Wilderness Survival with Druid System
Chapter 1153 Drawing Lots
Egypt, Cairo.
One week before the survival challenge begins, in his hotel room, Chen Wen is checking the equipment he brought this time.
This time no animals have proposed to accompany Chen Wen for survival in the Sahara Desert, and furthermore, Chen Wen feels that the complicated situation in the Sahara makes it more convenient to survive alone.
So he didn’t bring any animals this time.
"The five allowed equipment items: dagger, spear, water pouch, fire starter, cooking pot."
On the other side of the table, Chen Wen’s assistant Lin Jiawei is reading out the equipment list that is about to be submitted.
The conditions of the Heat Extreme Challenge are very harsh, as the amount of equipment is limited to only five chosen ones, which makes this challenge more difficult than others.
Chen Wen took a look and nodded: "Okay, report it like this, submit the items we are bringing so that the Survival Association in Egypt can check them."
Lin Jiawei acknowledged, gathered the items, and left the room.
Meanwhile, Jiang Chang timely served Chen Wen some chopped fruit, allowing him to replenish vitamins before the survival begins.
While eating the fruit, Chen Wen asked, "Everyone should be here by now, right? I noticed that the lights in several rooms nearby have started to come on at night."
Jiang Chang nodded: "Probably, I’ve also seen a few familiar faces in the restaurant these two days, they should be the contestants from Chad and South Africa."
Upon hearing this, Chen Wen couldn’t help but comment: "These two countries’ contestants are indeed a bit lax; they are the closest but were the last to arrive, while other teams have already met each other at least once, yet they haven’t shown up until now."
Jiang Chang chuckled: "People here are always like this, more laid-back."
After a bit of banter, Chen Wen said: "Alright, there’s nothing much left to do, you should also take a rest, you’ve helped out a lot these days."
Jiang Chang shook her head: "Why say that, we don’t need to discuss what’s troublesome, what’s not."
"But do pay attention; the Japan Team seems to be liaising with the Mexicans, I feel..."
Chen Wen rolled his eyes: "Yoshikawa Feng, that old guy, probably is trying to stir something up, forget it, it’s not guaranteed that we’ll draw lots to be with them; let them liaise casually."
Just as he said this, Chen Wen’s phone rang.
He picked it up and his eyebrows raised: "Speak of the devil, drawing lots takes place at ten this morning, let’s go, let’s first check out the venue."
Jiang Chang immediately stood up, took a pile of documents, and followed behind Chen Wen.
The two arrived at the drawing room; when they arrived, there were only a few staff members, other contestants hadn’t arrived yet.
The staff courteously invited Chen Wen to sit on the side, but just as Chen Wen sat down, someone arrived.
Entering was a white man, deep-set features, resolute gaze.
This man is Egypt’s captain, Tariq; the two have had interactions before and can be considered acquaintances.
Tariq nodded to Chen Wen, sitting near Chen Wen with Egypt’s four other contestants, separated by one seat.
"You need to be careful."
Tariq alerted Chen Wen: "Japan Team has already reached an agreement with the Mexico Team, as well as Chad and South Africa. Japan Team plans to target all of us, while Chad and South Africa are merely fixated on you."
Upon hearing this, Chen Wen glanced at Tariq and nodded: "I know, in fact, before I arrived, I prepared for this; my worst-case scenario anticipated all five teams targeting me."
This elicited a chuckle from Tariq.
But when Tariq realized Chen Wen wasn’t joking, Tariq couldn’t help but say: "And you still plan to proceed with survival? Facing the hunt of twenty-five people alone, that’s an impossible challenge."
Chen Wen chuckled: "Not entirely impossible; I’ve got some ideas, though it seems now these ideas might not be needed."
Just as Tariq was about to inquire about Chen Wen’s ideas.
The door opened, and the Japan Team arrived.
Chen Wen glanced over; all familiar faces.
Yoshikawa Feng, Matsui Reika, Shijing Heren, Black Wood, Matsuyama.
The two newcomers at the back, Chen Wen isn’t too familiar with their names, only that Matsui Reika refers to them this way.
Upon seeing Chen Wen seated in the room, the five from the Japan Team visibly changed their expressions.
Matsui Reika and Yoshikawa Feng managed a nod towards Chen Wen, then led the others to sit on the other side.
The other three exhibited signs of fear.
Last time, Chen Wen’s spear left a deep psychological shadow on them!
With the Japan Team’s arrival, Chen Wen avoided speaking further with Tariq—they collaborated secretly, after all, best not to display too close ties publicly.
Not long after, the Mexico Team arrived too.
The Mexico Team consisting of one white and four yellows; the white man Darren leads four yellow-complexioned individuals.
It’s said that the four brothers hail from a large Indian family, exhibiting great coherence during group survival challenges.
Chen Wen was somewhat curious why people like these didn’t participate in team cooperative survival, opting instead for this survival.
Subsequently, the Chad and South Africa teams arrived as well.
Here came ten black men, Chen Wen thought they all seemed nearly indistinguishable, unable to tell who was who.
However, among Chad’s team, a notably tall black man stood out, estimating over two meters, akin to Fred’s height.
Chen Wen did remember this person; he’s Adam, Chad’s captain, a typical power-type contestant.
While evaluating Adam, Adam was also scrutinizing him.
It seemed Adam remembered something, turned to utter something to his teammates in their language.
Most in the room didn’t understand, although four Chad contestants erupted in laughter.
They surely didn’t utter anything kind.
Chen Wen inwardly mused, assessing Chad’s team with a hazardous gaze, intentionally employing the [Intimidation] effect.
The laughter promptly ceased.
Several black men shivered, swiftly taking their designated seats.
As everyone gathered, it wasn’t long before Amir, whom Chen Wen had met before, arrived.
Upon entering the room, Tariq and the scene’s sole female contestant, Egypt Team’s Laila, stood up.
Tariq is considered a protégé of Amir, while Laila seemingly shares some familial connection with Amir—though Chen Wen isn’t sure exactly how.
The two went over to assist Amir, organizing the drawing box and lots.
Amir then addressed: "Everyone, let’s skip the welcoming speeches, commencement with the draw, first round draw will determine everyone’s initial oasis for survival, let’s begin."
As Laila raised the airtight drawing box, the moment determining everyone’s fate abruptly commenced!
Chen Wen was the first to draw, casually feeling around, pulling out a short lot appearing in his hand.
He inspected it closely; it conspicuously read number four.
