Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 375: Touched the Wrong Thing (Part 3)

In the past, whenever Ruijing Commerce announced salary adjustments, the list would only show who was getting a raise, not the specific amounts. The HR department would then send a separate, confidential email to each individual, as the company had a strict policy on salary privacy.

Li Qing clicked open the email and froze. The message contained just two words: “Company-wide raises.”

This was a first for Ruijing Commerce. There had never been a general salary adjustment for all employees. ‘How did this plan even get approved by headquarters? The boss must have some incredible connections.’

After the email went out, both the small and large office spaces erupted. Everyone wanted to build a shrine to Yang Hui, praying he would remain Ruijing Commerce’s regional general manager forever and that his position would be secure.

Yang Hui had no idea, but if he knew who was doing that, he’d have Manager Fu “encourage” them to resign immediately. Wasn’t that just cursing him?

The discussions died down. Now, they were more anxious to see exactly how much their own raises were. The colleagues in Li Qing’s office returned to their desks, constantly refreshing their inboxes, wanting to see their new salary figures the second they came in.

But before that email arrived, another one landed in their inboxes. Today was just one bombshell after another.

Someone in the office roared, “Long live President Yang! President Yang is mighty!”

The people nearby all shot him sidelong glances. It was Xiaosong from the Channel Development Department. His former boss, Fang Zheng, had been “taken care of,” yet here he was shouting “Long live President Yang.” If Fang Zheng heard that, he’d probably die of anger. Not that anyone cared whether he lived or died anymore.

They were all captivated by the email’s content and understood why Xiaosong was so excited. The Channel Development team spent four out of five workdays on the road. President Yang had raised the travel expense allowance for everyone. From now on, when Xiaosong and his colleagues traveled for business, not only would their accommodations be better, but their meal stipends were also higher. They might even have some of the subsidy left over after each trip. For a junior employee with a base salary of just 5,000, this was an incredible perk. On top of that, they were also on the list for a raise. In that light, his shouting “Long live President Yang” didn’t seem so out of line.

Just as everyone was starting to understand, Xiaosong leaped to his feet and roared again, “Long live President Yang! Long live!”

“Damn, is he crazy? So jumpy. He just yelled, why is he yelling again?”

The speaker was Xiaojie from the Finance Department. Others chimed in, agreeing with him—’That Xiaosong must have a screw loose.’

Suddenly, Xiaojie also jumped up. “Holy shit! Long live President Yang! Long live!”

Everyone stared, stunned. He was all the way across the office from Xiaosong. ‘How did the crazy spread so fast?’

But then, similar shouts began to erupt one after another. The once-quiet office area was now like a pot of boiling water. Manager Fu watched the scene unfold. The HR staff didn’t try to quiet them down. On such a joyous day, what was the harm in letting them indulge a little?

Manager Fu knew exactly why they were acting this way. The young women in HR were busy sending out the individual salary notifications, their hands trembling as they typed. The base salary for all junior-level employees had been raised from 5,000 to 8,000.

Supervisors got even more. Regular department supervisors, like those in IT and General Affairs, were raised to 11,000 yuan/month. Supervisors in departments like HR, Finance, Logistics, and Merchandising were raised to 13,000 yuan/month. And managers of core business departments—Operations and Channel Development—saw their salaries increased to 15,000 yuan/month.

Everyone’s salary saw a massive leap. How could they not be ecstatic? The scale of the raises was beyond anyone’s wildest imagination.

The company had a salary confidentiality policy, but no one cared about that anymore. Small groups of friends were already asking each other how much they got.

“We have to go out and celebrate tonight! This is amazing! President Yang is incredible. No wonder people used to tell me that the size of your raise depends on how much sway your boss has in the company. The more powerful the boss, the bigger the raise.”

“Yeah, let’s get the guys from Channel Development to come. They made out the best this time. Forget the raise, they can even pocket some of their company allowance now. I’m so jealous it makes my balls ache.”

The shock hit Li Qing the hardest. Even though she had been the acting operations manager, her salary hadn’t been adjusted; it was still the same 5,000 yuan base pay as her colleagues. This time, her salary was raised directly to 15,000 yuan/month. She was so moved she almost burst into tears.

Just then, her teammates came back into her office. “The boss is so generous! He raised all of us to 8,000! You’re the operations manager, so you must have gotten more, right?”

Li Qing just nodded, not revealing her own amount. Otherwise, their joy might turn to disappointment.

Sure enough, someone spoke up. “The travel allowance was increased too! Especially for you, Sister Qing. This is great! Now you won’t have to stay in budget motels on business trips anymore. With your new allowance, you could stay at nice mid-range places, not to mention some star-rated hotels that only cost a few hundred yuan a night in certain areas. It’s going to be great traveling with you from now on!”

Their words were a mix of congratulations and envy. Li Qing secretly pumped her fist. ‘I have to work hard. I can’t let the boss down.’

“Oh, right, we should hang out with Yang Na soon. We haven’t gotten together since she left the company. I wonder how she’s doing now, and why she didn’t stick with the boss.”

“Sister Qing, when you say ‘stick with,’ what kind of ‘sticking with’ do you mean? Sticking with him in life, or sticking with him at work? If you’re talking about work, we’re all sticking with him. I guess Yang Na was the former, and we’re the latter.”

Li Qing chided them, “Shoo, shoo. You’ve got some nerve, gossiping about President Yang like that. You wish you could be the ‘former,’ but you’d need Yang Na’s looks and figure for that.”

The girls all giggled. Everyone was so happy today that even getting scolded felt good.

Qin Hong quietly read the email again and again. She hadn’t expected this. Even though she didn’t get the operations manager position, her base salary was still over ten thousand.

‘President Yang… I should probably go suck up to him a little.’
