Chapter 287: Chapter 170: Extraordinary Beehive! Taming the Fierce Poisonous Bees! Suddenly Understanding the Bloodthirsty Vine King

[Reminder: The ability will consume the user’s stamina. As the user’s strength increases, the defensive power will also gradually improve.]

Chen Chong frowned slightly after reading about the Petrification Card.

He’d had his suspicions when he first saw the Ability Card’s name. Now, after reading the description, he was completely certain. This card... was just a lesser version of Rock Body Transformation.

In every respect, it was a watered-down version of Rock Body Transformation, with the added fatal flaw of rendering the user immobile.

The Petrification ability was even a bit worse than Xu Jun’s turtle defense.

At least the latter only required all fours on the ground. Even if you had to crawl around in an undignified posture, you could still meet the ability’s conditions and wouldn’t be stuck so passively in one spot.

’Chen Chong figured the card’s defensive power was probably far inferior to the turtle defense, too...’

"This must be a B- Level ability, the absolute bottom of the B-Level, right?"

Chen Chong muttered to himself and put the Petrification Card away.

’Even though he didn’t plan on using it, it was still an Ability Card—a scarce resource these days.’

’Whether he gave it to a core team member or saved it as a top-tier reward for the group, it was an excellent option...’

There wasn’t much to say about the third fence card.

However, its B-Level grade meant the area it enclosed and the growth acceleration it provided far surpassed that of a C-Class fence.

Coincidentally, Xu Jun had already used a few Vacant Land Cards to expand the bathroom area considerably. Chen Chong went there at once and used the B-Level fence card.

Seeing that its area vastly surpassed the other fences and cages, Chen Chong unhesitatingly moved the doe, which had been penned with the wild chickens and ducks, into the new enclosure.

This way, the enclosure would have more than enough space, even if the doe gave birth or if they later captured wild mountain goats to raise alongside it.

Gazing at the doe’s distinctly swollen abdomen, Chen Chong knew it wouldn’t be long before she gave birth.

Placing her in this B-Level enclosure, with its accompanying growth acceleration effect, would also move up the delivery date significantly.

The day they would have two new fawns in their home was not far off...

Since he was already up, Chen Chong took the opportunity to check on the other animals in the bathroom.

The wild chickens and ducks were the same as ever. Aside from two new eggs in the nest, nothing was out of the ordinary.

Meanwhile, the wild rabbits in their cage were growing rapidly. The kits from before were now fully grown, and the pregnant doe’s belly had become prominent. Like the deer, she was clearly about to give birth.

Combined with the two wild rabbits Wang Biao had added when he returned today, the rabbit population in the cage had reached an incredible number.

It had reached twelve in total!

That number might not seem like much, but one mustn’t forget this was the Primitive Jungle.

Going from zero to twelve captured wild rabbits was already a remarkable haul.

Next, Chen Chong went to the living room to check on the mud pond and the farmland.

The mud pond was the same as ever. Other than the lush Vermilion Fruit growing above it, the murky water made it nearly impossible to spot the crabs, loaches, eels, or various carnivorous fish within.

The same was true for the fishpond; the various aquatic ecosystems within had reached a near-equilibrium.

Aside from when they surfaced to breathe, filter plankton, or eat feed, their forms were almost never seen.

’But not seeing them was the best possible outcome.’

’After all, if you could see fish too often, it either meant the pond was low on oxygen, or they were doing the backstroke...’

The farmland, on the other hand, was a different story. Since he’d used the golden fertilizer, the plants had grown to an incredible degree.

Even after the fruit had been picked, the remaining stems and roots were exceptionally sturdy.

But most of the stalks needed to be cleared out. Chen Chong planned to wait until he had sorted through the seeds from the fruit, then he would plant a new batch.

’He was very curious. Since the golden fertilizer had made the fruits so massive, would their genes have changed?’

’Would a second planting yield the same incredible results?’

After a quick check of his surroundings, Chen Chong returned to his room.

It was still dark outside the window, with a long time to go before dawn, but he didn’t go to sleep right away.

’After all... besides the daily settlement, there was one very important thing he hadn’t checked: the daily intelligence report.’

[C-Class Intel: The Parasites within the school have been completely purged. All infiltrating Bloodthirsty Vines have been eliminated.]

[B-Level Intel: Today is the final day before the rainy season begins. The season will not be a long one, but it will last for at least ten days. Initially, for the first three days, animals will continue to forage outside. As the rain grows heavier, animals will hide in their nests and avoid going out.]

[B-Level Intel: A large number of the Bloodthirsty Vine King’s offshoots have been eliminated. Due to the resulting backlash and other interference, its control over the Stone Claw Eagle has been significantly weakened, allowing the eagle to escape.]

After reading the three pieces of intel, Chen Chong was stunned.

There wasn’t much to say about the first piece of intel. After he had finished killing the Parasites outside the faculty apartments, Chen Chong already knew that, aside from the initial batch in the library, all other Parasites in the school had likely been purged.

But the second piece of intel...

Previous intel had already hinted at the coming rainy season. He hadn’t expected today’s report to announce it was the very last day before it began.

The rainy season was definitely not a good thing for their current situation.

Even though the intel stated the rainy season would be quite short—much shorter than Chen Chong had anticipated—it was still not a good sign.
