Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 363 - 233: The Daughter-in-law Becomes the Mother-in-law?

Yang Wei never expected to be so harshly criticized by his boss on only the second day of his new role. He was utterly miserable. ’This job isn’t as simple as I thought.’

"Alright, you know where the problems lie. Now it’s time to see your execution and management abilities in action. This brand was doing so well before; it can’t be allowed to fail in your hands. There’d be no way to answer to President Li."

Yang Wei returned to the Airex office area, looking thoroughly dejected. He wanted to delegate some tasks, only to find that the supervisors were all gone. ’Damn it,’ he thought. ’Couldn’t they have waited a little while?’

In the group chat, he once again demanded that all supervisor teams start their online livestream sales today. He also instructed each supervisor to communicate with the floor managers at their respective malls to secure the same promotional resources they had last month.

Half a day passed after he sent the message, and not a single person had replied in the group. He suddenly realized he was being given the silent treatment.

Meanwhile, the private group chat that Ji Kun and a few others were in was buzzing with activity.

[Ji Kun: Does that idiot even understand the tasks he’s assigning?]

[Han Ya: You already called him an idiot. If he’s a bird, then he’s just chirping. And who can understand bird language?]

[Xiang Ling: Should we all just ignore him? Is that really a good idea?]

[Xu Guang: And reply with what? That we can’t do it? We can’t very well just tell him we’re not going to do it, can we?]

[Ji Kun: Just ignore him. We’ll stick together through thick and thin and fight him to the bitter end.]

[...]

Yang Wei had never imagined his own subordinates would rebel against him the moment he took charge.

At Ruijing Commerce, Li Qing of the operations department had been the acting manager ever since Yang Na left. The "acting" part of her title had yet to be removed. What’s more, everyone in the company knew that Qin Hong from General Affairs had her eye on the position. For now, with President Zhao still around, Fang Zheng didn’t have the authority to transfer Qin Hong. But the moment the "acting" was dropped from Fang Zheng’s title, Li Qing’s "acting" title—and her manager position along with it—would likely vanish. Fang Zheng would definitely bring Qin Hong over.

Therefore, Li Qing was resentful and only went through the motions as operations manager.

As she was working, she happened to look up and froze. Rubbing her eyes, she nudged the colleague beside her. "Look, isn’t that Manager Yang? Or am I hallucinating?"

Just then, Yang Hui looked over and waved a greeting to them.

"Wow, it really is our boss! How does he have time to visit?"

Several people rushed over to greet him. "Boss!" "Manager!" "It’s been so long since you came to see us!"

Yang Hui smiled. "Is everyone doing okay? Well, I’m here now, aren’t I?"

Then he pointed toward President Zhao’s office. "I’m going to see President Zhao first. We’ll talk later."

People from other departments saw him too, of course, but knowing he didn’t get along with Fang Zheng, no one dared to greet him. Only Manager Fu from HR approached. "Here to see President Zhao?"

He nodded. "I am. How have you been?"

Manager Fu gave a wry smile. "Same as always. Nothing much to say, good or bad."

"Right. We’ll talk later."

He needed to touch base with President Zhao. President Feng would be arriving soon, so it was best to go over a few key points with President Zhao beforehand.

In his office, Fang Zheng heard his subordinate’s report. "He’s here to see President Zhao? Don’t tell me he couldn’t hack it on the outside and wants to come crawling back," he sneered. "A pity. What’s the point of seeing Old Zhao now? The man’s about to retire."

Just then, Xiaosong glanced at his phone. "Boss, I got confirmation. Yang Hui has indeed resigned from Futong Commerce."

HA HA! Fang Zheng roared with laughter. "Wasn’t he so damn cocky? How did he get kicked out after only a month? This just goes to show, you shouldn’t get too full of yourself. Some people can never tell the difference between luck and actual ability."

"Looks like he came to see Old Zhao today because he wants to come back. What a shame, he’s too late. Old Zhao can’t call the shots anymore. In the future of Ruijing Commerce, as long as I’m around, he can forget about ever setting foot in here again."

BZZZT~

Fang Zheng picked up his phone. It was a message in the supervisors’ group chat from President Zhao’s assistant, Xiaocai: "@Everyone, meeting in the main conference room in one hour. President Feng will be presiding and has a major personnel appointment to announce."

He was overcome with glee and couldn’t stop himself from saying aloud, "Holy shit! The company’s really going all out this time, having President Feng come announce it in person. Looks like the corporation really appreciates all my hard work."

It didn’t take a genius to figure it out. Every supervisor in the company could guess what the "major personnel appointment" was. For the regional head, President Feng, to come all this way in person, there was only one possibility: the official announcement of the new Regional General Manager.

Instinctively, everyone’s eyes turned toward Fang Zheng’s office.

"I heard he threw another celebration party last night, but this time, it’s pretty much a done deal."

"Yeah. After all these years, his time has finally come."

"Yang Hui just came to see President Zhao. I wonder what it was about. Ah, well. He can only drop by now. Once Fang Zheng is the regional head, he’ll definitely never show his face here again."

The news of President Feng’s arrival instantly blanketed the office in a tense silence. The entire workspace was as quiet as a tomb. Fang Zheng had a document that needed President Zhao’s signature. Normally, he would just toss it to Xiaocai to get signed with the rest, but today, feeling like a victor, he wanted to gloat in front of his "vanquished foe" and savor the achievement.

He knocked on President Zhao’s office door, then pushed it open and walked in. He saw Yang Hui sitting on the sofa, chatting cheerfully with President Zhao.

Upon seeing Fang Zheng, President Zhao stopped their conversation. Fang Zheng strode forward. "President Zhao, this is last week’s reimbursement form. I need your signature."

President Zhao took the form and signed his name without even looking at it. Fang Zheng took it back, then turned to Yang Hui with an enigmatic smile. "Yang Hui, I’m afraid you can’t linger. We have a meeting starting soon."

Yang Hui watched him coolly, the corner of his mouth twisting into a frosty smile.
