Chapter 298: Chapter 175: The Hunting Group’s Harvest! Resources for the Capable! Disbanding and Reorganizing the Incapable
"President Zhong, have you been optimizing the details of the points system all night?"
Jia Wen was stunned, even forgetting to wave his feather fan.
Just the day before, he and Zhong Fang had been utterly exhausted after assigning roles to each team member and establishing the initial points system rules.
Even though they were both experts in this area, working nonstop for a full day and night was too much to bear.
But to create the team’s rules from scratch and get them to a preliminary operational state in just a day and a night was no small feat. The result was far beyond their expectations.
Jia Wen had gone back, collapsed into bed, and slept the whole night through, planning to gradually optimize the remaining details over the next few days.
But he never expected to come in today and see Zhong Fang still sitting in the conference room...
’So after pulling an all-nighter, he actually worked for another whole day to completely optimize every detail of the points system?’
Jia Wen was completely floored. He really wanted to say...
’Even if you’re a tryhard, you can’t work yourself to death.’
Zhong Fang nodded slightly, his expression already a bit dazed.
Clearly, drafting the fine details of the points system had drained all his energy. Even his reactions were a few beats slower than everyone else’s.
Chen Chong also had a strange expression. He knew from Jia Wen that Zhong Fang had been busy with him for a day and a night straight.
Jia Wen had gone home, slept, and woken up, yet Zhong Fang was still here...
’Is he really pushing himself that hard?’
He shifted his gaze to the papers.
They detailed item after item, with their corresponding point values.
There were even numerous traces of revisions and additions.
The rules were incredibly intricate and detailed, covering everything from the points members earned for their contributions to the points required to redeem items from the warehouse.
It even specified the channels for the various logistics teams to earn points, as well as how many points the hunting teams would reasonably get for different types of prey.
Chen Chong glanced over it quickly, committing most of the point values and item prices to memory.
Among the items available for redemption, the most notable were instant noodles priced at 10 points and a pound of Blood-tooth Python meat for 100 points.
For hunting team members earning points, the easiest items to acquire—wild vegetables, fruits, and various edible mushrooms—were only worth 10 points, the same as a pack of instant noodles.
If they brought back hunted meat with no breeding value, classified as "dead meat," it was worth 20 to 50 points per pound.
The exact value depended on the prey’s culinary value.
For example, a pound of snake meat, a pound of frog, and a pound of rabbit meat—while the weight was the same, their meat content and nutritional value were worlds apart, so the points awarded were obviously different.
Capturing a complete, live small animal would earn 150 points.
Small animals with high breeding value, like wild chickens or ducks, were worth 300 points.
Various medium to large live creatures were worth anywhere from 500 to over 3,000 points.
Although the sheer number of items for earning and spending points was complex and a bit dazzling to Chen Chong, it was clear from looking at a few examples that the system was extremely well-balanced.
It hadn’t been thrown together haphazardly.
At the very least, the points awarded for prey and the points required for warehouse items were very well-balanced and reasonable.
It wouldn’t create an imbalance where members earned too few points for their contributions while the items in the warehouse cost too many.
Chen Chong looked at Zhong Fang, who was utterly haggard, as if he hadn’t slept at all, and felt both pleased and exasperated.
That Zhong Fang... when they first met, Chen Chong always felt there was something a bit odd about the way he spoke and acted.
But after getting to know him, he’d found the man to be quite reliable.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have recruited him directly when forming the team.
He had even brought him into the core membership after the team was successfully established.
Now, it was even more apparent...
’His level of dedication puts me, the team leader, to shame.’
"Zhong Fang, you’ve worked hard, but..."
"Go get some sleep. I’m worried if you keep this up, we won’t see you tomorrow."
Zhong Fang stared blankly for a few seconds, then nodded slightly, before shaking his head.
"I’m not tired. I feel full of energy. There are still a few details about the points I haven’t figured out. I’ll go to sleep after I’ve sorted them out."
As soon as he said that, everyone present looked at him strangely.
Jia Wen blurted out that the man had worked himself silly.
Chen Chong’s face darkened.
’He’s really pulled so many all-nighters he’s started hallucinating.’
’He’s starting to defy biology!’
’If I let him keep working, forget not seeing him tomorrow—we might not even see him through tonight.’
Without another word, Chen Chong said directly to Wang Biao, "Carry him out of here. Make sure he goes to sleep. If he doesn’t, you can use the physical sleep-induction method!"
"Yes, Sir!" Wang Biao nodded and immediately moved toward Zhong Fang.
Zhong Fang was dumbfounded.
’Physical sleep-induction method?’
’That doesn’t mean knocking me out with a punch to the head, does it?’
"Brother Chong, that’s not necessary..."
"It’s very necessary. Wang Biao, hurry up."
"Yes, Sir!"
And just like that, under Zhong Fang’s resentful gaze, he was carried downstairs by Wang Biao...
Before he was out of earshot, Chen Chong added, "Zhong, this is for your own good. I’ve seen everything you’ve done for the team. When you wake up, I’ll have a gift for you as a reward."
Zhong Fang was already out of sight, but his voice drifted up from below.
"Then I’ll thank you in advance! The hunting team’s harvest report from yesterday is still on the table, don’t forget to look at it, and also..."
