Chapter 1401: Capture Him!
Chapter 1401: Chapter 1077: Capture Him!
As these people fell to the ground, the soldiers originally surrounding Yu Wenye and the others panicked, especially as their warhorses were startled, letting out uneasy whinnies and constantly pacing back and forth, creating complete chaos.
Seizing this moment of confusion, Shen Tu Tai suddenly launched an attack.
He noticed that the people around had surrounded him tightly, with the soldier closest to his right side always keeping his eyes on his arm to prevent him from making a move. Taking advantage of the soldier’s brief distraction, Shen Tu Tai lifted the long spear and backhanded a thrust, piercing through the soldier’s chest as easily as slicing through tofu. The soldier’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked down at his pierced chest, then up at Shen Tu Tai.
Without any expression, Shen Tu Tai slightly withdrew his arm, heard a “rustle” as a blood-red flower bloomed on the soldier’s chest, and he fell to the ground with a scream.
Upon hearing the scream, the surrounding people finally snapped back to reality and were about to advance, but Shen Tu Tai gave them no chance to react, waving his long spear left and right. Amid the chaos, people only saw the cold gleam flickering quickly amidst the blood, and soldiers continuously screamed, falling off their horses. In just a flash, several soldiers had been thrust off their horses by Shen Tu Tai.
With those nearest cleared away, he had nothing hindering him anymore, fiercely swinging the long spear.
Immediately, the outer soldiers, just like the reeds easily cleared away by Shi Yutao’s axe, were effortlessly swept away by Shen Tu Tai. Enthralled in the kill, Shen Tu Tai consecutively struck down two charging soldiers, blood sprayed across the sky, reflecting the newly risen sunlight, displaying eerie and dazzling seven-colored glimmers.
In that glow, Shen Tu Tai lifted his blood-red eyes, staring straight at Shi Yutao on the opposite side.
Only at this moment did Shi Yutao suddenly feel a sharp pain.
It came from his hand, from the tiger’s mouth that had been bandaged. The pain abruptly woke Shi Yutao, realizing he had been dumbfounded—stunned by Shen Tu Tai’s sudden outburst.
Turns out, this was the true Shen Tu Tai!
Yesterday at Hulao Pass, aiding Xue Lin, Shen Tu Tai easily dissolved his several assaults, merely playing around! Now, he showed his true self on the battlefield, a Demon God renowned across the world!
Gripping tightly onto his hand axe, Shi Yutao instinctively wanted to resist, but the pain pierced not only his heart but seemed to sap his strength instantly. He felt ice-cold all over, as if all his blood had frozen into ice, unable to move, standing stiffly watching Shen Tu Tai’s cold gleam like a venomous snake, flitting back and forth, felling his soldiers one by one.
Now, even behind him, Yu Wenye remained unmoving.
After sweeping aside those around him, the soldiers previously surrounding Shen Tu Tai quickly closed ranks around him, while the cavalry that had suddenly appeared charged forward swiftly, in a flash crushing Shi Yutao’s soldiers who, already panicked and lacking his prompt direction, were further disordered by Shen Tu Tai.
Soon enough, Shi Yutao’s forces retreated in defeat.
Around Yu Wenye, his own troops quickly assembled, with swords in hand, exuding a murderous aura.
Finally regaining his composure, Shi Yutao saw Shen Tu Tai chasing, striking a soldier from behind to death with one swift move. Suddenly, a rush of hot blood surged from Shi Yutao’s heart, reigniting his resolve with blazing anger. With a yell, he urged his mount forward, swinging his hand axe to parry Shen Tu Tai’s long spear, positioning himself directly in front of Shen Tu Tai.
The surrounding soldiers quickly shouted, “General!”
Upon seeing him, Shen Tu Tai did not immediately attack, instead grasping the long spear in reverse, coldly observing the blood-soaked bandage on Shi Yutao’s wound, then said, “Can you still fight?”
Shi Yutao gritted his teeth, “Except for death, there’s no reason not to fight.”
Hearing this, Shen Tu Tai raised an eyebrow, the menace in his expression slightly faded, revealing a hint of admiration in his eyes.
At this point, Yu Wenye’s voice called from behind, “But I do not intend for you to die.”
Upon hearing his voice, Shi Yutao immediately lifted his head toward him, seeing Yu Wenye shaking the reins, slowly galloping forward. By now, the sun had fully risen, illuminating the entirety of the North Shore, as well as casting light upon his stern eyes—with a plan successful and victory assured, yet no joy showed on Yu Wenye’s face. Instead, a deep gloom seemed to press heavily on his brow.
Shi Yutao said, “My life and death are not decided by others.”
“…”
“Do you plan to capture me?”
“…”
Yu Wenye did not reply, but Shen Tu Tai seemed itching for action, gripping the long spear so tightly his knuckles cracked audibly, this sound further heightening Shi Yutao’s tension.
He was like a caged tiger, waiting for the gate to open, ready to roar and pounce, shredding his prey to pieces.
Yet, time slowly ticked by, and Yu Wenye did not give the order.
Perplexed, Shen Tu Tai waited a bit longer without any indication from Yu Wenye. Finally, unable to resist, he glanced back and saw the inexplicable unease in Yu Wenye’s deep eyes—even with the upper hand in the situation, why did he show such a face?
Shen Tu Tai softly called, “Your Highness?”
This gentle call finally seemed to awaken Yu Wenye. He raised his head, looking at Shen Tu Tai, then at Shi Yutao and those behind him, suddenly uttered an inexplicable sentence: “It seems you cannot succeed before your sister.”
Upon hearing this, Shi Yutao’s expression immediately darkened.
Yu Wenye said indifferently, “Capture him!”
Responding to this, Shen Tu Tai replied sternly, “Yes!” Then, grasping the reins, he galloped swiftly towards Shi Yutao, brandishing the long spear.
Realizing the opponents intended to capture him, Shi Yutao’s face changed. He shouted urgently to his nearby soldiers, “Retreat quickly!” Saying this, he himself hastily urged his horse to back away. Yet, before the horse could turn, he felt a gust of wind hit his face—Shen Tu Tai had already reached him, his long spear like a vicious serpent, hurtling towards Shi Yutao!
At this moment, Shi Yutao’s heart sank.
Just then, a bright bugle sound suddenly echoed from behind him!
