Why Are the Psychos Obsessed with a Mere NPC?

Chapter 210 - 209: I Am Sheng Yue

Jian Yu pressed her lips together and lowered her head.

In truth, she still had five more.

They were all crafted by Pei Yin using a large number of Defense Beast Crystals.

Jian Yu didn’t want to just give them away to anyone.

Fortunately, no one pressed the issue.

After a moment, everyone’s attention was drawn to Wang Hu, who was stuffing his face.

Wang Hu noticed people looking at him. He looked up, his mouth greasy, and said, "What?"

He caught sight of the two Zhang sisters drinking porridge. "Where’d you get porridge?"

Jian Yu thought for a moment, then took out all sorts of dishes.

Her large eyes were clear, and she spoke slowly. "I have plenty more. We’re all teammates, so we can share."

’It hurts a little that I can’t make money from this.’

’Do I really have to make friends with them?’

As she distributed the food, the team’s dynamic clearly became more harmonious.

Her ears were filled with all kinds of praise and flattery. One moment they were saying her reputation as a Healer was well-deserved, the next they were calling her beautiful and kind-hearted.

Jian Yu pursed her lips. ’It doesn’t seem to hurt so much anymore.’

’I feel a little giddy. No wonder big bosses love being flattered.’

She received a notification on her bracelet. Jian Yu opened it and saw: Pink Mist’s soul domain value +5.

Jian Yu stroked Yin Jiu’s back, her gaze sweeping thoughtfully across everyone’s faces.

’Liking value from 20,000 people +10.’

’There are only ten people here.’

’Is the leveling up faster, or is it related to the degree of affection?’

’Most likely the latter.’

A low, restrained sound rumbled in Sheng Yue’s throat.

A tingle went through Jian Yu’s ears.

Sitting right next to Sheng Yue, it was hard not to hear.

She looked down at the Little Snow Leopard, whose face was blissful, and quickly let go, not daring to stroke it again.

Teacher Hu returned, braving the cold wind. "Everyone, be careful tomorrow. Team 6’s supplies were stolen. The thief is likely not from our academy."

Sheng Yue’s expression grew serious, and he frowned. "Besides us, the only other people who applied to enter the Ultimate Eye this time were from Emperor Wolf Star Academy."

Teacher Hu’s gaze swept over Jian Yu.

He was silent for two seconds. "Then it was probably a student from Emperor Wolf Star Academy."

Yan Yu is a key candidate being cultivated by Emperor Wolf Star. First, because of his status as a 2S Awakener, and second, because his grandfather is Emperor Wolf Star’s only Level 3S Awakener.

Level 3S Awakeners are extremely rare; you can count them on one hand.

Yan Yu was crippled, his status—dead or alive—is unknown, and it’s inextricably linked to Jian Yu.

Emperor Wolf Star wouldn’t dare make a direct move openly, but it’s hard to say they won’t play dirty tricks in the shadows.

They might have even deliberately scheduled this mission to coincide with our academy’s.

Teacher Hu wiped his face. "In any case, everyone stay vigilant for the next few days."

He’d finally gotten a promotion and a raise, finally been upgraded from a team leader to a supervising teacher. He absolutely couldn’t let anything go wrong during the mission.

"Team 6 wants to merge with our team and share supplies. In exchange, they’re willing to hand over a portion of the resources they acquire to you all."

Teacher Hu hadn’t agreed yet. He asked for their opinion, "What are your thoughts?"

Sheng Yue’s thin lips pressed into a line, his jaw tight.

His voice was deep and cold. "The academy has no precedent for this."

Teacher Hu hesitated. "But Team 6..."

Sheng Yue looked at Jian Yu, his expression hard.

Yin Jiu’s tone was cheerful. "Baby, money’s coming."

Jian Yu blinked her eyes. Her lashes fluttered slowly, giving her a dazed look.

Yin Jiu stood up and shook its fur. Its body was round and chubby, and its face looked as if it were embedded with sapphires—two beautiful blue eyes.

It patted its paw gently on Jian Yu’s leg, full of vigor. "Why share supplies? My baby can sell them some! And, uh, the money... they have to give lots and lots of it."

The air froze.

Teacher Hu was confused.

Zhang Ziyue briefly explained what had just happened.

Teacher Hu was speechless.

He asked for Jian Yu’s thoughts. "You can just decide for yourself. No pressure. If it really comes down to it, we can just have their team return to the academy first."

Jian Yu’s fingers rubbed her Space Ring. "Teacher, I can provide the supplies."

Yin Jiu’s big eyes darted around as it cut in, "My baby can’t give it away for free!"

It would stand by its baby, unconditionally and without reservation.

Teacher Hu mused, "How about this: each of them transfers one hundred thousand Star Coins to you, and during the mission, you get a twenty-percent share of the resources they obtain. How does that sound?"

This was actually Team 6’s original offer: one hundred thousand Star Coins plus a twenty-percent share of resources. The only difference was that initially, it was for sharing supplies, not buying them outright.

Jian Yu suppressed her delight. "I can do that."

Teacher Hu, who had come in a hurry, left in a hurry, running off to Team 6 with a pile of supplies to negotiate.

Jian Yu’s gaze shifted, and she noticed everyone looked worried.

Lu Yi frowned. "Why would people from Emperor Wolf Star steal our things? Doesn’t that mean we have enemies both in the open and in the shadows?"

Yan Xu sighed. "The people from Emperor Wolf Star were never the reasonable type."

Yan Yi deeply agreed. "We were framed and driven out by Emperor Wolf Star back then. If we hadn’t Awakened and come to the Imperial Capital Star, Yan Yu might have even tried to hunt us down and eliminate us completely."

Jian Yu lowered her gaze, her lashes hiding the emotion in her eyes.

She suspected that Emperor Wolf Academy’s actions were related to Yan Yu.

’I just don’t know what Yan Yu’s situation is now.’

’I hope he’s already dead.’

’If he wasn’t, she wouldn’t mind sending him on his way.’

...

At night, the Ultimate Eye was even more grim than during the day.

Before Teacher Hu returned, everyone distractedly lay down to rest.

Jian Yu activated the bracelet on her other wrist.

Overall Team Rankings

First Place: Team 15.

Second Place: Team 9.

Third Place: Team 6.

Jian Yu switched to the individual rankings.

First Place: Zhang Qin (Team 15)

Second Place: Lu Yi (Team 15)

Third Place: Mu Yunzhou (Team 6)

Fourth Place: Jian Yu (Team 15)

Jian Yu closed the bracelet as soon as she saw her name, not bothering to look any further down.

The bed was long. The men and women slept separately, with a board between them.

To make it convenient for Teacher Hu to rest when he returned, everyone automatically left the rightmost sleeping spot for him.

Sheng Yue had disappeared after eating, his whereabouts unknown.

Jian Yu lay on the far left, her expression listless.

She bent her knees and kneaded her sore leg muscles.

’I miss Xi Yu a little.’

’If Xi Yu were here, he would have already skillfully found her legs by now and be massaging them carefully.’

’It’s been so long. Xi Yu might even hug her tightly, press his face into her neck, and take a deep, satisfied breath.’

After resting for three hours, Green Mist Energy +9.

It was too slow. Jian Yu had no choice but to hold a Beast Crystal to replenish her energy.

She hadn’t even collected all the Beast Crystals for the mission yet, but she had already used up more than twenty of the Low-level Beast Crystals in her Space Ring.

Jian Yu shifted her body gingerly, dangling her legs over the side of the wooden bed.

Her fingers brushed over her heart. She blocked the scent of the Pink Mist and converted it into a band of Green Mist in its Healing form, slowly covering her legs with it.

The Pink Mist was mainly for soothing. When converted to Green Mist, while its healing effect wasn’t as potent as the original Green Mist, it was still more useful than ordinary medicine or massagers.

Jian Yu let out a sigh of relief.

The red thread on her wrist throbbed.

Jian Yu closed her eyes, her expression completely placid.

’She knew that a certain Chairman, whose mind was full of propriety, integrity, and self-restraint, had returned.’

He stopped by the head of her bed but made no move.

Sheng Yue’s breathing was suppressed, his eyes hazy with drunkenness.

A series of glaring scenes bombarded his mind one after another.

Ling Yanzhi and Xi Yu, fighting and scrambling over her—Sheng Yue just felt a sense of loss.

Pei Yin, acting one way in public and another in private, getting ahead behind everyone’s backs—Sheng Yue was merely frustrated.

But Si Xu... a man that shameless... on what grounds did he also get a chance?

Sheng Yue’s breathing became ragged.

Jian Yu smelled the faint scent of alcohol.

She opened her eyes and saw a tall shadow suddenly loom over her, enveloping her completely.

His clothing style was buttoned-up and airtight. His long legs were covered, golden buttons fastened to the very top, not a trace of his slender neck exposed.

Conservative and restrained, yet it only served to better accentuate Sheng Yue’s perfect proportions.

Jian Yu’s fingers twitched, and her breathing fell out of rhythm.

She tried to sit up, but Sheng Yue seized her wrist, pinning it to the head of the bed.

She struggled twice, but he only gripped her tighter.

His fingers were long and slender, carrying a chill. Where their knuckles pressed together, there was an air of inappropriate intimacy.

Zhang Qin sat up, scratching his hair. "Who’s having a disco party? Quiet down!"

Jian Yu bit her lip, her heart racing.

’Why is he being so secretive?’

The Silver Nine Soul Shield appeared, muffling the sound.

"It’s me." Emboldened by the alcohol, Sheng Yue didn’t try to hide.

He whispered hoarsely in Jian Yu’s ear, "I’m Sheng Yue."

His tone was light and detached, his voice so cool it made one instinctively fall silent.

A restrained kiss landed on the corner of Jian Yu’s lips, then wandered from behind her ear to the side of her neck, carrying a searing heat.

Constrained, composed, self-possessed, temperate.

His movements were slow, as if savoring the scenery of a journey he was reluctant to end.

Jian Yu turned her head away, her eyelashes trembling softly.

Her fingertips, clutching the blanket, tightened slightly. "Chairman, what is the meaning of this?"
