Wilderness: I Tame Beasts to Survive
Chapter 487 - 320: Marquis Fengling
Chapter 487: Chapter 320: Marquis Fengling
In the lulls while recovering their Spiritual Energy, the Witch Spirit Beastmasters were still able to command their Soul Beasts to rotate into the fight.
Furthermore, to prevent any Sea Soul Beasts from launching a surprise attack from an unexpected location, every building and high platform where the Witch Spirit People were hiding was guarded by over a dozen War General Level Soul Beasts, which raised colorful Spiritual Shields.
Since the rooftop was already packed with people, Han Ning and the others headed inside the building.
"Get down! A powerful Soul Technique could pierce the Shield and blow your head off."
Hassuning, moving in a crouch, yanked hard on a soldier who was clearly a greenhorn new to the battlefield, barking in a low voice.
As luck would have it, he had just finished speaking.
"Watch out!" Han Ning, who was beside him, suddenly yelled.
A deep blue beam of light shot in from the distance, sweeping across more than a dozen nearby buildings and striking their outer Spiritual Energy Shields, sending brilliant sparks flying.
The terrified rookie immediately ducked his head and dropped to the ground.
Inside the building, over twenty Beast Masters were taking cover behind walls made of Elemental Rock, completely focused on the battle.
"Who’s the temporary commander here? Where is Marquis Fengling right now?"
Amid the booming of elements and heaven-shaking roars, Hassuning had to shout at the top of his lungs just to be heard.
"I am!"
A tan man stepped out from the crowd and quickly shook Hassuning’s hand.
"I’m the Marquis’s Intelligence Officer." Hassuning presented his identification.
The commander didn’t doubt him. He pointed toward the northwest, where the defenses looked thinner at the edge of their line of sight. In a rushed tone, he said, "The Marquis and Prince Wangchao just went that way."
’Who the hell is Prince Wangchao?’
Han Ning hadn’t expected the prince of the Wangchao Family to be mixed up in this.
Earlier, when he was listening to the Marquis’s aide explain the situation, he had thought he’d misheard.
"Ahem. The eldest son of Lord Bobo Ta’s Direct Lineage was forced to flee his clan due to internal strife in the Wangchao Family. The Marquis took him in, which is likely one of the reasons for this joint attack by the Red Manta and Wangchao Families," Hassuning explained as the group hurried toward their destination.
"Oh, right. Lord Bobo Ta was the former Clan Leader of the Wangchao Family. He controlled nearly one-fifth of the Deep Sea Territory in the Celestial Sea and was known as the Fear Demon King of the Deep Sea."
"But while exploring the outer regions, Lord Bobo Ta was attacked by an otherworldly creature and grievously injured. Some time ago, he perished within the Wangchao Family’s territorial waters. After that, internal strife erupted within the Wangchao Family. Luluke’s faction seized the opportunity to usurp power and began to hunt down and exterminate all of Lord Bobo Ta’s descendants. The eldest Prince managed to escape under the protection of the Direct Lineage’s forces, but his tracks were discovered by the Red Manta Clan."
Considering the Wangchao Family was one of the foremost great families of the Deep Sea Race, controlling a territory larger than some empires, it was normal to refer to the ruler’s eldest son from the Direct Lineage as the eldest Prince.
As they spoke, the group rode their Soul Beasts into an area where the battle was even more ferocious.
This area was close to the coastline and, having been battered by tidal waves, was now completely submerged.
Dozens of rows of specially reinforced Elemental Giant Stones stretched across the original coastline like a Great Wall, extending for countless miles into the unseen distance.
The Southern Four Islands were just that—islands. But rumor had it that Marquis Fengling had used his Elemental Power to block off the sea between them, fusing the Four Islands into a single landmass.
Countless temporarily constructed high-rises shot into the sky, erupting with the deafening roar of Spiritual Energy.
The sea roiled with hundred-meter-tall waves, the scarlet blood of beasts dyeing the water crimson.
As Han Ning’s group reached the perimeter of one of the buildings, a sharp shriek came from the distance.
A silver streak of Flowing Light had, without anyone noticing, already penetrated the outer Shield and was closing in fast, heading straight for the female Witch Spirit Person standing at the very edge of the group.
The light arrived before the sound.
It was so fast that everyone present was stunned speechless.
Even Hassuning’s enhanced high-speed vision couldn’t keep up with the streaking Flowing Light.
He could only watch, helpless, as the Flowing Light was about to pierce his comrade’s brow.
’It’s over...’
The thought flashed through his mind.
But just then.
The air shimmered with concentric ripples.
A black and red figure, leaving a blurry afterimage on the stunned Witch Spirit’s retinas, appeared eerily in front of Hassuning and the woman. At the last possible second, it blocked the Flowing Light.
BANG!
The silver light shattered, scattering into motes of light.
Hassuning finally got a clear look at the full, three-meter-tall, slender figure.
Interlocking black and red armor clung to her magnificent curves, and her red, draconic helmet flashed with two sharp, brilliant points of light.
"This is..." Hassuning’s expression was stunned.
Fei Lin kicked off, becoming a black bolt of lightning that sped between the buildings.
In the blink of an eye, all the Sea Beasts that had been aggressively assaulting the defensive line were turned into a rain of blood.
Having done this, she ran to the front of the Shield, raised her twin swords, and cleaved down powerfully toward a point in the sea before her!
BOOM!
The roar of exploding seawater echoed.
As Fei Lin’s swords swung down, a slender, brilliant golden arc of light streaked across the sky. The surface of the sea before her split in two, as if she were Moses parting the waters.
Countless Sea Soul Beasts were slain by this sea-cleaving blade of light, including a gigantic Silver Sword Spearfish a full hundred meters long.
"So powerful! She’s worthy of being Lord Seg’s guard." Hassuning and the Witch Spirit woman she had just saved still had looks of shock on their faces.
"An Upper Lord Soul Beast has been detected in this area. All combat personnel, evacuate to the east immediately."
A low, raspy voice sounded. It wasn’t loud, yet it penetrated every corner of the nearby buildings, reaching every person’s ears with perfect clarity.
