Who Says I'm Not a Proper Adventurer?
Chapter 338: Confronting the Faceless God
Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Confronting the Faceless God
At this moment, the dark red fissures in the sky were growing more numerous and denser, as if the entire space could collapse at any moment.
The Light of the Evil God cast its rays over an ever-widening area.
"I can’t stay here for long!"
Lance immediately realized the danger of his situation.
He promptly summoned his panel to inspect the effects of his title, which had just transformed after being steeped in the stream of light.
[Red Dragon Wood Master/Red Star (Current Legend Capacity: 6)]
[Basic Attribute Bonus: Spirit +3, Constitution +2]
[Exclusive Trait 1: Torch Scroll: Human Will Over Heaven]
[Exclusive Trait 2: Human King’s Phase]
[Exclusive Trait 3: Hundred Crafts Convergence]
’It actually has three special abilities!’
Lance was astonished.
Even a top-tier gold title would be considered incredibly lucky to roll two traits.
And just by looking at the names of his three traits, he knew they were anything but ordinary.
Lance quickly scanned the detailed description for the first ability, [Torch Scroll: Human Will Over Heaven].
After reading it, he was completely and utterly shocked.
To summarize it in one sentence:
Burn the accumulated Tinder of humanity to create a true miracle!
Note:
This was a true "miracle"!
Not the "Miracle’s Afterglow" created by a great feat.
This was something far more wondrous!
However, just as Lance was about to ponder how he might use these three abilities in the future, the final settlement ceremony for the "Sealing King of Split Land" in this space steadfastly continued according to its predetermined procedure.
BZZZZ!
With a deep hum, the platinum ground before Lance, which was covered in disgusting tentacles, suddenly began to roil violently.
Immediately after,
a massive amount of dark red Chaos Ether erupted madly from the ground like a fountain.
This viscous Ether Energy quickly intertwined and solidified in midair.
Soon,
it formed a wide, crimson staircase dozens of meters long right before Lance’s eyes.
This dark red hue symbolized the bloody historical backdrop that had forcibly triggered the settlement of the Earth-Sundering Monarchy.
[Crimson Rebellion].
The crimson staircase extended deep into the void.
Then, in midair, it split into three paths like the branches of a tree.
Each led to one of three black stone altars floating at the end.
[Commencing final settlement phase...]
[As the sole victorious king in the "Earth-Sundering Monarchy" ritual,]
[You are qualified to inherit the historical legacy left behind by the failed rebel of that era.]
[Special Notice: The three items displayed below are all "Unique Treasures," solidified by the rules of the Underground City and condensed from the true historical concepts of that time!]
[The Treasure chooses its master; it cannot be obtained by force.]
[Only one who is a perfect match may take it from the altar!]
SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
Lance watched as three dazzling meteors suddenly broke away from the roiling, dark red aurora in the sky.
They streaked across the void, trailing long tails of fire.
They landed with great precision, coming to a steady stop in the center of the three black altars.
The light faded,
revealing the true forms of the three items within.
’There really are three Treasures!’
A Treasure designated as "Unique" would absolutely cause a sensation in the outside world.
Lance stood at the bottom of the staircase, raised his head, and looked in the three directions.
He first looked toward the leftmost altar.
In the center of that altar rested a dark red cape.
Lance glanced at it but didn’t feel much of a connection.
He turned his gaze to the tallest altar in the middle.
There, rested an enormous, round egg, so large it would reach an adult’s waist!
The giant egg’s shell had the rough texture of grayish-black rock, making it look like a massive fossil.
But on closer inspection, one could see that between the cracks in the rough rock, streams of dark red light, as hot as magma, were slowly flowing, as if some terrifying life form was gestating within.
’Don’t tell me... this is some kind of companion pet egg?’
Lance guessed to himself.
Finally,
he cast his gaze toward the rightmost altar, the one that looked the most unremarkable.
The moment he saw clearly what lay upon that altar,
Lance’s pupils contracted violently.
He even shot up from his throne uncontrollably!
On that altar,
a huge, extravagantly shaped longbow floated silently.
The entire bow’s limbs were a ghastly, oppressive white, the color of bone.
If one looked closer, they would discover that the bow’s limbs were actually constructed from human vertebrae, linked tightly together and forcibly bent into the shape of a bow by some cruel method!
And at both ends of the bone limbs,
a black thread as fine as a strand of hair was stretched taut, serving as the bowstring.
The instant Lance saw this White Bone Longbow,
his consciousness seemed to be captured by some kind of power.
His eyes became vacant.
He was like a marionette being controlled,
slowly walking up the crimson staircase, one step at a time.
He headed straight for the rightmost altar.
During this process,
Lance was completely unaware
that high above in the great hall,
viscous threads of blood, as fine as ox hair and emitting a pungent, foul stench,
were silently dripping from above like a fine drizzle.
These bloody threads landed on Lance’s shoulders and clothes, accumulating more and more.
But Lance, lost in a daze, seemed to have completely lost his Perception, oblivious to it all.
Until,
like a walking corpse, he reached the edge of the altar
and stopped.
He slowly extended his right hand.
By now, his hand was covered in the viscous, crimson threads, looking as if it had been soaked in blood.
His fingers curled slightly, involuntarily reaching for the body of the White Bone Longbow.
Just as his fingertips were a dangerous few centimeters away from the bone,
BOOM!
The [Foreigner] Source Material hidden deep within Lance’s soul,
sensing the invasion of a fatal external threat, reacted like a feral cat whose tail had been stepped on.
It counterattacked!
[WARNING!!!]
[Source Material: Foreigner has detected a high-dimensional spiritual pollution invasion!]
Along with a sharp pain in the depths of his mind, like being stabbed by a needle,
Lance’s entire body shuddered violently.
He was jolted awake as if from a dream!
He sucked in a sharp breath, his back instantly drenched in a cold sweat.
He looked at his right hand, which had been just moments from touching the great bow.
He looked at the dense, writhing bloody threads on his hand.
Lance immediately understood what had happened.
He snapped his arm back, suppressed his nausea, and frantically surged the Ether Energy within his body.
WHOOSH!
A scorching, silver-red flame ignited on his arm, instantly burning the threads clinging to his skin to ash.
After doing all this,
Lance slowly raised his head.
His gaze followed the viscous bloody threads, which were cascading down from above like a waterfall, all the way up.
At the end of his line of sight,
at some unknown point,
a colossal figure over ten meters tall had appeared.
A black cloak billowed in the wind.
The bloody threads were dripping down from it.
Lance looked up.
The horrifying, featureless monster was also lowering its head slightly.
Its face—like a slab of pale, fleshy membrane, as if the front half had been smoothly sliced off by a sharp blade—
was facing Lance below.
Although it had no eyes,
Lance could clearly feel
a gaze fixed upon him.
The two—
or rather, the man and the god—
shared a bizarre, silent stare across a distance of several dozen meters.
DRIP.
A single drop of the viscous bloody thread peeled off from the faceless being.
Pulled by gravity, it crossed the dozens of meters.
It landed precisely on Lance’s cheek.
Ice-cold, and piercing to the bone.
