Wilderness Survival with Druid System
Chapter 1030 - 49: Discovering the Tiger
The Golden Eagle ascended to a high perch.
It planned to scout the surrounding area; Chen Wen’s mention of the tiger had caught its attention.
To ensure safety, it intended to locate that tiger.
Circling in the sky, the Golden Eagle continuously searched the ground for signs.
Trees, shrubs, and animals swiftly passed by in its view, and its powerful eyesight allowed the Golden Eagle to quickly discern danger.
It spotted some food and some predators, yet it did not find any trace of the tiger Chen Wen spoke of.
Could it be that the tiger is not in the forest?
The Golden Eagle pondered, but felt this possibility was slight.
After all, it had heard from Chen Wen that the tiger’s kin loved surviving in the forest, only occasionally venturing out for water.
Just then, the Golden Eagle shifted its gaze towards a distant lake.
It changed its direction and headed toward the lake, intending to check out the situation there.
...
Across the vast lake surface.
The Golden Eagle lowered its flight altitude somewhat, carefully observing the scene here.
But apart from some waterfowl and birds, the Golden Eagle didn’t see any other traces.
Could it be not here?
The Golden Eagle thought, preparing to ascend again for a better view.
Suddenly, the Golden Eagle noticed a swift shadow darting through the forest some distance away.
The Golden Eagle was startled.
It quickly flew over.
Soon, the Golden Eagle witnessed a brutal scene.
A tiger, similar in appearance to the so-called "Great Orange" but considerably smaller in size, was hunting a wild boar.
The wild boar’s size was not big, even less than a third of the size of the wild boar Chen Wen’s group had killed.
Yet it still displayed a fierce demeanor.
The wild boar opened its mouth, aiming its tusks at the tiger.
It tried to struggle for survival.
But this resistance was too weak against the jungle’s king—the tiger.
The tiger raised its front paws, planted its hind legs, and smashed its thick paws onto the wild boar’s head, executing a secret technique—Big Cat Punch!
The heavy force combined with sharp claws made this seemingly playful attack exceedingly lethal.
A series of blows left the wild boar dazed.
Who was it?
Where was it?
Where was it going?
In its bewilderment, the wild boar had already been easily pinned to the ground by the tiger.
The tiger hesitated a bit, but following its instincts, it fiercely bit the wild boar’s neck.
The powerful bite allowed it to easily sever the wild boar’s throat, and blood oozed out from the wound left by its teeth.
The tiger released the now completely still wild boar and gently licked the blood off its own cheek.
Nearby, the Golden Eagle looked solemn.
It felt as though the tiger was playing, yet it had indeed killed the wild boar.
So strong!
The Golden Eagle pondered.
Just then, the tiger sharply noticed the Golden Eagle’s position.
It raised its head, curiously observing the Golden Eagle.
It seemed as if it was the first time the tiger saw a bird so close.
The tiger let out a series of soft calls.
The Golden Eagle hesitated for a moment; it felt the tiger was greeting it.
But the Golden Eagle didn’t naïvely approach the tiger.
It flapped its wings and flew high.
Seeing the Golden Eagle’s move, the tiger seemed a bit disappointed.
It lowered its head and began eating.
...
The Golden Eagle didn’t linger; it quickly returned to the Eagle and reported the situation.
The Eagle didn’t have any ideas either, simply telling the Golden Eagle to inform Chen Wen.
The Golden Eagle nodded.
Only Chen Wen could make decisions on this matter.
Not concerned with the tiger anymore, the Golden Eagle looked down, seeing Wolf Mink King Kong had already killed two mountain rabbits and was now eating with the small Wolf Mink.
Curiously, the Golden Eagle commented, "They’re pretty cooperative, aren’t they? To have killed two mountain rabbits."
Hearing this, the Eagle said helplessly, "Cooperative...The two didn’t cooperate. Killing those two wild rabbits was entirely thanks to that little one’s keen perception."
The comment piqued the Golden Eagle’s curiosity even more.
It promptly asked about what had transpired, and the Eagle slowly recounted, "Actually, when digging just now, the little one noticed the mountain rabbit inside seemed to be escaping in another direction. It alerted King Kong, who then switched positions to crouch down and let the little one dig."
"Then there was nothing more to it; finding the correct tunnel entrance, King Kong killed the two mountain rabbits inside with ease."
Hearing this, the Golden Eagle glanced at the little Wolf Mink.
Is this creature’s perception ability that impressive?
Perhaps it could mention this to Chen Wen later.
...
At the camp.
The fireplace had been constructed.
Chen Wen built the fireplace with ease.
Previously at Great Slave Lake, he had abundant experience.
Not to mention, this time he also had teammates’ help.
With Gaston’s assistance, Chen Wen swiftly stacked stones together, leaving openings for the chimney.
By nighttime, the shelter had been completely constructed.
Chen Wen’s fireplace was extremely functional.
Everyone huddled in the shelter, watching Chen Wen light the fire, smoke threading through the chimney into the exterior.
The chimney was well-made.
The roof, too, was meticulously constructed under Roland’s craftsmanship, marking its successful completion.
The roof comprised four layers of protection.
The first layer was waterproof fabric, completely preventing the risk of rainwater seeping inside.
The second layer was planks, sawed and slanted atop the roof, providing wind and rain shelter, fixing the waterproof fabric.
The third layer was a clay mixture and moss, laid on the planks, securing them, enhancing the shelter’s stability, and bolstering wind resistance.
The fourth layer, the outermost, consisted of branches from surrounding trees and spruce branches.
This layer served as both decoration and protection.
The first shelter was thus successfully completed, taking no more than two days from start to finish of construction.
The effectiveness of concentrating resources for major tasks was evident, faces glowing with excitement.
This marked the first week of survival, with one shelter ready and the second shelter’s prototype already in place, which seemed buildable by tomorrow.
After testing the shelter’s fireplace, everyone emerged from the shelter.
Gaston suggested, "We can make a door to increase privacy. I feel we could work in shifts tonight, completing it by morning."
Everyone agreed with Gaston’s suggestion, and Fred went to gather materials.
For dinner, Chen Wen personally prepared and cooked the wolf mink.
The two wolf minks weren’t quite enough for everyone, and the taste... could only be called mediocre.
But it sufficed to fill the stomach.
Compared to Chen Wen’s pickiness, the others weren’t so particular.
In this instance, Chen Wen once again seized the wolf mink’s attributes, though they were ordinary.
[Tough (Green): You become tougher, making blunt injuries less likely to harm you]
That attribute was truly ordinary.
Even the golden Tough probably wouldn’t have much use for Chen Wen.
Given Chen Wen’s prudent nature, attacks rarely hit him.
Choosing the right attributes.
Chen Wen felt a bit anxious as the animals hadn’t returned yet.
But soon, the Eagle and the Golden Eagle came back with food.
This time, the Eagle sought out the Snowy Owl, while the Golden Eagle approached Chen Wen.
It was obvious that the Golden Eagle had something to say.
Chen Wen quickly took a few bites, set his bowl aside, and went to a secluded spot away from the camp to listen to the Golden Eagle.
At the camp, everyone was curious, but none intended to spy on Chen Wen’s secrets.
Hua Yun collected Chen Wen’s enamel bowl, planning to wash it later.
With Chen Wen, the Golden Eagle began to speak.
