Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 366: The More Arrogant, The More Pathetic (3)

President Zhao’s eyes lit up as he spoke about this. Clearly, this was the life he had been looking forward to for a long time.

Yang Hui didn’t stand on ceremony any longer. He walked over to the executive chair behind the desk, sat down, and used the internal line to have his assistant, Xiaocai, call Manager Fu from HR.

Xiaocai had offended Fang Zheng in the past and had spent the last month on pins and needles. She knew her life would be difficult after Fang Zheng took office. No one expected that after all the twists and turns, Yang Hui would come roaring back. Right now, she was outside, watching everyone discuss the matter in a few of the company’s small group chats.

Fang Zheng, who had celebrated prematurely again yesterday, had now locked himself in his office and hadn’t come out for several hours. So, someone in the group chat “thoughtfully” asked what he would do if he needed to use the restroom after being in there for so long.

Someone below suggested he could use a water bottle, and then someone else worried that he couldn’t reach. The messages in the group chat had already gotten too vulgar to read, but Xiaocai knew Fang Zheng’s failure to get the position was a cause for widespread celebration.

Manager Fu quickly knocked and entered. Seeing President Zhao sitting on the sofa, she greeted him politely before walking up to Yang Hui’s desk. “President Yang, you called for me.”

“Have a seat. There are a few things I need to discuss with you,” Yang Hui said with a smile, exuding a bright and comforting aura.

This also had something to do with his handsome looks. Someone with a face like Fang Zheng’s just looked creepy when they smiled.

Manager Fu sat down and listened as Yang Hui spoke. “I need you to quickly find me a candidate for the Head of Channel Development. The requirements are a good understanding of the Qingjiang River market, preferably with experience at a large company. Younger is better. The salary can be slightly higher than the company standard. As long as the person is capable, everything is negotiable. You can also go through a headhunting firm for recommendations.”

‘Looks like Fang Zheng is finished,’ Manager Fu thought, a sudden sense of satisfaction washing over her. Then she wondered if she was kicking a man while he was down, but Fang Zheng was truly just that detestable.

‘She had one reservation. President Yang said the salary for the new Head of Channel Development could be higher than the company’s maximum standard. Shouldn’t that be cleared with headquarters first? After all, exceeding the standard would be beyond the General Manager’s authority.’

President Zhao, listening from the side, seemed to guess what Manager Fu was thinking. He smiled and said, “Just do as President Yang says. Whatever he asks for, headquarters will definitely approve. The CEO has given him plenty of leeway.”

‘Wow…’ Manager Fu marveled inwardly. ‘Is this what they call being in the emperor’s favor?’

“Also, hurry up and remove the ‘acting’ from Li Qing’s title in the Operations Department. Let her fully step into the role of a manager. Having ‘acting’ in her title while managing isn’t proper and feels unofficial. It can affect her performance.”

“Lastly, review the current salary situation for everyone in the company and prepare a salary increase proposal for me.”

Manager Fu noted everything down, unable to stop the smile from spreading across her face. ‘So this is President Yang’s “three fires of a new official”?’ she thought. ‘Get rid of Fang Zheng, make Li Qing’s promotion official, and then give everyone a raise.’

Once this news got out, everyone in the company, except for Fang Zheng, would probably be overjoyed. It would be a day worthy of setting off firecrackers to celebrate.

Headquarters didn’t have any company-wide salary adjustment plans at the moment. However, thanks to President Zhao’s earlier comment, she suspected that headquarters had likely given President Yang a great deal of authority, so she had no doubts about the salary increases.

After Manager Fu left, Yang Hui said to President Zhao, “This afternoon, I’m going to the Xinyue Group regional headquarters to discuss the various issues that have come up in our partnership.”

“In such a hurry?”

He just smiled. ‘Of course I’m in a hurry. Once I’ve sorted things out, I can resign sooner.’ Although he never stayed in one place for long, he cared immensely about his reputation. He had a “do good for the people during my term” sort of mentality.

Besides, Zhang Chun was here today and could introduce him to Zong Lan. That would be far more effective than him trying to visit her on his own.

「At Futong Commerce」

Li Yang was on the phone with a regional vice president from Xinyue Group, once again proposing to invite Zong Lan to dinner.

The VP’s attitude was clearly colder than last time. He told him that President Zong had just arrived and was not accepting any social invitations whatsoever. He’d have to wait a while.

Li Yang then asked if he could get President Zong’s contact information, but to his surprise, he was rejected again. “President Li, just wait a while. Once she’s past this busy period, if you have a chance to meet her when you’re in the region, you can ask for it in person.”

‘Since Zong Lan hasn’t agreed to give it out, I definitely can’t do it privately,’ the VP thought. ‘If Li Yang, not knowing any better, ends up angering her, and she finds out I’m the one who gave him her contact info, I’m finished.’

After hanging up, Li Yang grew agitated. He couldn’t afford to delay the partnership between NLB and Xinyue Group. If this dragged on any longer, how would he complete the targets he’d promised the NLB Brand Company for the year? If he failed, he would lose the brand’s promised 3% rebate and material support. The losses would be huge.

With nowhere to vent his anger, he called Dan Biao over and chewed him out again. “You bunch of good-for-nothings! Your performance is pathetic, which is why our channel development work is constrained at every turn. Luckily, the general managers out there still show me some respect. We’re about to open an NLB in Jiang’an City. It’s a store second only to the one on the first floor of Xinyue Square. I demand that your performance there be no less than 1.2 million per month.”

Dan Biao was in despair. ‘If performance targets were just a matter of saying a number, what’s the point of having subordinates?’ he thought. ‘Where did this 1.2 million figure even come from? Just because Yanghe Commerce is doing well? Are our other objective conditions even remotely the same as Yanghe Commerce’s?’

“Also, I’m watching your online livestream sales every day. You better keep a close eye on it. If you don’t go live again in the next two days, I’ll punish you. And as for that newcomer, Xiaoyang, you’d better train him properly. On his first day, he was dead last in both year-over-year and month-over-month comparisons. Did I spend money to hire a good-for-nothing?”
