Why Are the Psychos Obsessed with a Mere NPC?

Chapter 182 - 181: My Master, What’s Wrong With You

  • Next Chapter

The very picture of cuteness in the Soul Beast World.

Soft and adorable.

Jian Yu was completely powerless against it. "Where is your master?"

"Not enough~" The Little Flying Bear perked up its round ears. "More. The Little Flying Bear wants more."

It twitched its pink nose, sniffing as it relentlessly chased Jian Yu’s fingers, demanding more.

’Master? Master can wait.’

’This is the Little Flying Bear’s time now.’

"Thank you, big sister." The Little Flying Bear felt so comfortable it wanted to roll around, completely lost in the sensation.

Jian Yu lowered her gaze, raising a hand to press against the Little Flying Bear’s back.

Wisps of faint smoke curled up as a rich Yulan Fragrance burst from her heart.

Worried the scent would spread and affect others, Jian Yu had practiced controlling it many times in private.

Now, she could basically control the speed and range of the fragrance’s diffusion.

Sometimes, afraid she might forget Ling Yanzhi and the others’ Threshold Devouring Period, she would also use Fuyun Red to create a bond, just as Shi Zhao had told her.

This way, regardless of whether she concealed her scent, they would be able to smell it as long as they were close.

At first, she didn’t know this would happen after forming the bond.

It was only after noticing Pei Yin’s strange expression and recalling his unusual loss of composure on the day they first met that Jian Yu couldn’t help but ask Shi Zhao about it.

Shi Zhao seemed very busy lately. He always replied to her messages late at night.

Jian Yu was lost in thought, her fingers sinking just so into the Little Flying Bear’s soft fur.

She slowly stroked along its soft fur, her touch gentle, her breathing even softening a little.

"Mmm-hmm~" The Little Flying Bear scrambled up with its little legs, nuzzling her palm.

"Alright now." Jian Yu’s fingertips traced a slow circle over its fluffy tufts of fur. "I have things to do today, so you..."

The Little Flying Bear grew anxious. "Master, Master hasn’t gotten comfortable yet."

It pawed at the lace trim on Jian Yu’s chest with its fleshy paws, gently pulling its head back to the side.

"Master is in the lecture hall! Go see him, please go see him~"

Jian Yu was also a bit reluctant to let go of the little furball in her arms, so she readily agreed, "Okay."

She glanced back at the auditorium one last time, then turned and left, holding the Little Flying Bear, which had curled into a fluffy ball.

Her skirt brushed against the white steps, kicking up a gentle breeze.

Si Xu appeared in the air above the auditorium. He looked down disdainfully, his long eyelashes half-lowered, unable to conceal the frantic jealousy and anger spilling from his eyes.

His gaze shifted to the right, and he saw Sheng Yue.

His feathered wings lifted slightly.

The main doors of the auditorium burst open with a BOOM.

Si Xu’s expression was impassive. "A spar."

Sheng Yue turned around, his eyes showing no ripple of emotion. "Not fighting."

Si Xu flew down. "You are not to go looking for her!"

One white, one gold, their soul shields each took up half the space.

Two white figures became entangled. Amid the chaos, the white halo of light erupted with a faint golden glow.

Pei Yin was passing by. "What’s with the madness? You’re blocking my way!"

Ting Ying’s sharp talons tore through the soul shields.

"Whoa—" Pei Yin couldn’t open his eyes.

A pale cyan light flashed in his eyes.

Pei Yin opened his eyes. "Hurry up and put that away, you almost blinded me."

The light from the Soul Power receded, dimming.

Si Xu’s gold-trimmed, Yuge-patterned interstellar formal uniform was torn to rags, its edges frayed and stained with stardust and scratches.

Sheng Yue’s white and blue uniform remained crisp and immaculate, but his hair was a mess, his insignia was gone, and a fresh, shallow scar was forming on his jaw, oozing a faint trail of blood.

Pei Yin frowned. "People from the other academies haven’t left yet. Don’t you think you two chiefs look a little pathetic dressed up as beggars?"

He went up and patted Sheng Yue’s shoulder.

He kicked up a cloud of dust, choking and coughing.

"I’m serious, can’t you two pick a better place to fight? COUGH COUGH... When you go out, don’t tell anyone you know me."

Pei Yin moved away from Sheng Yue, a look of disgust on his face. "Why were you fighting?"

A flicker of confusion crossed Sheng Yue’s brow. "I don’t know."

Si Xu said breezily, "He was going to look for Jian Yu."

Pei Yin froze for a second. "Wait, why are you so jealous?! Neither Ayue nor Yan Zhi said he couldn’t go see our treasure, so what gives you the right!"

Si Xu stated with sound reasoning, "It’s fine if Jian Yu looks for him. But him looking for Jian Yu? Not allowed."

’His Yuge saw everything.’

’Jian Yu was willing to leave with the Little Flying Bear. He could tolerate that.’

’Sheng Yue didn’t get an invitation from Jian Yu. Chasing after her would be forcing her.’

Si Xu turned his profile to Pei Yin. "Why does Ling Yanzhi allow you all to exist?"

He understood Ling Yanzhi. "It’s because Jian Yu was willing. That’s why Ayue could join."

Si Xu’s eyes scanned Pei Yin’s enchanting face. "You succeeded in seducing Jian Yu, that’s why they turn a blind eye."

Pei Yin was flabbergasted. "For real? I thought it was because my medical skills are superb and I negotiated great terms."

He touched his own face, completely unaware of the lethality of his pretty-boy looks. "’This face... succeeded in seducing her?’"

Sheng Yue’s lips pressed into a tight line, his expression tense.

He asked coldly, "Then what about you?"

Pei Yin lowered his hand. "Me? Oh, you’re asking Si Xu. He got his position by force and plunder. See, your question was completely unnecessary."

Sheng Yue lowered his head in thought.

Si Xu’s eyes were mocking. "That was called mutual affection, a match made in heaven, guided by the gods."

For the first time, he revealed this side of himself to his brothers. "You don’t understand the first thing about romantic fun. Jian Yu likes my roguish side."

Pei Yin: "..."

’...Noted.’

Sheng Yue: "..."

’...Deleted.’

...

Following the Little Flying Bear’s directions, Jian Yu walked through the faint light and shadows of the corridor, step by step, until she reached the door of the lecture hall.

Her identity was verified, but she didn’t enter immediately.

The Little Flying Bear lounged in Jian Yu’s arms, its back pressed against her, a look of pure bliss on its face.

It watched her slyly. "Master is inside. He almost fainted from the pain. I didn’t know what to do, so I had no choice but to find big sister for help."

Jian Yu’s palm rested on its fluffy coat, and she gently kneaded the soft fur to soothe it. "It’s okay. I’ll go in and see."

Xu Jianjuan’s lab was very close, so even with only twenty minutes left, she didn’t need to rush.

Still, Jian Yu sent a message in advance, saying she might be a little late.

The Awakener’s lecture hall was vast and empty. There were no desks or chairs, only a few large machines.

Inside, one could smell the scent of cold air and feel the distinct, fluctuating pressure of a Soul Beast.

She looked around but couldn’t find any sign of Ji Shiyin.

Jian Yu looked down at the leg-swinging Little Flying Bear. "Where’s your master?"

The Little Flying Bear raised its short chin, looking lost.

It lifted a paw and scratched its round ear. "Isn’t he in here?"

’It’s probably not an Illusion Realm,’ Jian Yu pondered. ’It feels different from Si Xu’s.’

Jian Yu closed her eyes. A pink mist gently covered her eyelids like a thin layer of rosy gauze.

In the hazy, enchanting mist of light, Ji Shiyin was sitting in a corner, his head tilted back against the wall. His eyes were tightly shut, and his forehead was drenched in a cold sweat.

One of his long legs was bent. His uniform was in disarray, revealing half of a pale, slender wrist.

Between calling him senior or Chief, Jian Yu chose the latter. "Chief Ji?"

She walked in quickly. The pink mist she hadn’t yet retracted gathered into a cloud and enveloped Ji Shiyin.

Color returned to Ji Shiyin’s pale face.

He squinted slightly, his eyes curving into a gentle arc. "What a coincidence, junior."

The Little Flying Bear reluctantly left Jian Yu’s embrace.

It pounced into Ji Shiyin’s arms. [Weren’t we just pretending? My master, what’s wrong with you? WAHHHH!!!!]
