems of corruption, but it even covered logistical support like food and lodging.
Since someone was offering to make arrangements, he was happy to be spared the trouble of finding a place to stay.
He had spent the previous night in an inn near the port, which was damp and uncomfortable.
Lance nodded, took the documents, and turned to walk toward the lounge.
Once Lance’s back had completely disappeared around the corner of the hallway, the clerk Ilya, who had been holding his breath, finally dared to ask timidly.
"M-Mr. Records Officer?"
"Um, about the Earl’s Family... how should we explain this to them..."
"Explain my ass!"
Vance spun around abruptly.
In a lowered voice, he unleashed a torrent of abuse right in Ilya’s face, nearly spraying him with spittle.
"You imbecile!"
"Do you have any idea what a huge mess you almost caused!"
Vance glared at him, his eyes filled with a fierce light.
"I’m warning you, regarding everything that happened today, no matter who comes asking—even if the Count himself is standing right here—you must insist that you know nothing!"
After his tirade, Vance took out a handkerchief and wiped the cold sweat that was still beading on his forehead.
He turned his head, his gaze fixed on the doorway where Lance had disappeared.
A gambler’s madness gradually lit up in his small eyes.
’If this young highness, who very likely has royal blood, can truly resonate with the Red Dragon Treasure during tomorrow’s Heroic Spirit Baptism in the Star Realm, receive the Protection of Clovis Pendragon’s Heroic Spirit, and make a powerful return to the center of power in the Royal Capital... then this chance encounter today is absolutely the most heaven-sent fortune that I, Vance, have ever come across in my entire life!’
’I must seize this golden opportunity and do everything in my power to "lick" this young highness’s boots until he’s satisfied.’
The thought of arranging high-class accommodations, staffing, and the enormous cost of exchanging for the Enchanted Equipment—all of which would come out of his own pocket—made his money-grubbing heart ache with pain.
But this was an investment that could earn him the glory of backing an emperor-to-be.
’Nothing ventured, nothing gained. This money is well spent!’
...
When Lance pushed open the carved wooden door and stepped into the luxurious suite Vance had arranged, the young man, who had lived in a small town ever since he transmigrated, was truly stunned by the overwhelming luxury that greeted him.
’This room’s decor is on par with a top-tier star-rated hotel from my past life, isn’t it?’
He glanced down.
Under his feet was a white carpet woven from the fur of some rare beast. It was thick and soft, and walking on it was like stepping on clouds—it didn’t make the slightest sound.
He looked up and saw that hanging from the ceiling wasn’t one of those common, cheap Magic Crystal Lamps.
Instead, it was a single, perfectly cut slab of Reflection Crystal Stone.
The stone emitted a faint, warm yellow halo, its light bright but not the least bit glaring, illuminating the entire spacious room as if it were daytime.
In the corner of the room stood a Magical Phonograph that was half as tall as a person.
The horn-shaped opening of the phonograph was slowly emitting a constant, gentle breeze—a cool, refreshing wind precisely regulated by an Alchemy Array, which felt very pleasant on the skin.
Drifting through the air with the breeze was a soothing instrumental piece played on an Elf Harp, its melody beautiful and enchanting.
And in the very center of this luxurious room,
stood a ridiculously large, four-poster, velvet canopied bed.
To be honest, if Lance were the only one in the room right now,
upon seeing this comfortable bed, he would have undoubtedly dived right onto it without a second thought, buried himself in the covers, and had a wonderful night’s sleep.
But now he stood at the doorway, his feet seemingly nailed to the carpet, not daring to move even half a step forward.
Because right in front of that large bed stood a row of girls in high-class, black-and-white maid outfits, waiting respectfully.
Lance was completely dumbfounded. His gaze swept over them, and he saw there were five girls in total.
Moreover, as if Vance wanted to show him the full range of charms White River City had to offer, the five girls were from a wide variety of races.
There was a Fox Race sub-human with a wagging, fluffy tail; a member of the Feather Race with white wings sprouting from her back; a Sea Siren half-blood with fine scales at the corners of her eyes; and finally, a pair of cute, sweet-faced Half-Elf twins.
"Welcome, my lord."
"We will be attending to your needs tonight."
Seeing Lance walk in, the five girls lifted their skirts in unison and performed a flawless curtsy, their voices as sweet as honey.
’What the hell is going on?!’
Lance roared internally. ’Has the Veterans’ Hospital in White River City become this corrupt?’
’If I still thought this was just standard arranged lodging after stepping in here, I’d have to be a complete idiot.’
He had no idea what kind of stories that Records Officer named Vance had cooked up in his head.
To compensate for his supposed "mistake," not only had Vance promised Enchanted Equipment, but he had also arranged for this ridiculously ostentatious suite and even sent over a whole row of charming sub-human maids.
’Most importantly, how did this Vance guy know I like sub-humans? How could he possibly tell?’
In truth, how could Lance have known that the men of the Pandragon Royal Family who possessed the Red Dragon Bloodline were historically famous for their vigorous energy and amorous natures.
To properly serve this lost highness, Vance had spared no expense, transferring these most well-behaved maids from the most high-class establishment in the city.
