Chapter 483: Chapter 318: Essence Bracelet

An Alien Race member with an octopus for a head and a lower body made of densely packed tentacles saw Han Ning’s interest in the creature in the tank. It quickly approached and spoke in a garbled version of the continent’s common tongue, "GLUG GLUG~ What do you need?"

Han Ning didn’t speak. He pointed at the Thunderlight Eel in the tank and activated his Authentication ability.

He skimmed past the Thunderlight Eel’s unremarkable data panel.

Behind the Soul Beast’s panel, several lines of data for an item appeared.

[

Item Name: Deep Sea Essence Bracelet (Damaged)

Rarity: Monarch IV

Introduction: A Soul Artifact forged with special techniques, using the condensed Spiritual Energy essence from a Monarch Level Deep Sea Soul Beast.

’What the hell is this? Did the Thunderlight Eel swallow it?’

At this thought, Han Ning calmly looked up and began to converse with the Octopus Head before him. "Hello, I’d like to buy this Thunderlight Eel. How much is it?"

The Octopus Head spat out a bubble. "GLUG~ 100 Deep Sea Coins."

’Don’t be fooled by its fierce, monstrous appearance, like something out of a legend. The price is actually quite reasonable.’

Han Ning quickly did the math. The Deep Sea Race’s Deep Sea Coins could be exchanged for the Merfolk Race’s Jade Pearls at a ratio of roughly 1 to 0.5 (Jade Pearls were the high-tier currency within the Merfolk Sea Alliance).

That was about 200 Jade Pearls, or 20,000 Shell Pearls. In Shuixiu City, that wasn’t even enough to buy a Soul Beast with D Talent.

’Looks like you really can’t judge a book by its cover.’

"Here." Without another word, Han Ning took out two deep-cyan shells from his clothes and placed them on the Octopus Head’s tentacle.

After he paid, the Octopus Head even threw in a huge seaweed bag, woven from some unknown type of seagrass, for carrying the Thunderlight Eel.

Soul Beasts that hadn’t been contracted couldn’t be recalled into a Soul Beast Space.

He had no intention of adding the Thunderlight Eel to his ranks, so he hoisted the thrashing creature onto his shoulder and hurried to catch up with his two companions, who were still strolling leisurely through the market.

The entire transaction took less than twenty seconds. Sage and Hom were still within his line of sight.

"What did you buy?" Hearing light footsteps behind him, Sage turned his head to see Han Ning hurrying over, carrying a huge seaweed bundle that was almost bigger than he was.

"A Thunderlight Eel, but I suspect there’s something inside it." Han Ning put the seaweed bundle on the ground, opened the bag, and pointed at the large, constantly floundering eel inside. He smiled and said, "Teachers, have you noticed anything unusual about it?"

As expected of a Profound Moon Level Beast Master, a faint fiery glint flickered in Sage’s eyes. With just a single glance, he spotted the anomaly. "The Spiritual Energy fluctuations are off. There must be something hidden inside its body."

"Amazing!"

Han Ning gave a thumbs-up and tipped the bag over.

THUD~

The Thunderlight Eel, its body a glossy black and covered in a thick slime, fell onto the wet, muddy ground. Like a fish out of water, it flapped and flopped about nonstop.

Han Ning eyed the five-meter-long Thunderlight Eel, raised his right hand, and gave its head a good SMACK.

The Thunderlight Eel’s bulging eyes rolled upward, and its body twitched unconsciously.

Then, sharp, red tendrils emerged from his fingertips and sliced viciously across the Thunderlight Eel’s lower belly.

The slick skin offered no resistance and was sliced open instantly.

He rolled up his sleeves, ignoring the overwhelming stench of fish, and plunged his hand into the Thunderlight Eel’s belly, rummaging around fiercely.

After digging for a moment, he felt something hard.

He pushed aside the clumped-together innards and saw an organ that resembled a stomach.

’Keep cutting.’

A cold light flashed.

The stomach was sliced open.

The contents were even more disgusting. Frowning, Han Ning reached into the stomach and immediately touched a ring-shaped object.

He grabbed it and pulled it out for a look.

Whoa!

It turned out to be a "Headband," covered in disgusting slime, its color impossible to determine for the moment.

’Considering the panel’s description, this thing should be a bracelet. The original owner’s body must have been much larger than a human’s.’

The bracelet’s surface was coated in a filthy substance, through which a few scattered blue specks could be vaguely seen.

It was impossible to tell if it was still usable, or even what its true color was.

After confirming that this was the mysterious Soul Artifact from the panel, Han Ning took the bracelet and washed it in a nearby puddle to rinse off some of the food residue. Then he wiped it with the corner of his pants, rubbing off a large patch of grime.

The filth flaked off like dandruff.

It revealed intricate and unique Runes underneath.

"Huh?"

Seeing this, Han Ning simply took the bracelet and began rubbing it vigorously against his pants.

SCRUB, SCRUB, SCRUB~

His black pants were smeared with a large, dark stain.

And the bracelet, with a diameter larger than his head, was revealed to the three of them.

The entire bracelet had a sea-blue base color.

However, the ring-like surface of the bracelet was engraved with bright silver Runes, all of a uniform size.

The silver Runes flowed together, covering the sea-blue base so that from a distance, it truly looked like an exquisite piece of silverware.

But on nearly half of it, the exquisite Runes had been wiped from the surface by some unknown Power, leaving it covered in ugly scratches and fine cracks.

On one part of the bracelet’s inner ring, two peculiar characters were carved.

Han Ning guessed their meaning from their shape and read them aloud. "Sea-Suppressing?"

"Is your name Sea-Suppressing?"

He wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but when he spoke the two words "Sea-Suppressing," the bracelet seemed to tremble slightly.

In Han Ning’s experience, if something was strong enough to make him think he was imagining it, then it most likely really happened.

"Sea-Suppressing. Not bad!"
