Why Are the Psychos Obsessed with a Mere NPC?

Chapter 265 - 264: You Were Tricked Into Coming Here Too, Right?

  • Next Chapter

A head poked out of the window, cautiously looking left and right.

When he turned, showing the right side of his face, Jian Yu recognized him instantly.

It was Gu Qi.

’I didn’t expect him to come to Emperor Wolf Star after leaving Qiongji Mu.’

Gu Qi was a Low-level Semi-awakened. He couldn’t sense Sheng Yue’s Soul Power fluctuations, nor could he see the Soul Beast Cover.

He grabbed the curtain rope and began to slide down bit by bit.

Yin Jiu appeared in a flash.

It leaped into Jian Yu’s arms. "It’s him! The man who killed his captain, buried the body, and then wanted to pledge allegiance to you, Baby."

Jian Yu stroked Yin Jiu’s back. Hearing this, a glimmer of gossipy curiosity flashed in her eyes.

’To hear two bizarre stories about dead bodies in one day...’

’...was really something else.’

The round little Snow Leopard was soft and warm, and Jian Yu couldn’t bear to let go after stroking it several times.

Yang Zhang scurried up Xi Yu’s arm and nestled on top of Yin Jiu’s head.

Yin Jiu: "..."

Treating them equally, Jian Yu patted Yang Zhang’s big, pink head.

Xi Yu asked gloomily, "Pledge allegiance to Baby?"

’Red Snake didn’t tell me. Red Snake is useless.’

’I should have sent Yang Zhang instead.’

"Yup!" Yin Jiu ignored Yang Zhang, not making a fuss.

Without pausing, it rattled on, "His captain was harassing him, and he thought Baby was powerful, so he wanted to pledge his loyalty. Baby refused. Master and I sent him off from Qiongji Mu. When he went back, he happened to run into his captain, so he tricked the captain and buried him."

Halfway through, Yin Jiu paused, trying hard to remember. "Master, was there anything else? Oh, I remember now! The captain was Gu Qi’s brother-in-law, and the captain said that if he had a child, he’d let Gu Qi raise it."

It recounted the story with striking clarity and detail.

Jian Yu felt goosebumps rise on her skin and her scalp tingle.

She didn’t judge anyone’s views on love, but this was a genuine turn-off.

If it were her, she would have made that captain pay, one hundred percent.

Xi Yu only heard the first few sentences that included the word "Baby"; the rest went in one ear and out the other.

He gazed dazedly at Jian Yu’s large eyes, which seemed to catch the faint halo of light. "Baby, your eyes are so beautiful. They’re sparkling."

He scooted closer with a needy whine, pressing his arm tightly against Jian Yu’s shoulder.

Jian Yu raised a hand.

Xi Yu squatted down, pressed his face close, and nuzzled her cheek.

Jian Yu freed up her other hand, ruffling the wolf-tail hairstyle at the back of his head and messing it up thoroughly.

"Pledge allegiance?" Ling Yanzhi let out a soft laugh, pulling Jian Yu’s attention back to him.

He brought his palm down on Yin Jiu’s head.

Three times in a row.

The taps weren’t heavy, but they were enough to make Yin Jiu puff up its fur in anger.

Yang Zhang was fast. The moment Ling Yanzhi’s large hand descended, it vanished back into Xi Yu’s body.

Before it left, it even gave Jian Yu’s collarbone a little peck with its tentacle.

Yin Jiu swallowed its anger, buried itself aggrievedly in Jian Yu’s arms, and let out a small, sorrowful wail, "Baby!!!"

It pressed one closed eye against the floral lace of Jian Yu’s dress while the other peeked out secretly, giving Ling Yanzhi a puppy-dog look.

Jian Yu hugged it tighter and looked up.

Ling Yanzhi met her eyes and gave her a roguish smirk.

Jian Yu’s face flushed slightly. Helpless, she said, "He wasn’t using any force. He’s just teasing you."

Yin Jiu: "..."

’So biased.’

[Master!!!]

Sheng Yue pressed his lips together, the flat line of his mouth betraying his emotional turmoil.

His attention shifted, his gaze fixed on the swaying Gu Qi, ready to rush over and intercept him the moment he landed.

Ling Yanzhi’s smile widened until he couldn’t help but break into a grin.

He stuck one hand in his pocket, tilted his head back, and rolled his neck.

His figure distorted as a shadowy gust of black and red wind swept upward.

Rather than waiting for the person to land, he preferred to strike first and prevent any accidents.

"AHHHH!" Terrified at being snatched up like a baby chick, Gu Qi shrieked in panic.

He kicked his legs in mid-air. "I don’t know anything! I didn’t see anything! I was captured and brought here too! Let me go, I swear I won’t say a word!"

Ling Yanzhi twitched his lips, speechless. "I’m saving you. Keep shouting and I’ll drop you."

Gu Qi went quiet.

’Who would’ve guessed! This psycho is actually saving me!’

He wouldn’t have died from jumping from the second floor, but he had been carefully climbing down because he was afraid of breaking a leg.

But this guy shows up and just yanks him into the sky. The height alone was enough to make Gu Qi break out in a cold sweat just by looking down.

Even after his feet were on the ground, it felt a little unreal. His head was dizzy and felt a bit tight with panic.

FLUMP.

His legs gave out and he collapsed onto his knees, his spine slumping as his palms scraped the ground.

He lifted his head, his gaze sweeping from left to right before finally locking onto Jian Yu’s youthful face.

Gu Qi blinked hard. "Hey, it’s you!"

’This is so weird. I didn’t see anyone a moment ago. Where did all these people come from?’

He pushed himself up from the ground, his legs still a bit wobbly. "Weren’t you guys from the academy still training at Qiongji Mu?"

Gu Qi’s eyes reddened, and tears began to fall instantly, his face a mask of bitter grief. "You were tricked into coming here too, weren’t you? Run! Get out of here! This is no place for people."

Jian Yu opened her mouth to ask something, but before a single word could come out, a strong sense of unease washed over her.

She swallowed nervously. "Let’s get out of here first. I have a bad feeling about this."

Xi Yu sent out his spiritual power to probe the area.

Ling Yanzhi turned to look at him.

Xi Yu shook his head.

When his spiritual power was operating at high speed, he could cover a 30-kilometer radius and an altitude of 1,500 meters.

From what he could observe, there was no sign of movement.

However, at times like this, a lack of movement was the most terrifying thing of all.

’Are they trying to make us lower our guard?’

Without a word, Sheng Yue immediately activated his Mecha.

Xi Yu and the others had made fighting so many people look easy and effortless.

But Sheng Yue knew that kind of destructive power could only be achieved by condensing Soul Power to its absolute maximum.

In other words, for a short period, the two of them could only defend themselves at best. It would be difficult for them to engage in another high-intensity battle.

Xi Yu was unwilling to accept this.

His main reason for coming this time was to kill Yan Yu.

After the last incident, Yan Yu had been rushed to the Awakened Hospital, only to be evacuated from the Imperial City less than half an hour later.

By the time Xi Yu got there, Yan Yu had already returned to Emperor Wolf Star.

Sheng Yue had said that even if he wasn’t dead, he was crippled.

Others had also said that a crippled Awakener would most likely not survive.

Xi Yu had been waiting for news of his death, but who knew the guy would end up living more and more comfortably, even sending people to provoke them multiple times with the goal of capturing Jian Yu alive.

Xi Yu’s face was grim. "I still haven’t found Yan Yu."

Gu Qi didn’t know why Xi Yu and the others were looking for Yan Yu.

He only knew that Admiral Yan had many adopted sons and daughters, but only Yan Ying and Yan Yu were his biological children.

He was desperate, bowing and pleading frantically. "Stop looking! Let’s just go, I’m begging you! I don’t want to die! Even if I have to die, I want to die on Alliance territory!"

Everyone froze.

’What does he mean?’

’What does he mean, "die on Alliance territory"? Isn’t Emperor Wolf Star also an affiliated planet of the Alliance?’

Jian Yu felt her internal danger radar going off, and her panic grew.

She pushed Xi Yu toward Sheng Yue’s Mecha.

As she turned, Ling Yanzhi scooped her up and carried her into his black and red Mecha.

Gu Qi was dumbfounded. "What about me? Don’t leave me behind! I overheard a lot of information! I’m not useless!"
