Chapter 183: Chapter 128: Blood Eye Blade! A Living Extraordinary Weapon! Parasitism in Progress

Chen Chong didn’t dare to delay and quickly shut the door of the Forging Furnace tight.

He had no idea how long this forging would take. Based on past experience, it certainly wouldn’t be finished quickly; it would take at least a few hours.

Piled next to the Forging Furnace were snake skin, Snake Scale, and some bones.

Chen Chong ignored them for the time being and walked toward the fishpond in the yard.

The fishpond looked the same as ever, a layer of green algae floating on its surface.

After he tossed in a bucket of grass, some herbivorous fish immediately broke the surface and began to feed.

The water’s surface was too murky for Chen Chong to see the condition of the fish below clearly.

However, as long as no fish were floating belly-up, it meant they were mostly all right.

As for the fishes’ growth rate, it shouldn’t be too slow, thanks to the accelerating effect of the B-Level fishpond.

It was normal for bigger fish to occasionally eat smaller ones. The total weight of the fish population was most likely increasing steadily.

The fishpond’s capacity had now essentially reached its limit.

Putting any more fish in would make it overcrowded.

From the last few times he stocked it, there were at least seven or eight hundred pounds of fish in the pond, and the ecosystem was still relatively balanced.

Unless he could get a higher-level Fishpond Card in the future, any new fish would either have to be eaten immediately or he’d have to control the stocking numbers.

The fishpond was probably the most stable food source at home.

The wild chickens and ducks were on track to become the second.

As for the crops in the fields, it wasn’t time for large-scale planting yet; they still needed further cultivation.

After getting everything in order, Chen Chong felt a bone-deep exhaustion.

He lay down on his bed, and the Tiger Striped Dog immediately hopped back into its own bed beside him.

Meanwhile, the Blade-Limbed Assassin Insect crouched silently and unmoving in the shadows of a corner. If you weren’t told it was there, you would never have guessed at its existence.

The two pets quietly stood guard over Chen Chong.

As soon as he lay down and felt the soft blankets, a wave of drowsiness washed over him.

Chen Chong felt his eyelids growing heavy, and soon he closed them, sinking into a deep sleep...

...

As time trickled by, Chen Chong slowly opened his eyes.

He looked out the window. The sky had already grown dim; it wouldn’t be long before night fell.

’I slept this long...?’

It had been noon when he got home. Judging by the sky now, Chen Chong estimated he had slept for at least four or five hours.

Feeling the abundant energy within him, it was clear he had fully recovered.

But that was only thanks to his rapid recovery. The others—Xu Jun, Zhang Meng, and Zhong Fang—would probably sleep until midnight before waking up.

It didn’t matter, though. There was nothing urgent to do. They had been exhausted all last night and deserved a good rest.

Chen Chong didn’t plan on disturbing them. Besides, he had a few things of his own that needed taking care of...

As Chen Chong rolled out of bed, the Tiger Striped Dog at his side saw him and quickly stood up, its tail wagging as it followed its master.

The Blade-Limbed Assassin Insect, hidden in the shadows of the corner, moved across the ceiling, keeping pace with his every step...

The first thing he did after getting up was walk to the incubator. He opened the door to check on the few eggs incubating inside.

The eggs showed no change. He closed the door and turned toward the Extraordinary Forging Furnace.

The flames inside the furnace were no longer raging as they had been; they had calmed.

And there, in front of the Forging Furnace, a long, dark-red blade lay quietly on the ground.

’The forging was a success?’

Chen Chong was delighted and quickly picked it up.

The first thing he felt as he gripped it was a cool sensation seeping into his palm, as if he were touching the skin of a python.

Though cool, it wasn’t unpleasantly cold. On the contrary, it had a certain indescribable comfort...

Feeling its substantial weight, Chen Chong carefully examined the long blade.

Based on appearance alone, this blade was worlds apart from his previous Tang Blade.

Even though both were long blades, the overall texture and details were completely different...

The blade itself was clearly longer, and so was its scabbard.

If the previous Tang Blade was about a meter long from pommel to tip, this new one was a full meter and a half!

The curve was more pronounced, and even through the scabbard, he could tell the blade had become more slender.

The once pure-black scabbard was now a dark crimson.

It was etched with layers of carved patterns that felt pleasantly textured in his hand.

A closer look revealed the patterns resembled a coiled snake, but it was missing its head.

And the missing part was exactly where it connected to the hilt...

A jet-black cord was wrapped tightly around the hilt, identical to the one on the old Tang Blade, only now the color was deeper and the wrap was denser.

Chen Chong didn’t know if the Extraordinary Forging Furnace had simply preserved this part or had also imbued it with Extraordinary Power, and he just hadn’t discovered its purpose yet.

Next came the most important moment.

No matter how beautiful the scabbard and hilt, the most important part of a sword was still the blade itself!

With a pull of his hands...

The forged long blade was revealed.

Chen Chong froze.

The blade wasn’t the silver-black it should have been. It was a searing, brilliant red!

Moreover, the body of the blade was covered in layer upon layer of dark, scale-like patterns.

What was most surprising was at the joint where the hilt met the blade; a thumb-sized, blood-red gem was embedded on each side.

In the center of each gem, a thin, black, vertical slit was visible.

It was identical to the pupil of a Blood-tooth Python!
