Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 252 - 196: The New Company’s Positioning
Wang Hua was delighted when he heard this. Yang Hui had finally done something decent. He was genuinely afraid Yang Hui would buy Shen Meng another expensive car, which would probably lead to Wu Min mocking him for days.
"Haha, Minmin, I’m not that petty. That Volkswagen Golf you were looking at the other day is nice—a real hot hatch, sturdy and safe. A used car? I wouldn’t dare buy you one even if you asked. After all, your safety is more important than anything."
Wu Min huffed. "Now *that* sounds more like it."
Wang Hua, finally reclaiming his masculine pride, pictured the scene in his head and said, "I wonder what Yang Hui will think when he finds out I bought you a Golf, while he’s looking at that piece of junk he bought for Shen Meng."
Wu Min scoffed. "What would he think? That he saved money, of course. Winning over a great beauty like Shen Meng with the least amount of money—that’s a good investment."
Thinking of Shen Meng’s delicate features and graceful figure, Wang Hua couldn’t help but feel a little jealous of that guy Yang Hui. He said fiercely, "When the time comes, drive the Golf I’m buying you and show it off to your cousin. Let her know what kind of car a real man should buy for his woman. A used car... hah!"
’That would certainly give me a lot of face,’ Wu Min thought silently. Then she said, "Then let’s hurry up and buy it. If we get it before them, maybe that Yang Hui will be too embarrassed to buy her a used one."
Wang Hua nodded. It was always Yang Hui one-upping him; now it was finally his turn to one-up Yang Hui.
"Minmin, we’ll go look at cars this afternoon."
Buying a Golf now was no big deal. A 20,000 yuan down payment was all it took, and the rest of the installment payments would be under Wu Min’s name. It was like using a car to tie her down. Wang Hua was pleased with his clever plan.
Going to see the car this very afternoon? Of course Wu Min wouldn’t refuse. She was about to have her very own first car and was extremely excited.
The first thing she did when she got to the office was contact a car sales consultant. She got the details on the configuration and asked if they had the car in stock. When she learned they did, Wu Min impatiently asked if they could take delivery today.
It was still morning, so there was enough time. The sales consultant could wash the car and prepare some of the paperwork in advance. If things went quickly, they could drive it away in the afternoon. With all this done, Wu Min blissfully fantasized about the scene: her, driving a Golf, while Shen Meng drove a small, shabby used car. She was finally scoring a point.
Shen Meng stood waiting for Yang Hui, her eyes fixed on the direction he usually came from, looking for his black Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
A taxi pulled up in front of her. Shen Meng took a step back, putting some distance between herself and the cab. Just then, the window rolled down, revealing Yang Hui’s handsome, sunny face. "Shen Meng, get in."
As he called out to her, he opened the rear passenger-side door. Shen Meng was confused about why he had taken a taxi, but now was clearly not the time to ask. After getting in and sitting down beside him, she finally asked, "Where’s your car?"
"It’s at the 4S dealership, getting repaired."
Shen Meng turned to him. "What happened?" His car was brand new; it shouldn’t need repairs for quality issues.
"It’s nothing. I wasn’t paying attention while driving and got into a little fender-bender." He didn’t tell her about the incident on the overpass, not wanting to scare her. Besides, he’d done something that dangerous for another woman, and he was afraid it would make her angry.
She assumed it was just a scratch or something and nodded. "Be careful when you drive. you’re always getting distracted."
Yang Hui glanced at the driver in front, then whispered in her ear, "I only get distracted when there’s a beautiful woman in the passenger seat. Normally, I don’t."
Shen Meng turned to look at him, her tone a little resentful. "Well, that’s a problem. You often have beautiful women in your passenger seat."
Er... ’Time to change the subject.’
"Shen Meng, do you think the NLB livestream should be next Monday or this Thursday?"
Just as he’d expected, she immediately switched into work mode. She thought for a moment. "It mainly depends on how Xinyue Group’s customer acquisition is going. If the number of new sign-ups starts to slow down, I think we should do it on Thursday. But if we’re still adding a lot of people each day, we should push it to next Monday. Getting this livestream done early means we can start preparing for Zen’s livestream sooner."
He nodded slightly. He was thinking the same thing. In the future, they could hold one of these livestreams for each brand every month as a perk for consumers and Yanghe Commerce members. With this in mind, he sent a text to Yang Na: "We need to develop our own online mini-program to facilitate member services and for the timely release and delivery of event information."
The taxi stopped in front of the Mercedes-Benz 4S dealership in the auto mall. Shen Meng had thought he was taking her to a hotel, so she was surprised when they arrived at the dealership. ’Did they fix his car that quickly?’ she wondered.
It wasn’t until Yang Hui led her inside to handle the paperwork for a new car that she realized something was wrong. She whispered in his ear, "Didn’t we say my first car shouldn’t be too nice? It’s just for practicing. It’ll be heartbreaking if I scratch or dent it."
As Xiaolang filled out the forms, he couldn’t help but envy the beautiful woman’s good fortune. ’Listen to that,’ he thought. ’He’s buying her a top-spec Mercedes C260L just for practice. A rich boyfriend who treats her so well... does anyone know where I can find a man like that? I’ll take a dozen.’
Just then, they heard President Yang say in all seriousness, "Isn’t this just a little junker? Once you’ve honed your driving skills, I’ll get you another one."
She lowered her head and said nothing, thinking he was just showing off. She knew Yang Hui was rich, but not so rich he could change cars like he changed clothes. Besides, his company had huge expenses right now. She was aware its cash flow wasn’t abundant. Sales had probably been good the last few days, bringing in a lot of cash, but that money would soon be needed for new inventory orders.
Under these circumstances, she figured Yang Hui probably didn’t have much cash on hand.
